The last game update was over a year ago. And my suspicion is that the devs have abandoned the game to it's current state, so I doubt you'd have to worry about future game updates breaking mods again.
Open the in-game Mod Editor on the main menu.
After it loads close the INTERNET browser that opens.
On the mod editor window select the JapanSponsor item in the left pain. (it will be grayed out)
At the top of the window are some icons, select "edit." (the eye icon)
Click "OK" to copy the mod data to a local directory.
A new window opens with the mod file. Click the save icon at the top.
Select the "Mission Sponsor Japan" Mod Item in the left pain. Click the save icon again.
At the top of the screen next to the save icon select the open folder icon.
A window showing the mod files will open.
Close the mod editor and quit the game.
Open the "items.lua" file with a text editor such as notepad. (I use Notepad++)
The above step saved the structure in the updated format. Now we need to delete some artifact code no longer used in this file for the game, but cause the mod to error out and not work.
Look down the lines of code and delete the following five lines. Whitespace should not matter but for clean code, go ahead and remove (delete) the whole line not just the text.
SortKey = 1000000,
additional_initial_applicants = -80,
filter = function() end,
group = "Default",
name = "Japan",
Thats it. Now lets save our edits and restart the game.
(if you made a mistake just close the file without saving and repeat the process from EDITING THE FILE:)
Save the file and close the text editor.
Close the mod file folder.
Restart the game and enable the mod in the mod manager screen.
Should be working now!
I think all of us liked your mod, especially people like me that played it in combination with AI Engineer Commander.
My best robotic colony ever made in the game history so far, about 1Bil Biorobots, comes from this combination. Where Japan Sponsor cames out, I started to enjoy this game much much much more! The aim of that combination is to get rid of enough electronics to substantially maintain the colony operational. And we all know how electronics ar that pain in the ... to maintain in huge amount.
Please, I beg you to find some time to upgrade your Japan Sponsor Mod to a new release for DaVinci.
Thanks in advance and best regards
