Road to 200 Angler Quests

This is a guide to help players achieve the hardest achievement of the all - Supreme Helper Minion

Preparation

Angler NPC

If you don't have Angler NPC - travel to ocean biome at the edge of your world - east or west. Angler is sleeping near the shore. Talk to him to wake him up. If you have an NPC house he will move in.

General Info

Fishing quests refresh at 4:30AM game time. One character can only start 1 fishing quest per game day, however, Angler can give multiple copies of the same quest in a game world. Therefore, you can use many characters in the same world to start the same quest and turn it in.

Fishing quests require water pools in different biomes and at different height/ depth levels. During my playthroughs I've been asked to get fish from sky islands, mushroom biome, hive, forest, jungle, tundra etc. You need to make sure each biome has lakes or pools of water at least on the ground level and underground/cavern levels. You can also use clentaminator to change the biome of your lake if needed or if it gets consumed by corruption/crimson. You can use Empty Bucket to collect water in one place and then drop it at your custom made water reservoir in one of the required biomes. You need at least 300 buckets worth of water to compensate for fishing power penalties. Also make your water pools wide and make sure they do not have any blocks touching the water surface because that reduces the number of tiles counted as lake tiles.

Tools

One of the best fishing rods you can get is Sitting Duck's Fishing Pole (40% power) and it can be bought from Travelling Merchant. Only Hotline Fishing Hook (45%) and Golden Fishing Rod (50%) are better for general fishing. These are given as Angler quest rewards with low chance. Golden Rod is a guaranteed drop on 30th quest though.

Angler Quests also give fishing bait and accessories that increase fishing power or make it easier to fish, such as Angler Costume, High Test Fishing Line, Angler Earring, Tackle Box.

Baits: Journeyman Bait and Master Bait are recommended for fishing.

Potions: Sonar Potion - shows which fish is currently biting, Fishing Potion - raises overall fishing level.

Alt Characters

Since Angler gives the same quest only once per character (but many times in the same world) - create multiple alt characters that will not fish but will simply complete the quest with the fish caught by your main character.

Fishing

Eventually, you will have all the biomes and water reservoirs created and there will be little time wasted on preparation. You can go straight to fishing at 4:30 AM after getting a quest from Angler.

How To Maximize the Profits

Always fish on your main character - the one with all the fishing tools, potions and equipment.
As soon as you catch the quest fish - put it in storage - preferred tool for this is Money Trough which summons a flying piggy bank. Try to get at least 20 of the quest fish.

Store the quest fish in a chest near Angler's house. Make sure his house is in the original spawn point in your world because this is where your additional characters will spawn.

If you're planning to catch more of this quest fish before the next day at 4:30AM, accept and complete the quest with your alt characters first.

Example:

Angler gives your main character a Bunnyfish quest.
You go to your forest surface biome where you've built or found a large water lake.
You summon a Money Trough, use sonar and fishing potions and begin fishing.
Every quest fish you put away in your flying piggy bank so that you can catch the next one.
Once you got enough fish, you teleport or run to Angler House located conveniently for your alt characters to spawn.You then store these fish in a chest for your alt characters.
You then log in with each alt character and accept the quest, take the fish out of the chest and complete the quest.
Repeat the last part until all characters have completed the quest for the day or you run out of fish.

This way instead of 200 game days you can complete the achievement in:
20 total characters = 10 game days
30 total characters = 7 game days

Of course, enemy spawn, blood moons, eclipses, events and fishing gear quality can slow down your progress but overall this is the fastest legitimate way to complete the achievement.

The most time efficient way to do this one is really simple, go to an online item server and complete the quest there, then create a new character and repeat the process. In this manor you can do the quest in literally 1-2 in game days

You can only carry one quest fish. You need to store it to get the next one.

Can one character find multiple of the quest fish on one day? Is it only possible if you put it away into a trough?

Hey man, Yesterday I got lucky, So I was fighting the WoF and died at the WoF, I quickly went down and realized WoF wasnt gone, I quickly killed it and I was so happy.
I guess activating hardmode was a bad idea, keep dying.

I got 2 quest between the last comment I posted and now, turns out that I'm just very unlucky.

It is important to remember that you need to be in the right biome, right elevation level, your pond has to be large enough to increase your chances. Fishing rod and bait are important too but if you're trying to catch quest fish in the wrong place it will never work. Hope this helps.
