Increasing Rare Drop Odds
There is a way to eliminate traps and increase your odds of receiving a rare drop instead. Using ANALYZE on a chest will cause a red color aura to appear, signifying that it is an item. Each monster typically has a regular drop which usually is a useable item. The rare drop will be either equipment or a weapon orb, depending on the monster. Using this spell is also a great way to find chests if they are out of view. At level 50+ the player will start to receive shadow zeros from treasure chests. This can also decrease odds if the player is not using analyze.

Selecting a treasure chest with Analyze.

Obtaining rare drop. Notice the red aura around the chest after analyze was used.
Helms
Cockatrice Cap (Mana Palace)

This helm is dropped by Basilisks. They look like green little fat lizards that lay eggs.
They can be found in the Great Mana Palace once it is accessible are are weak against Air Blast or Thunderbolt. This helm can be missed upon completing the Mana Palace. One great way to farm this item is in the area with the underground waterfalls and switches. Four spawn at the top of the waterfalls. The player can start from the Hydra Boss room and work their way south through one disabled waterfall, head counter clock, passing the scorpions, and back up the second waterfall. Return to the Hydra boss room to reset the spawns. This guy can also be found on the second floor of the Mana Fortress if initially missed.

Amulet Helm (Mana Palace)

This helm is dropped by National Scars. They look like floating magic books with a black cover. They can be found in the Great Mana Palace once it is accessible. High level magic can reduce their heath to around 20%. Once the player has reached the temple portion of the Mana Palace, they are easily spawnable when accessing one of the seven orb rooms with two doom swords. They can cast Wall on themselves, but this can be removed with Shade's dispel magic. This enemy can be encountered again at the Mana Fortress.

Griffin Helm (Pure Lands)

This helm is dropped by Griffin Hands. They look like a giant bird claw. They can be found in the Pure Lands once it is accessible. If the player completes dragon boss fights in the Pure Lands, they will not be able to go back to previous areas unless they leave the Pure Lands. Progressing after the Blue Dragon and towards the end of Pure Lands will cause this item to be permanently lost. A great area to farm is right from the beginning in the second transition. Three griffin hands will spawn and can be reset from reentering. They are weak against Gnome magic. Using analyze in this area can be very helpful in finding chests that may spawn under the trees. If a griffin hand receives a killing blow, depending on where the player is positioned, the griffin hand will push and die away from the player. This is helpful to manipulate where they die so chests can spawn within view.

Faerie Crown (Mana Fortress)

This crown is dropped the Mace Menace. They look like a light gold knight. Their name is accurate in farming these monsters. If the player is not using magic to go for a quick kill then there will be a longer fight. Their first move is to cast level seven Lucid Barrier as soon as the player enters the room which makes them invulnerable to physical attacks. They can also fly around by swinging their mace over their head. They can be found on the third floor of the Mana Fortress.
Body Armor
Vampire Cape (Mana Fortress)

This cape is dropped by Fiend Heads. They look like gray abd purple floating demon heads and have the ability to spawn Dark Stalkers. They can be found throughout the Mana Fortress once it is accessible. Each room in the Mana Fortress is resettable which makes for easier farming.

Power Suit (Mana Fortress)

This suit is dropped by Whimpers. They look like a yellow floating eyeball and have the ability to cast Wall. Wall grants the ability to reflect magic back to their enemies. They can be found throughout the Mana Fortress once it is accessible and are weak against Shade magic. Each room in the Mana Fortress is resettable which makes for easier farming.

Faerie Cloak (Mana Fortress)

This cloak is dropped by Master Ninjas. They look like golden colored ninjas. They can be found on the third floor of the Mana Fortress, once it is accessible. Each room in the Mana Fortress is resettable which makes for easier farming.
Miscellaneous
Guardian Ring (Mana Palace)

This ring is dropped by Doom Swords. They are a floating purple sword with an eye in the center.
They can be found in the Great Mana Palace once it is accessible. This ring can be missed upon completing the Mana Palace. High level magic can reduce their heath to around 20%. Once the player has reached the temple portion of the Mana Palace, they are easily spawnable when accessing one of the seven orb rooms. Two doom swords with always spawn. Doom Swords can be encountered again at the Mana Fortress.

Ninja Gloves (Mana Palace)

These gloves are dropped by Dark Stalkers. These guys basically look like black ninjas. They can be found in the Great Mana Palace once it is accessible. These gloves can be missed upon completing the Mana Palace all the way to the end. High level magic can kill them quickly. After the player completes the underground portion of the Great Mana Palace there are a few places to farm. The player can backtrack into the subway area and find a room that is best for their preference. Dark Stalkers can be encountered again at the Mana Fortress.

Dragon Coil (Pure Lands)

This coil is dropped by Ice Bandits. They look like blue versions of the trident throwing fish encountered in the Upperlands. A great area to farm is right from the beginning in the third transition to the North. Ice Bandits will spawn in an open shallow pond area with two waterfalls. They are weak against Salamando magic.

Watcher Ring (Pure Lands)

This ring is dropped by Eggplant Man. They look like purple versions of the Eggplant men encountered in the previous evil temples. They can be found in the Pure Lands once it is accessible. If the player completes dragon boss fights in the Pure Lands, they will not be able to go back to previous areas unless they leave the Pure Lands. They are most often encountered after the first dragon fight. Progressing after the Blue Dragon and towards the end of Pure Lands will cause this item to be permanently lost for farming. Any area encountered with the Eggplant man is typically good. Simply exit and enter the area and keep killing them. These guys like to cast Lucid Barrier which gives temporary immunity to physical attacks. The shapeshifter gray blob can possibly spawn an Eggplant Man but this is rare and not ideal for item farming.

Imp's Ring (Pure Lands)

This ring is dropped by Ghosts. They look like yellow versions of the clown spirits encountered from earlier in the game. Ghosts are most often encountered after the Dragon Worm boss which looks like a giant white snake. After the snake, if the player heads right they will find an area with three Ghosts to hunt. They typically cannot be physically attacked by weapons. However, they are weak against Lucent Beam.

Amulet Ring (Mana Fortress)

This ring is dropped by Tsunami. They look like cyan blobs with arms and can be found on the first floor in the Mana Fortress. Level seven Freeze, Acid Storm and Energy Drain are often casted if the player becomes too close to them. They also have the ability to make more Tsunami clones and are weak against Salamando.

Faerie's Ring (Mana Fortress)

This ring is dropped by the Wolf Lord. They look like a black fighting wolf with golden hair. These particular enemies are dangerous and have high attack power. They can buff themselves with Lunar Boost and Moon Saber. Every hit from the Moon Saber will take health away and give it to the Wolf Lord. If the player is not a high enough level or has poor equipment, they can take on some serious damage or even get taken out by a critical hit. Wolf Lords can be found on the first floor of the Mana Fortress and are weak against Lumina.

Was just going to comment that the basilisk isn't Mana Palace exclusive, but I see two comments ago, two years ago, someone pointed this out. A bit tedious to get it from the Mana Fortress though, the door he spawns near has 3 other enemies who spawn before him meaning you need to kill 1 of them, scroll the spawn point off and then back onto the screen. Definitely don't be like me and grind those out at the Mana Palace if you can.

So basically all the important stuff is at the end in the last 3 places you go. Pure Lands, Mana Palace, and Mana Fortress. If you clean house on those places you should get everything.

sidenote, its right before the last boss fight before the final boss right before the teleporter if anyones looking for it, seems theres only one the wiki says, but its a few seconds from an entrance, triggering it to appear isnt too hard, problem is the grind as usual

Can the Bandana headpiece be obtained anywhere other than the shop in Potos Village at the beginning of the game? ......asking for a friend 🙃

Like most drop-based achievements, getting all these items can be a long and painful grind. A lot of enemies seem to have a common and rare item drop associated with them. For items from the Mana Fortress, generally the weapon orbs are the rare drop, so the equipment is relatively easy to get. Cockatrice Cap took me about 2 1/2 - 3 hours and was the worst by far. I think I may have gotten lucky with the Pure Land though, since Royal Jams seem to be the common drop there from some of the enemies, but I still got the equipment relatively quickly. Good luck to everyone after these items. It all comes down to luck, but killing the enemies faster with high level magic can help speed up the process.

I'm convinced the Cockatrice Cap doesn't actually exist and is just a mean-spirited prank by the creator of this guide. I spent WELL OVER AN HOUR farming Basilisks in the waterfall room in the Mana Palace, killing the same 4 fucking Basilisks over and over again until I was almost reduced to tears. Maybe one in fifty of the motherfuckers would even drop a chest at all, and it would INVARIABLY be another fucking Faerie Walnut. Fuck that shit.
