Basics of the summoner class

So it's a complette guide for a summoner gameplay and it contains tactics,weapons,armors,crafts,etc...

I have to mention that i used most of the pictures from the wiki.

The summoner class in a nutshell

While the summoner class has almost no meaning in the very early game, in late game it will be one of the strongest if not the strongest class. So it's worth trying it out for at least once. ;)

So the summoner class is differs a bit from the other classes because it is more about dodging attacks and less on focusing on the target because your minions will do it for you and that's why you can focus on the other thing like dodging.

It's also ideal for farming for items in afk or semi afk farms.

Weapons to use in pre-hardmode

So as I mentioned in the very early stage of the game it has almost no item for a summoner.Except the slime staff but it has about 1/8000 chance to drop.

Slime staff:

It has about 1 in 8000 to drop so it's not so easy to put your hand on it but a great idea is that you can just simply summon slime king and it might drop it ONCE...

Hornet staff

:

It is crafted from 14 bee wax next to an iron/lead anvil.

Imp staff:

It is crafted from 17 hellstonebar next to an iron/lead anvil.

Weapons to use in hardmode

u have a way more stuff to use than in normal mode like the followings:

Spider staff

you need 14 spider fang and have to stand next to an iron/lead anvil.
-these minions will stick to the target and poison it.

Optic staff

you need 2 lens, 1 black lens, 12 hallowed bar, 20 soul of sight and the player have to stand next to a Mythril/Orichalcum anvil
-this weapon is post twins weapon but it's a very good one because u get 2 minion instead of one.

Pirate staff

it has a chanse to drop in a pirate invasion and it had 1/100 chanse to drop form pirate dutchmans.
.it's a good weapon if you can acquire it early.

Pygmy staff

It's a common drop form Plantera and it has 1/4 drop chanse in normal mode and 1/2 chanse in expert to drop
-while it's in the player's inventory you can buy some other stuff from the witch doctor in hardmode such as the tiki armor.

Xeno staff

It has 1/9 chanse to drop from Martian Saucer during the maratian madness.
-the mini UFO's uses ranged lasers to attack so they always never miss the target.

Raven staff

It has a chanse to drop from the Pumpking during the pumpkin moon event.
-these minions are so specal if you summon them into a box they can't leave it and can't go through walls if the player stand next to them. they can be used to kill crabs or other mobs to gain manna stars or hearts while standing still.

Tempest Staff

This staff is dropped form the Duke Fishron with 1/5 drop chanse

Deadly Sphere Staff

it's droped by Deadly Spheres with 1/40 chanse to drop

Stardust Dragon Staff

you need 18 stardust frgament and have to stand next to an Ancient Manipulator
-this is one of the best weapon in the game because it can hit more then onec in one tic

Stardust Cell Staff

you need 18 stardust frgament and have to stand next to an Ancient Manipulator
these minions uses ranged attacks and the projectile sticks on the target and deals a lot of dmg.

The so-called "Sentries"

So there are some summon that can't move around like the others just standing still and shooting the target.

Spider queen staff

It can be crafted by 24 spider fang and have to stand next to an iron/lead anvil

Staff of the Frost Hydra

It can be looted from a Frozen chest in the Dungeon

Lunar Portal Staff

It has 1/9 chance to drop from the Moonlord

Rainbow Crystal Staff 

It has 1/9 chance to drop from the Moonlord

Accessories

here are the accessories which can boost minion dmg

-but you should use some kind of mobility items too because the dodging and a wing also recommended.

Armores

so these are the armores you can use:

Bee armor

you will need a total of 30 bee wax to craft it

Forbidden armor

you will need Forbidden fragment and 46 titanium/adamantium to craft it

Spider armor

you will need a total of 36 spider fang to craft it

Tiki armor

It can be purchased by the witch doctor if the pygmy staff is in the player's inventory

Spooky armor

you will need a total of 750 spooky wood to craft it

Stardust armor

you will need a total of Stardust fragment and 36 Luminite bar and 45 Stardust Fragments to craft it

And of course the items from Dungeon Defenders 2

so here are the staffs and armors from DD2


-You can use them but these are mostly effective while defending the crystal and you will find other weapons and armores which are more useful in other situations
-you can buy them from the Tavernkeep.
-you will unlock tier 2 weapons and armors if you defeat one mechanical boss.
-you will unlock tier 3 weapons and armors if you defeat the Golem

Tricks and tips

-If you put on accesories with increased dmg the minions spawned will gain this bonus and won't lose it and then you can take on some stuff with increasing maximum minions, so you will have some strong minions and you will have more than just those strong ones. For example summon down minions while wearing the spooky armor and then change it to tiki armor and you can summon down 2 extra minions.
- You should use the cute fishron's buff while summoning minions to gain 15% more dmg and potions to boost the minions dmg.
- Minions can score critical hits.

Greenstone you forgot to put how many stardust fragments are required. And this guide was very helpful! I can use this if I decide to do a summoner playthrough. It would be nice if you could label when you can get the accesories, like which one is post-plantera or prehardmode.

normal slimes it has 1/10000 in normal and 1/7000 in expert. yeah, pinky has a bit higher drop rate which is about 1% but he is not spawn very often. _ it's quite rare.

i could of sworn slime staff was 1/1000 not 8000 the keys are 1/2000 and are rarer then the staff i know that for sure and pinky drops staff 1/180 chance not sure what slime king chance is though its around 1/300 though
