How to get better in GD
Af fosz
In this guide, I will show you lots of tips how to get better in GD!

2021-06-12: I don't know why, but this guide has been getting some attention lately. Please understand that the usage of English here isn't as refined as in my newer guides. Thanks!

Disclaimer
With this guide, I don't guarantee you will get better, but these will help you improving by time.
Getting better in a game requires time, like a lot. Also I don't want to make you a "10K hour 1 attempt bloodlust player". Thanks.

FPS bypass
Lots of easy demons!
Things that will help you
Motivation
This is the most important one. If you don't have any motivation to GD, why you play it?
Well, to improve this, why don't you watch some legends playing extreme demons? When I
watch them, I get a lot of motivation, even if I can't beat any extreme demons. Also, going for new highscores can be motivational too, not only 100% on levels.
Time
GD is not typically the 'I'll play it for 5 minutes then I'm gonna play PUBG' game.
Of course, not everyone has time, but if you start up GD for 30 minutes, it will help you
not losing your skill. If you want to be a real pro in the game, my recommended time is 1-2 hour.
Confort
Not much to talk about that. It's basic. Make sure you are in a nice chair
(or at least have a pillow), there are no disturbing sounds nearby,
your mouse pad is just fine and fits perfectly.
Mouse
THIS SECTION IS NOT FOR MOBILE PLAYERS
If you have mouse issues, you will have very difficult issues with GD.
Double-clicking, not clicking, random clicks, these can change the
difficulity of everything by a lot. Seriously, if you have these issues,
it's better to get a new mouse if you want to be good in GD.
Don't cheat
No, seriously, don't cheat. Why? It will make the game less fun
(for me at least). Just look at the commands on extreme demons,
half of them are '1 att gg ez' or '48374983 att gg holy crap'.
If you are playing legit, you can say "hey i did this i am good
i guess". Also, people will like you way more if you are not cheating.
60 hz? FPS bypass!
Now yes... I was talking about cheating, but advertising a cheat? GG.
Well, in my (and lots of other people's) opinion is that it's not a hack, since:
-If 144 hz monitors aren't banned, why FPS bypass would be? It does the same thing.
Now extreme demons require lot of straight flying, so this tool is extremely useful for
60 hz people, including me. There are no risks of using this (some people also say
it does harm your computer, i could only say don't use this hack on a potato PC.)
Download the FPS bypass HERE. And no, it's not a sponsor.
#1 Practise
Practising is the most important part of this guide.
You can't beat bloodbath without practising the level.
If you are trying certain parts of the level, it will go to your muscle memory, and
you will be able to do it without failing at that part way too many times.
(only if you practised it enough and if this part isn't too hard for you)
How can I practise a level?
*Placing start pos at certain spots on the level (DON'T FORGET TO SET THE SETTINGS)
*Search levels like that: 'Digital Descent wave' (Note: some levels have long name, in that case
use the the first letter of each word, example: Digital descent <-> DD)
*Search levels like that: 'Bloodbath Michigun' (Like the previous one, but now it's the creator's name)
Also a very good feature implemented in 2.1, you can favourite levels by clicking on the heart icon,
so you don't have to search up to the levels each time you want to practise.
Also use the folder option too, it's very useful too.
#2 Don't go too far
This is a common mistake that lots of people does. Let me describe it in one sentence:
"Hey Adam, I have just beaten Theory of Everything 2 so I'm gonna beat bloodbath now!"
Make sure you are not trying to beat something that you can't actually get 5% on.
Don't get too confident about <20% on extreme demons. Most of the extreme demons
hard part is after 30% (usually at the drop), but it depends a lot. The best is to make
'progresses', which I'm gonna describe in the next section.
Also don't forget: being confident is good, but don't be way too confident.
#3 Make progresses
This section is extremely similar to the previous one, but with a small
difference. I'm gonna talk about 'progressing'.
Your first level was probably a RobTop level, also I know you failed a
lot. If not, then congratulations, you are a 'pro'. So making progress
basically means that you are beating certain levels with different
difficulities. A 'healthy' progressing is something like that:
*Easy; Normal; Hard; Harder; Insane; Easy demon; Medium demon;
*Hard demon; Insane demon; Extreme demon, beating the hardest demon.[pointercrate.com]
Skipping things before your first demon is fine... I guess...
But seriously, don't try to do an extreme demon without beating an insane demon. If you do,
you will struggle A LOT.
#4 Challenge yourself
How good I am? Am I ready for harder levels?
You can answer this question by doing things in the "Practise" section, but
you can try it in a different way; by doing challenges!
Simply type one of these formats (inserting xy between stars):
-Challenge
-*form* Challenge
-*famous_player* Challenge
-*famous_level* Challenge
By playing these, you can easily tell if you are good or not.
Also only play harder and insane levels. Harder and insane levels usually
have a lot of difference in difficulity, so watch out.
Top 50 hardest challenge list[gdforum.freeforums.net]
#5 Breaks
This demon annoys me a lot! I can't even get to 20% anymore!
Obviously, some levels can be extremely frustrating, in this case, take a break,
but remember that this break shouldn't be 1 month, at maximum 1 week.
Also don't play demons 5 hours straight, after like 30 minutes just go and play some 4*
levels or Dry Out like Cinci or whatever. Don't play a specific level that much or you
might get bored of Geometry Dash extremely easily.
#6 Building
This section is an odd-one-out, because this is for the people
who wants to get better in building.
Words can't describe how good this guide is[www.boomlings.com]
Now the most important things for building is:
-Know the basics.
-Know the most important triggers, including Color, Move, Pulse and Alpha.
-Creativity
-Time
-Patience
The first and second paragraph is self-explanatory.
The third one is the most important one. If you don't have,
you shouldn't build, but you can always try. Try different designs,
work with the best one you like.
The fourth and the fifth is also very important, but not as the third.
It's also self-explanatory, you need a lot of time (building takes a lot),
and you also need patience, because if you don't have, you will fall
like lot of people => work on a level for days then start a new one.
#7 Never give up
You just got 98% on DeadLocked because you got a notification of
an new Minecraft snapshot. You are about to cry and giving up...
Always remember: If you failed on a high percentage on a level, you just
made sure you can beat the level, just you needed a little bit more.
Do the things said in the "Practise" paragraph, and don't give up.
You can also listen to other music if the level's song got too repetitive.
#8 Customizing GD
Got bored of the practise or menu song? You hate the death sound of your cube and
this just demotivates you from playing the game?
Well, Geometry dash has a lot of customizable things, including icons.
About icons:
-Don't fit the colors to the level.
-Playing with black color is not recommended by me.
-Choose your ship carefully (some are easier to control, some are hard)
-Don't choose big icons. They don't change the hitbox but it can hide the level sometimes.
-Don't look it 0/24, it may be beautiful, but you got a level to do.
The sounds are a bit harder, but not impossibly difficult.
Find your steam folder, go to steamapps, Geometry Dash, Resources. Here are your non-DLL files.
Here are the things you can change without getting banned. The images are the textures of the
game, I recommend getting a texture pack if you want to change these, because it's hard to make one. The MP3 files are the longer sounds of your game (or musics). List of them:
-*Every official level songs*
-menuLoop = The song played in the menu.
-StayInsideMe = Practise song.
-secretLoop = Vault songs
-shop (secretShop) = Shop songs
Also there may appear other songs like "Years" here, leave these alone.
To change them, simply put the MP3 (!!!) file in the folder, delete the original and rename it exactly like the original.
The harder ones are the .OGG files, which are the shorter sounds of the game. Here is the list:
playSound_01 = The sound when you press the play button of a level.
quitSound_01 = The sound when you exit a level.
reward01 = The sound when you open a chest.
secretKey = The sound when you obtain a key.
highscoreGet02 = The sound when you get stars.
endStart_02 = The sound when you complete a level.
explode_11 = The sound when you die.
chestClick = The sound when you click on a chest.
chestLand = The sound while opening a chest.
chestOpen = The sound when you opened a chest.
buyItem03 = The sound when you buy something
crystal01 = The sound when you obtain diamond.
achievement_01 = The sound when you get an achievement.
gold01 ; gold02 = The sound when you obtain orbs.
counter003 = I don't know this one. Help would be appriciated.
To change these, you have to put the file in the folder, delete the original and rename it like the original, but the sound MUST be .OGG; OGG converter[audio.online-convert.com]
I don't recommend touching any of the files with these extensions:
.DAT
.PLIST
.FNT
#9 Don't get mad
I am 100% sure you got mad by this game at least once.
This game can be frustrating, sure, but if you are raging, go and leave the game for
some minutes or hours. The goal is to complete a specific level, and raging just blocks
you by doing this. The best way to stay calm is by following the things said in the "Breaks"
paragraph.
#10 Play easier levels
Hey, this guide was about getting better, how can I get better with easier levels?!
If you play easier levels, you will practise some of the basic mechanics, which will help you
from dying at the stupidest places. I don't mean play stereo madness when you are practising
an extreme demon, but around 4-9 star levels are good for you if you play 'em sometimes
(also you can obtain some stars with this)
Extra tips
-If you play fun levels (e.g: Pimpa), you may won't rage.
-If a level doesn't have a copyable version, don't use cheat engine to get one. Use practise mode. Cheating is bad anyways.
-If you are bad in something, you can make a level with your own difficulity with your own gameplay, so you won't suffer from searching & playing challenge levels.
-Hitting orbs early is easy, but hitting them late is hard. You may want to practise that one too.
-Go for the coins. They don't only give you achievements and icons, but it's route is usually harder than the normal gameplay. Also it's maybe more fun to get them, I don't know.
-If coins: Get every single golden coin. The mappacks are full of levels with extreme muscle memory and stuff like that (may cause raging), so it's a good type of challenge to try it out.
-If you want to be good at wave; play a lot of nine circles levels.[geometry-dash-fan.wikia.com]
-Some low details are nerfing the level. Don't use it if not needed.
-If you are struggling to learn the layout of the level, try it's $hitty edition. Type $hitty *level_name* (use normal S instead of the dollar sign, you know, censorship)
-You can complete daily/weekly levels twice. Once in the daily/weekly tab, once as a normal level. (This also applies to gauntlet levels, but not to map packs.)
-If your hand hurts: STOP PLAYING
Thanks for reading.
Thank you so much for reading this!
You can help this guide by writing your own methods to get better.
Feel free to add my Geometry Dash account, it's name is: nebulatic
Again, thanks for reading. Good luck on beating demons, cheers man!

it shows how many times you didn't give up on a level"
