By Zeruel
Introduction!
This guide are the reasons why having multiple characters is a good thing, including what you can gain by having multiple and even a faster way to level new characters.

Fresh Start
The obvious reason, you might just fancy playing through the game again. Or perhaps your friend picked up a copy of The Division and you might want to play through it with him without ruining the fun of the game using your overpowered level 30, 290 gear score character. Playing through from a level 1 has other uses too, such as:
  • Try out all those blueprints you got playing through the first time, your resources are shared between accounts (I believe they do not on console)
  • Able to gather lower level crafting materials, once you hit level 30 you only gonna be able to loot high tier materials from a source (Unless deconstructing items)
  • Maybe try a new playstyle, I know you could do this at level 30 but you would have to change around a lot of your character setup.
PVP and the DarkZone
Your DZ level will be level 1 on your new character, meaning once you hit level 30 (Or even before) you could just go fight in the DZ without losing your precious DZ levels from your main, your main can also be used to help equip your new character and will allow you to go beserk without fear of losing DZ levels (I believe on PC you can still lose DZ keys since they're shared)
If you are finding the PVE a little stale and want to try some more PVP, this may be for you.
Farming Exotics, Pheonix Credits and Division Tech
My main reasons for making a new character are these:
  • Able to farm daily missions for the Pheonix Credits multiple times.
  • Able to complete daily missions and weekly missions multiple times.
  • Every Saturday Exotic Caches are reset meaning with every level 30 you have, you can get 7 Exotic Caches and between 154 to 210 division tech each week.
Daily Mission Farming
Everyday you have 3 missions, you get 15 pheonix credits for completing them on hard and 20 for completing them on challenging and the 6 for killing a named enemy. Pheonix credits like other currencies are carried over multiple accounts but each account can complete them each day for the daily Pheonix credits.

Each character you have can get 123 Pheonix credits each day, so if you have 2 characters you can get 246. 3 characters and you can get 369 and 4 characters can get you 492 Pheonix credits each day (On Challenging difficulty you will also recieve an additional 30 Pheonix Credits) How ever to get the 492 each day you would need 4 level 30 accounts and the time to do 12 missions each day
Daily and Weekly Objectives
Each day you will get new objectives such as 'Collect 5 tools' and each week you will get new (But bigger) objectives also, the weekly objectives and daily objectives both give a cache for completion, weekly caches have a chance to give Exotic weapons, however they're not carried over to each account. So if you have multiple charcters and the time to complete up to 4 weekly objectives in a week then you can earn yourself 4 weekly caches, that is a chance for 4 exotic items (Only a chance not definite)
Exotic and Division Tech Farming
This was the main reason I created a 2nd character and leveled them to level 30. Every Saturday the 3 legendary missions and if you have the DLC, the 4 incursions reset, meaning each week you can earn 7 Exotic Crates per character, along with the 350 Pheonix credits for completing a heroic Incursion and Legendary mission. Exotic caches are 100% chance for an Exotic item and also give you 51 target intel and between 22 and 30 division tech. (Edited after the guide, it's actually 22 to 38 so below the sums for division tech are wrong)

1 Character - 7 Exotic Caches, 357 Target Intel and between 154 to 210 Division Tech.
2 Character's - 14 Exotic Caches, 814 Target Intel and between 308 to 420 Division Tech.
3 Character's - 21 Exotic Caches, 1,174 Target Intel and between 462 to 630 Division Tech.
4 Character's - 28 Exotic Caches, 1,988 Target Intel and between 616 to 840 Division Tech.

The more characters you have and the more you play, the more Pheonix Credits, Exotics and Division Tech you can gain, I currently have 2 characters and leveling the 2nd along with playing my main was quite hard.
Creating a new level 30 fast!
Sadly, if you do not have a friend willing to help you with this then you will have to level the normal way, But if you do. Create a new character and complete the Brooklyn tutorial (The 3 side missions and the taking back the precinct, then helicopter ride)

Then invite the level 30 friend to join your game and do the main missions, you will be very weak and be killed instantly most the time, but the more missions they complete for you, the higher you will go. You may need to also do some side missions to get to the complete level 30, but it will be a much faster way to hit that magic number.
Thanks for reading and Credits
I learned about the daily mission Pheonix credit farming online when I saw an article about the perks of making a new character, It also included the part about the DZ. However, did not mention the Exotic Caches and so when I found out gave me a nice suprise. Please rate the quide if you found it helpful and feel free to comment.

Yeah you can have a team of 4, but if you all have gear scores of 276 and they have gear scores of 290, they are stronger in terms of guns and armor. You could beat them, but in a fire fight. Probably not

You can but once you hit level 30, you get gear scores and then the PVP area and also area to find the division tech has a range of like 20 between people, so you will encounter stronger players.

I believe the title is a super amazing one, yet there are some things that are kind of bothersome to it in an Eve online type of way that get in the way of the cool action. I know some people will defend the farminess and etc...yet to me I just want to PVP mainly and have fun, without all the super high attention to grind/farming...So can't I just level to 30 and then maybe get a proper team of 4, pick a simple build and do the PvP I bought this for?

Division Tech is a crafting resource and is mainly found in the dark zone (PVP/PVE part of the city) When you hit level 30, items will have gear scores, higher the gear score, more deadly the weapon.

You may find a weapon or gear you like but it may be very low damage and gear score, you can use division tech to increase the items gear score increasing how good it is, maximum gear score is 286 on a weapon I believe.

Division Tech is used at an optimisation station to upgrade weapons and gear (Increase their gear score)
