Introduction
This is my video guide for getting 5 skulls on Nightmare difficulty.
I love both OMD and OMD2.
So, I decided to make this guide.
I want my guide will help someone.

  • On this level, Sappers are only problem. So like in my video, put some Grinders and Brimstones against Sappers.
  • Build Barricades to let orcs come left side only.

Story Act1 - 06. Hidden Gulch

  • Build Barricades on right side and center, then orcs come left side only.
  • See my video, my placement of Barricades, 1 Grinder kills all Sappers.
  • On early waves, use Thunder Ring to beat orcs army.
  • Against fliers, I recommend to use Haymakers.

Story Act1 - 07. Precipice

  • I have no idea to deal fliers. So, I blew down them by my self. Lots of Tar Traps give you enough time.
  • At first, I put a Grinder and Barricades to kill all Kobold Runners. They are annoying.
  • Like my video, in the east and west, I build 4 kill zone. They beat Gnolls and Sappers as well as almost any other orcs.

Story Act2 - 01. Servant Entrance

  • Void Wall is best trap on this level.
  • Dummy-Barricade+Grinder and Brimstone work well for killing Sappers.
  • Brimstone is also good against Gnolls.


Story Act2 - 02. Passages

  • Very easy map.
  • See my video, build 4 Barricades and 2 Grinders at second floor.
  • Build kill zone without Barricade.
  • Have a tea time!

Story Act2 - 03. Corridors

  • You have to defend both south and north.
  • I recommend to have Ice Amulet to kill fliers and large enemys.
  • Archers or Ballistas will work against fliers too.
  • On north, like my video, build kill zone with Grinders and Floor Scorchers.
  • On south, 2 Barricades block the one side. And make your trap kingdom!

Story Act2 - 04. Upstairs Downstairs

  • This level isn't too hard, if you build 2 Kill zone on each entrances.
  • Grinder and Floor Scorcher are keys to kill Sappers and kobold runners.
  • If you finish 2 kill zone, its time to build Grinders and Barricades!

Story Act2 - 05. Crunch

  • Use Decoy+Archer tactics, it makes this level easier. Trust me.
  • Place Coinforge in order to get extra money and give orcs +20% damge debuff.
  • I recommend to use Haymaker against fliers. On one side, 5 to 7 Haymaker will be enough.
  • Always see map, run and run!

Story Act2 - 06. Mirror Image

  • At first floor, place a Grinder. It will kill all kobold runners.
  • Take control Trolls with Spore Mushroom, or kill them by yourself.
  • On early waves at south side, use Thunder Ring to beat orcs.

Story Act2 - 07. Wind Up

  • At Rift Point, Build Barricades to let Grinder kill all kobold Runners.
  • Build kill zone with using Tar+Mace. After that, add Grinders and Floor Scorchers.


Story Act2 - 08. Twisted Halls

  • Watch my video, build Barricades, and let all orcs come west side only.
  • Against fliers, Swing maces and Archers will work well. Same as Barricades, Archers have to stand around north rift point in order to let all Gnolls come west. You can defend them more easier.
  • Grinders are key to kill annoying Kobold Runners.
  • On 4th wave, 1 Grinder is needed at entrance of stair.
  • You should be hurry, you can save time by using Mana Rage Trinket and spamming spells.

  • Defend Barricades from Sappers!
  • Block one side by Barricades and put 2 Brimstones in order to let Sappers explode.

Classics - 02. Lunch Break

  • You cant put any Ceiling trap.
  • Build Barricades and let orcs come one side.
  • Grinders and Floor Scorchers work well.

Classics - 03. Sludge Hole

  • Third classic map, but difficult for soloing.
  • You will force to block 1 or 2 point by Barricades, and put some Brimstones in order to kill Zappers. Like my video, it's good idea to let orcs come east. Don't miss them!
  • Wind belt and Swing Maces are works well.

Classics - 04. Chaos Chamber

  • Set traps 2 narrow passages.
  • Player had better defend on one side and let traps defend the other side.

Classics - 05. The Arena

  • Bit trickey. Check my video.
  • On first and second wave, block by Barricades to let orcs pass north-west small passage.
  • Use Wind belt to control orcs.
  • On 9 wave Sappers will appear from north entrance. So, build another Barricades and sell Previous ones to set kill zone.

Classics - 06. The Library

  • This way is too delicate. Sometimes blowing staffs, like Swing Mace or Floor Scorcher, undo magic. Don't use them.
  • Boring, I was very very sleepy.

Classics - 07. Hard Climb

  • Simply, I used Archer+Decoy tactics.
  • Build Barricades to let orcs come west.
  • On second floor, 5 Archers will be enough.
  • On first to third waves, survive with Wind Belt.

Classics - 08. The Squeeze

  • Third wave will be problem. Kobold Runners and Sappers come both side. So, build kill zone with Grinder and without barricades. It also work against Gnolls.
  • Against fliers, Ice Amulet is best weapon on this level. Kill them by yourself and check alert!

Classics - 09. Stairs of Doom

  • On first and second waves, Grinders are needed for killing Kobold Runners.
  • On thired wave, Sappers will appear. Watch out!
  • Build kill zone the area with ceiling. I recommend Swing Mace. It has good damage and sometimes throw down orcs into poor.
  • Build kill-zone on first floor too. It make dealing Sappers and Gnolls easier.

Classics - 10. Finale

  • I found good way to deal annoying Sappers. See my SS ( northwest, northeast 1 and 2, southeast 1 and 2, southwest ). Dummy-Barricades lure Zappers. Grinders and Brimstones are good stuff to kill them. These Magic-Barricades also negate all other enemies going through narrow passages.
  • Sapers appear from north, east and south. Not west!
  • On begging of this level, you don't have enough money to build Barricade-maze. So, get minimum-defence for Rift, and on later sell and build your kingdom! Example ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 )
  • 1st wave: See my SS ( 1, 2 ). Build barricades in order to surround Rift. Put 1 Grinder and 1 Floor Scorcher on west-northwest.
  • 2nd wave: Sappers! You can have time to set up some Sapper-Killer. End of this wave, sell all north Barricades like this.
  • 3rd wave: Gnoll Grenadiers and Orcs. Rebuild Barricades to make maze ( 1, 2 ). I recommend to use Rolling Log to beat Gnoll Grenadiers.
  • 4th wave: Trolls and Orcs. Run and build Sapper-Killer. You can use Rolling Log.
  • 5th wave: Fire and Ice Ogres. Run and build Sapper-Killer.
  • 6th wave: Sappers and Gnoll Hunters. For now, You can keep Barricades from Sappers. Gnoll Hunters are not problem because they cant climb to 3rd floor. Jump up and watch poor Gnolls!!
DLC1: Fire and Water
DLC: Fire and Water - 01. Traffic Jammed

  • Simply, build kill zone in center of the map.
  • Sometimes Fire Rings happen to explode. Watch out!

DLC: Fire and Water - 02. Double Decker

  • Water Rings will be problem, if you kill them on the ground.
  • Spamming Spring Floors and Push Traps makes this easier.
  • Tar Traps also work and give you time.

DLC: Fire and Water - 03. The West Wing

  • Lots of Dwarfs solve all problem. They are good against both Fire and Water Elementals.

DLC2: Family Ties

  • Void Wall is OP on this level.
  • Shock Zappers are good idea to deal Gnolls and large enemies.

  • Dummy-Barricade + Grinders are key to beat Sappers.

  • The passage of center with ceiling solve all problems. Build your own kill zone.
DLC3: Are We There Yeti?

  • Floor Scorcher and Flame Bracer shine on this DLC, because Yeti and Ice Ogre have weakness against fire.
  • Build Barricades in order to come orcs north passage.
  • First 1 to 4 waves will be bit hard, use Grinders and Flame Bracer well.
  • After that, it will be easier.

DLC3: Are We There Yeti? - 02. The Hive

  • Tar and Floor Scorchers are keys on this level. Fire AoE Dmage is awesome and 2 slow staffs give you enough time.
  • Simply, spam Tar+Scorchers. Put Floor Scorchers in order to throw down orcs. These keep Goblin Sapper dead too.
  • Maximize player's ability, get spells.
  • 1st wave: Put 4 archers near Rift. These men are not only against fliers but also decoy. Tar+Scorchers for east. You should kill orcs by yourself on this wave.
  • 2nd wave: Add 4 archers on upland.
  • 3rd wave: Kobold Runners come from west. So, player have to go there.
  • 4th wave: Hardest wave on this level. Use Mana rage Trinket and spam spells.
  • 5th wave or later: Add 4 archers on upland and many Tar+Scorchers. Things become easier. Good luck!


DLC3: Are We There Yeti? - 03. Chilled Cavern

  • Things aren't hard, If Magic-Barricadeswork.
  • I didn't rely on Archers against fliers, do it by yourself. Tar+Scorchers give you enough time.
  • Spam Tar+Scorchers, then add Decoys and Spike Walls.
Item Selection
My recommend Items

Crossbow
Best weapon in this game. Unlimited mana with Stun and have insane headshot damage.

Lightning Ring
Must to have on nightmare difficulty due to game broken AoE Chill.
As Sorceress, She has no tar trap. So, this will help a lot.
I recommend to have with Manarage Trinket.

Tar Trap
Slow is basic tactics for Tower Defense Game.
Warmage's best friend.

Grinder
This wall trap has good sustain damage against all enemies, but especially has effectiveness against Sappers and Kobold Runners.
On some level, a Barricade-Decoy and a Grinder kill all Sappers.

Great guide and nice videos! Everyone has their own unique way for completing the levels, and it's great to watch better strategies at work!

I just completed all the levels nightmare and 5 skull, and I found The Hive to be the most challenging. I used a similar strategy to yours, except I found push traps are highly effective at removing the vast bulk of enemies, enabling you to concentrate on the harder ones, namely being the ogres and fliers. I didn't bother with tar, but placed extra scorchers, esp on the paths, facing in the other direction to ensure everything gets fire. Time is a real problem so placing the traps as high as possible is key. Nice work!

Just went through the entire campaign and DLC on Nightmare and Five-Skulled them all.

This guide is the best if you want to pass Nightmare.

Hey, for the act1 05. big valleys, zappers work better than grinders, with better range and with chain, they always take out the entire line quickly
