The Sprinting Patch
I made this patch because I was really tired of walking in the game. I felt like too much time was spent walking, so I made this patch.
It only makes 2 changes to the whole game:
1. Changing movement speed when holding SHIFT
2. Adds a notice that the patch is installed at the start of the game.

All other things are unchanged! Please note that this is a patch! It does not work without a legimitate version of the game.

Download and installation
  1. Start by downloading the patch from my website: https://www.alexandernorup.com/download?id=22
  2. Extract the zip file somewhere on your computer
  3. Find your Rakuen installation. Psstt... It's probably in:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rakuen
  4. Take a backup of the following three files: Engine.exe, Engine.ini, Engine.rgssad. Rename them all to something different, or copy them to another location. You can then later use these files to remove the patch if you want to.
  5. Copy the three files you extracted from the zip file into your Rakuen installation folder.
  6. Start your game like normal.
You'll know it works if you see a message when you make a new game.. Or.. You know, by pressing shift to sprint.
If you find that holding shift don't make you sprint. Try pressing F1, select the tab "Keyboard", and set SHIFT to activate "Z"

Feedback is welcome :)
A final note
There are some points in the game which uses time or chase sequenses as obstacles. Sprinting trivialises these parts massively. Therefore I suggest you don't use sprinting in these cases, where it is obvious it wasnt intended.
Sprinting is really only meant for the huge amount walking there can be in some puzzles/objectives.

I didn't have to press any button to print. Is this a bug? It's pretty convenient for me though.

THANK YOU!! confirmed working on mac. the only difference is that mac users don't need the engine.exe, so just copying the engine.ini and engine.rgssad will do. After that, run Rakuen, press F1 (fn+F1) to bind the "Z" action to shift key or whatever you like :)

great patch thanks :) i am currently playing the game and i found the walking speed to be to too slow. i did search for "rauken change walking speed" in google and i found your page. i had to assign z for sprint to a button and then it worked. hooray :)

@amokay
Thanks for notifiying of the Firefox bug. I was not aware. It has now been fixed, and you no longer have to add the .zip yourself :)

@White Fire and anyone else encountering the same thing just add .zip to the file name. I can replicate this in firefox where the download is a file with no extension named "Rakuen" in Opera it is named "Rakuen Sprinting Patch.zip" so it is most likely a silly bug with space character in file name.

Thanks for the help. Oddly enough, I did what you said but couldn't find an option for .zip.

It doesn't matter anyway because I finished Rakuen yesterday and will most likely not be picking it back up for a little while. I still appreciate the quick response and will remember what you said for the future.

@White Fire: Sounds like you have the wrong file-type association for .zip files. Try opening Windows Setting -> Choose Apps -> Default Apps -> Choose default apps by file type -> Locate .zip and change it to "Windows Explorer".
