Slayer Champion + Guide
By Master Alcy
This is just some tips to help you make your slayer. I am NOT a long-time slayer but I found it really fun recently.
I can use it to win Champions easily just like an ironbreaker without range but pretty hard to pass legend (I did with good teamates).
This is also my first guide-like essay, so be easy on me :X

1. Weapon choice
Simple: mainly 2h hammer plz.

I know dual axe is badass but it's suicide in Champion+ in horde b/c you don't have enough stamina to push or kill mobs fast enough to not get hit.
Also, after I main 2h hammer my rate of being hit is reduced significantly.
If you are good at dodging and using dual axe, it's totally fine. I just found 2h hammer easier for me since I'm using it on ironbreaker a lot.

I use dual axe only in boss fight and small group of enermy.
2.Traits
lv5 --- pair with +20% hp.

lv10 --- make you a tank in Legend. You can take at least 8-10 hits, which is A LOT. (same as zealot's trait btw)

lv15 & lv25--- Moving Target's defence is good in Champion during horde, but for Legend defence is not that rewardable. Thus I prefer >>>Adrenaline Surge<<< to pair with lv25 trait so you have more stun to either to chaos spawn to save your teamate or to horde for more room.
3. Equipment traits
1. Dual axe. crit chance, and atk speed.
Trait: +20% atk speed on crit or block increase atker damage taken by 50%.(I prefer 2nd one since dual axe is mainly for boss).

2. 2h Hammer. Crit chance and atk speed. Note that slayer is the only class can have +15% atk speed from equipments.
Trait: +20% atk speed on crit.

3. Necklace. +20%HP and stamina or whatever. I prefer stamina for slayer but I use +angle on other charrs and I only have one red necklace...
Stamina is important for dual axe btw.
Trait: increase healing. I mean, maybe you are better than me but I need tons of healing :/

4. Charm. +5% atk speed and whatever.
Trait: increase duration of potion by 50%.

5. Trinket. +5% crit chance and +33% curse resis.
Trait: bombs makes enermy takes 20% more damage for 10s.
4. Combat
0. How to use leap.
Try to hold BLOCK while press F whenever possible, b/c you can be hit during slow leap motion. Moreover, not like knight which has stun alone the way, slayer only stun where it lands, so mobs can totally hit you mid-air.

1. How to use 2h hammer.
Charged atk for multiple enermy. You only need to charge it for around 0.5s, and no need for full charge since their damage are the same.
Normal atk for armor. 4 to 6 hammer for a chaos warrior. Note: block can cancel the animation of your atk swing.

Note that around 150 degree in front of you is kill zone, no rats or chaos can pass since your charged swing is really fast. You DO need to care other directions. In fact, 70% ppl died from atk from behind despite your charr.

2. How to deal with horde.
>F at where you stand or wherever in front of horde. Don't get inside. Then just keep your hammer charged swing. Your atk speed can make sure you can constant charge atk without being hit.

>After F duration, charge swing + push + charge swing. If your push is good you can do two charged swing.

>Since you have Adrenaline Surge, and your swing can hit tons of enermy at once, you get back F really quick, go back to step one.

3. How to deal with patrol.
Jump in front of it, don't get inside, again!
Go for several normal HAMMER atk since hammer is heaviest weapon and can interrupt even chaos warrior. Block and push when needed. That's it.
Note that you can even take many charged atk from chaos warrior and not dying, but you still need to avoid damage.
btw charged dual axe and the block atk of it can one shot most armored class, as @rustle mentioned.

4. How to deal with specials.
MARK and RUN. Or try leap on them if you have the confindence. I mean, you can kill some of them but still I suggest you mark it no matter what.
Note that I personally bond mark to middle mouse buttom.

5. How to deal with boss.
Drink speed potion or strength potion and just cut it through. Note that F can stun boss and save teamate, save it for chaos spawn. Plz do block and DON'T rush the damage. If your dual axe only got two stamina, you better use 2h hammer for one more stamina shield. I really recommand getting slayer some extra stamina.

6. How to play team.
Keep close to range charr and defend them. Watch the back if necessary. It's a pitty that we can't be a god like in vertran but we can still be good frontline killer and tank. Note that killing is just method, not goal, you want to win. SO don't wander around like some elfs and get dragged away, at least elf have a bow for specials and we don't.

X: WE NEED THROWing AXE for dual AXE.
This is really a good idea isn't it? Otherwise there is almost no way to deal with specials. Keep around your ranged teamate whenever, wherever, so they can save your ass.
5. Sum up
Well, the role of slayer is actually tank and armored dealer in Legend. Slayer's 2h-hammer can actually kill the whole horde pretty quickly or at least you can smash them away with either hammer or F to make room for teamates.

Comparing with ironbreaker, slayer have much higher atk speed on 2h-hammer so you can kill mobs much faster and still able to make room, while if you are using 2h-hammer on Ironbreaker it's harder to make room or kill horde. With axe and shield then you sacrificed 70% ability to kill. For defend, actually slayer is just a little worse than ironbreaker for lv10 trait.

If you have any idea let me know, and finally:

@FZ | Gizzy(Cze) As I stated in Overview, this guide is out-of-date. I created this when no guides out there for this class, and back then no one had created any guide about how each trait actually react in game b/c they updates a lot.

I'm glad you have your thought with this class, if you made your own guide plz tell me and I'll make a link there on top.

For now I'm just a humble hunter lost in Monster Hunter World and haven't touched this game for too long XD.

4) combat section - just no, dealing with armored is waaaay better with dual axes, specialy their block attack (yes, it requires a little more skill, but it is well worth puttin practice into) and by the way I am not sure how it was before, but in current state of the game I am fairly sure that you cannot interrupt chaos spawn with slayers F (maybe only with Crunch! talent, haven't tried that)

2) trait reasoning is also almost non-existent and I somehow fail to see any coherency between traits and equipment - on one way you push for high crits in equipment and then for tanky stats in traits, doesn't make sense, mine prefered trait build is 3,1,3,2,3 with this I have almost constant uptime of attack speed buff from my leap which also gives me movement speed and greater maneuverability makes me thus more defensive (I would agree with most stuff, just Stoutfellow is very poor choice imho)

3) "WE NEED THROWING AXE TO DEAL WITH SPECIALS" I can't even start how wrong you are - this game is build around every class being good at something (for slayer it is armored enemies and bosses with dual axes and hordes with either pickaxe or 2h hammer), not every class being good at everything (with maybe some exception being ranged veteran, who is medicore at everything)

This guide is displaying a lots of OP's misunderstandings of the class itself and the game as a whole, I will not point them all, but just few. But before you read further, this comment is in no way meant to attack OP, rather it is additional information on how to approach this class for a starting players.

1) your whole equipment section is utter garbage, sorry, there's no better way how to react to your "and whatever" on every equipment slot - there are a lots of guides to explain clear reasoning why you should want some specific stats on each equiped item (ie. to pass the threshold for one-shotting the lowest level enemies in hordes on legend)

Stoutfellow only works if you're host.

My dude go try out the new pickaxe, so far pickaxe with a leap has been deleting hordes for me in Champion and Legend

What you mean when say "Note that slayer is the only class can have +15% atk speed from equipments."?
Stats on different weapon dont stack with each other.

Good guide, thank you for putting it together.

@v1sion I rarely use it, you can try it out yourself. Its damage is good but not good at horde.
