What are plants?
Plants can be found across all of your Terraria world. Most of them can be harvested and used for potion/items/other crafting. There are more types of plants:
Herbs
Herbs are a common plant type used in potions. One of their biggest properties is blooming. Under the right circumstances harvesting one doesn't just give you the plant, it gives you its seeds so you can plant it again.

-Blinkroot
Blinkroot is an underground plant found on dirt and mud. It blooms randomly (when it blooms once it stays bloomed) and when it does it makes a faint light.

-Daybloom

Daybloom is found on the surface in pure or hallowed grass. It blooms at day.

-Deathweed
Deathweed is found on corrupt/crimson boimes and blocks. It blooms every blood moon or full moon.

-Waterleaf
Waterleaf is found on deserts (normal/hallowed) in sand. It blooms every time it rains.

-Fireblossom
Fireblossom is found in the underworld in ash. It blooms every dusk.

-Shivertorn
Shivertorn is found on ice biomes in snow. It blooms randomly like blinkroot.

-Moonglow
Moonglow is found in underground jungles. Blooms at night.

Farming.

Farming herbs is relatively easy. They can be planted in clay pots or planters (sold by Dryad depending on which bosses you killed). It doesn't need to be in their natural biome but they still follow the blooming rules.

Uses.

Herbs, along with a bottle of water, are the most common way of making potions. To check a potion's ingredients make sure to ask the guide (use the bottle of water for all potions).

Strange Plants
Strange Plants are rare plants that you can find scattered anywhere across the world. If you get one or more you can go to the Dye Trader and click 'Strange Plants' for a special dye (Various types and designs, comes with 3 per plant)

Mushrooms
Normal Mushrooms. Found in grass and used for potions, eating for 15hp.

Glowing Mushrooms. Found in glowing mushroom biomes by either cutting the giant ones or the small ones. Used in potions.

Vile/VIcious Mushrooms. Found in Corruption/Crimson. Used for their repsective powders.

Dye Plants
Those plants are used directly for making dyes at the dye vat. The names correspond to the color (Eg: Teal Mushroom gives Teal Dye)

Misc
This is for plants that don't really belong to the categories above.

Life Fruit. Found in Hardmode Underground jungle they act like hardmode life crystals.

Sunflower.Found on Surface grass. Gives a boost to movement speed and decreased enemy spawns when near it.

Cactus. Found in deserts. Acts as a wood alternative and for some potions.

End
If I miss a plant or write something wrong please tell me so I can fix it.

Have fun becoming a gardener.

Hi! You have a typo in the glowing mushroom description. You spelt giant like "ciant." Very useful guide! Straight to the point.
