How to fix the the game in the easiest/painless way

I think it doesnt come off as a big surprise that the steam version of the game is not quite the best version to play, littered with bugs and other problems that are making the gameplay experience quite frustrating. But fear not, there is a solution!

Now before I start, a little obligatory disclaimer:

The following describe method is not an official one, nor is it endorsed by Bethesda or Headfirst productions, and as of such I cannot guarantee that it will work on all systems or without issues. Please make sure to use this fix only for legal bought copy of the game

Now onto the actual fix: all you need to do is replace the CoCDCoTELauncher.exe and COCMainWin32.exe with the ones from here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HiLP67IFDYqX74U_Dc9vAGqPh2KE413Y?usp=sharing (overriding the already existing files)

This, among other things fixes :

-The triangle rain graphical bug
-The crash at the ladder in the prologue chapter if Jack doesnt climb down fast enough
-general compatibility issues(?)

EDIT: I got the confirmation by $L!CK_J.Mi$t@ that by coupling the dcote patch with the fixe listed above also irons out the missing arch demons bug ( Thank you again for letting me know)


The only possible issue I have witnessed on my end (some confirmed they didnt had this problem so it could be very well on my end only) is that the keyboard remapping screen doesnt show the buttons correctly they are set to (while still technically registering them).


I tested this fix on Windows 7 64 bit, it very much should work on Win 10 as well and possibly on Win 8 as well (need confirmation of this).

If there is anything I may have missed or if you have found any additional bugfixes that can be applied, please do let me know.

Hoping I was able to help out as many users as I can dvelving into the unnerving world of Call of Cthulhu without pesky problems ruining the immersion.

The fix work but now i dont have the option for my monitors refresh rate. on 60 the game is too britght and even if i put the brightness on low everything is still visable...

This fix is still gone jan 27 2020 as far as the link goes...tried to drag it to google but that does not work. So I have to try another fix instead -if this fix had a serious issue lWhat is the problem with this fix?
