THE MISSION, explained.
Defection
Is what the mission for farming Harrow Systems is called.
Here is the wikia article[warframe.wikia.com] explaining the mission in depth.

However, all you need to know is this:
  • There are three tiers; for the best chance of getting the systems, go tier 2 or 3. AKA Yursa on Neptune[warframe.wikia.com] or Caracol on Saturn[warframe.wikia.com].
  • Going solo will only spawn 1 squad at a time, do not go solo.
  • Harrow Systems only drops every 8 squads rescued. Whatever length you want to run the mission, make it a multiple of 8 (8, 16, 24, 32, etc).
  • The first 6 squads only spawn one at a time, after the first six squads, they spawn two at a time; because of this, longer runs of defection are recommended over short runs.

Please read all of this guide before commenting.
Squad Composition
A farming squad for defection is composed of two teams of two players each. The teams each pick between locations B and C to ferry squads from their locations to A, and then further to extraction.
I recommmend deciding before you start the mission who teams with who and which location they will manage. the composition for each team is as below:

Trinity
How to aquire Trinity.[warframe.wikia.com]
  • Trinity's 2 restores energy to her and the other warframes in range, when cast on an enemy. If used correctly, the team should never be low on energy.
  • Trinity's 4 replenishes health and shields, including the survivors health. In conjunction with her 2, she can constantly keep the team and the survivors topped up on health.

Nova
How to aquire Nova[warframe.wikia.com]
  • Nova's 3 makes a portal to where ever she is facing, which lasts for a period of time. She, other warframes and the survivors can walk into these portals and instantly appear on the far end of their range. Survivors however will not purposefully walk into them, so placing them along the survivors path will be needed.
  • Nova's 4 is a powerful crowd controll ability, which will speed up and slow down the enemies in range dependent on power strength. For defection, a high power strength is needed, to stop enemies from being an imediate danger, and to assist Trinity's second ability.

There two frames are chosen specificaly for their synergy, and Nova's portals are what makes this method the fastest.

Other Frames
  • Loki like Nova can also teleport survivors instantly, but unlike Nova, can only teleport 1 at once, making him sub-par. Worth the mention incase someone does not have Nova.
  • Oberon can keep the survivors topped up on health at all times. He can not however restore energy to his team mates, which is why trinity is used over him, because nova needs energy a lot.
  • Limbo can be used to keep the survivors from taking any damage at all from enemies, and with his [Haven] augment he can also restore health. If attempting to run defection solo, can be a better alternative.
  • This guide is for making the mission as fast as possible, which utilizes nova's portal. If really struggling to find someone with a nova, frames which have an ability that does minimal damage and has a large aoe aka CC frames are optimal. Such as Nyx or Vauban.
Trinity's Role
Energy Restoration
Trinity should be constantly checking their energy and that of their team-mates, and using their 2 to keep both full. You can see how much energy and health teammates have at the top right corner of your screen. You only need to pay attention to the energy of your partner, as the two teams will most likely be out of range of each other.
Trinity should make sure they are not surrounded by enemies when using their 2, as they will not be able to move or attack during the casting.

Health Restoration
Trinity should cast their 4 whenever the survivors blue icon starts to flash red. They should also refil the survivor's health when approaching a capsule, to reserve energy, thus reducing time refilling capsules.

Other Roles
  • Calling the next set of survivors using the console at their location as soon as they can.
  • Refilling the capsules with energy.
  • Moving on the survivors when Nova is ready for them.
  • Holding doors open for Nova, to increase the distance the portals will teleport the survivors.
  • Reviving fallen survivors.
Nova's Role
Portals
Nova should be using their portals to teleport the survivors along corridoors and acros gaps which would usually slow down their transit. Timing is important, as the portals are only there for a short period. Learning the path that the survivors take during the first rescue will make placing the portals later a lot easier.

Crowd Control
Nova's 4 as stated earlier is in excelent crowd control. Whenever entering a new area with enemies unefected with their 4, Nova should use it. This ability reduces the speed of enemies drastically, rendering them almost harmless.
This ability is crucial to this tactic, as it reduces the need to kill enemies, which will aid Trinity in using their 2. If at all possible, killing enemies should be avoided, as long as they are under the effects of Molecular prime(Nova's 4th).

Other Roles
Using portals to return to their locations, and to ferry the trinty there too.
Auras
Aura mods that will benefit your squad the most, in order of helpfulness
  1. Infested Impedence[warframe.wikia.com]
  2. Energy Siphon[warframe.wikia.com]
  3. Toxin Resistance[warframe.wikia.com]
  4. Rejuvination[warframe.wikia.com]
  5. Sprint Speed[warframe.wikia.com]
  6. Physique[warframe.wikia.com]
  7. Stand United[warframe.wikia.com]

Your choice of aura should be determined with your squad mates before starting. They are a lot more effective when stacked with other players, so try to use one which everyone has, and use this only as a section for prioritizing aura mods over others, and not filtering players.
As with everything in warframe, the effectiveness of each of these changes with playstyle, and your squad's may differ from mine.
Weapons
You do not need specific weapons...
Killing enemies effected by Nova's 4th should be avoided; because of this, there is no real need to bring specific weapons with you (with one exception; see below). Bring which ever primary/secondry you are most comfortable with, but remember to relax on the trigger.

Except for melee!
Because this is an infested mission, most enemies will be attacking with melee. This can lead to unfortunate situations where you are surrounded with enemies, being beaten to death.
To avoid this, bring a weapon with a large melee range, with a stance that will hit enemies around you in a radius. I use Galatine prime, but Whips and other long range melee are also viable. Using mods like primed reach will only help the situation.
Tips and Tricks
Buy harrow in the market, oh yee of little faith!

T2 and T3 have the same drop chance. So if you are going for a short run, T2 on Saturn will be easier because it starts with lower level enemies.

Farming can be very boring. Try to listen to music or a podcast.

Leave any tips and tricks you learnt while farming in the comments, I will add them here to assist others.

Thankyou very much for reading my guide, I hope this helps you and others. If it didn't help you, feel free to give it a thumbs down... But if it did, you know what to do!

The Limbo method works like a dream. I had been using Vauban before but having high duration with Banish is safer, faster, and easier. Now that I have the Systems after about 30 runs I never have to do this mission type again.

Also, If you turn off ping requirements for matchmaking you can get into international squads, so more chance of finding a group at the cost of lag.

Hey Gilvard, sorry to hear you aren't finding a squad. I'd recommend going limbo if you have to go solo, just because it's roll to sit there while doing other things. Nowhere near as efficient, and not as good a use as your time, but a better alternative than buying him with plat (probably.)

This guide is very useful and well put together. Sadly guides don't bring players back to this pretty garbage mission type. I just started the grind and I cannot for the life of me find another player, and playing solo as stated in this guide takes way too long and is just a waste of time trying to get above 8 squads.

Thanks Squako, Good advice. I'll use your build for this guide.
squako Aug 20, 2018 @ 9:12am
obviously i don't mean to shit on your build because honestly for a 0 forma build lots of twitch prime users are probably just gonna copy it (it's a good EV build after all) but there are more builds i want to add to the higher end players who want to go on and just get a bunch of friends to spam defection in hopes for the systems (or just having a bad time doing the defection sortie and don't use like some oberon rage cheese or whatever)
squako Aug 20, 2018 @ 9:08am
lil late but i wanna go ahead and derive the best arcane to use is obviously Arcane Resistance, and that for the people who have a dash polarity on their aura slot there's a different build to use which is Infested Impedance + Coaction Drift, Natural Talent, Flow, Streamline, Fleeting Expertise, Transient Fortitude, Intensify, and +1 (this can be Vitality or Redirection) (image here with non maxed R10 mods https://i.imgur.com/iGcXlfH.png ). Trinity's 4 goes off of affinity range (and therefore Vazarin focus would be the best choice) hence why we don't need range mods in the first place. If the argument to have range mods is for EV then there's no reason to have a crazy amount of range because the nova is typically nearby the target EV and they're not somewhere off the planet or anything
