Introduction
Despite for any potential negative opinions - TDA Hatsune Miku model has a very fine and complex mechanism that one should not overlook, which is also a reason why this guide were made. For anyone who is looking for Gmod screenshooting, TDA Hatsune Miku model is a good start (beside TF2 models)

Addons Required

Prepare the Ragdoll

TDA Hatsune Miku model is a bit broken but she can be fixed. First of all, let us spawn the ragdoll of her, hold the menu key (C by default) and right click on the model - choose standing pose.

As you can see, her signature twintails is pointing upward and ungrabbable. You can not do anything unless her hair is fixed. So, please follow this steps.

  1. Hold the menu key (C) and right click on the model - choose "Make animatable".
  2. Miku twintails will be temporary fixed, but fly upward. Hold the menu key (C) and right click on the model again, but this time - choose "Edit Bones".
  3. Do nothing to her bones. Hold the menu key (C) and right click on the model again - choose "Make Ragdoll". Then, choose "Stop Editing Bones".
Now, move the ragdoll with Ragdoll Mover a bit. With her hair fixed, your virtual idol - Miku - is now ready for some actions.

Note : do not forget to save the dupe of the ragdoll for later use.
Face Expressions

Default Miku face is kinda cute but she can be better. Face poser tool can make TDA Miku to "express" a lot of anime emotion with wide range of professional options available. Here is samples of them.

Bones
TDA Miku has addition bones aka. giggle bones. Due to difficulty, the most important bones are skirt and tie as they are prone to clipped - and sometime make you feel extremely awkward.

Poses
Overall

In order to get a beautiful screenshot, you need to learn how to take a photographs first or at least has a sense to do so. You need to learn how to pose in real life or how to draw a human or else you might fail miserably. But do not worry, you can easily learn from trial and error with this model.

From now on, the guide will have no instruction to do something as it will be extremely complicated. However, the guide will provide you wth some tips and samples instead.

Note : Ragdoll mover can move an entire ragdoll by clicking on the pelvis and give it a direction or rotation of movement.

The pose : Be humanly

Hatsune Miku is based on a teen female human (duh). Her behavior and pose is also need to base on one - or at least - the best pose of one. You can find a picture of teenage girl or look at yourself in a big mirror and pose a "casual" standing in order to study how human anatomy works (assuming you are human nevertheless).

Most process need to be done by either using a ragdoll mover tool or physic gun or by a help of gravity and surrounding in some case. So, making a pose is time consuming in order to polish and finish, so be patience.

Tip : work on a different camera angle or look around the model to see if the pose is good enough.

The bet way to test your ragdoll skill is - trying to imitate the first image of Miku.[ec.crypton.co.jp] This is proven difficult as TDA model have no movable neck bone, so she might looks weird at some angles.
Bonemerging and Manual attaching
Easy Bonemerge Tool : a way to easily attach item to the model

All you need to do is,
  1. Take the tool, right click at the model.
  2. Point at a wanted item, right click again.
  3. Done.
However, the easily it is, the risky it is. The item sometime can not attach to the model properly as TDA Miku is quite small or lack of some bones. So, manual attaching is recommending.

Manual attaching

With a combination of ragdoll mover to move the item and the model plus welding tool, you can make the model "hold" an item. Even though it is time consuming and prone to break but it is much more flexible than a bonemerge tool.

Use prop resizer (aka. collision resizer) tool to make the item small enough to be hold by Miku (she is fairly small). 0.75x should do just fine on an average items. Welding also must be done between the item and Miku hands directly.

Tips
Eye vanish : a slide for auto tracking eyes

Eye vanish slide can be used to let TDA Miku keep tracking her eyes at the camera. The value must not be lesser than 0.15 and more than 0.55 (0.15 < x < 0.55) or the eyes will not work.
Have some fun with Miku!

TDA Hatsune Miku is a very good model to play around. Even it is a bit broken.

Your welcome.

Thanks a bunch, that method worked out perfectly. Also your collection was great, subscirbed to it immediately.

If you choose the reference pose and the model is "shrinking", then all is lost. Manual posing is required then.

Ungrabbable arms? Not gonna lie, it took me weeks to solve the problem, but here is how.

1 ) Stand pose the model
2 ) Right click and select "make animatable" on the model
3 ) Use Easy Animation Tool on the model.

The tool -> https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=104604709

4 ) Find and select "Reference" animation or "T-pose" in the list.
5 ) Right click on the model and select "make Ragdoll"
6 ) Save dupe, done.

The reason why the arm is grabbable is its bones are malfuntion. Using animation tool can fix the problem. Anyway, I have fixed dupes of nearly every TDA vocaloid here if you are interesting.

Great guide, helped me a lot to fix the standing pose issue I had. Although I have a different issue with other TDA models, after using Stand Pose with them, their arms become ungrabbable. I tried using the same method with them but no luck. Do you have any advice on solving that issue?

I know. TF2 is just dumb.

TF2 or Team Fortress 2. Their characters are the most popular one here in Gmod. You can see it yourself in Gmod's artwork and screenshot - plenty of them.

TF2? Well if that floats your boat...
Boaris  [autor] 25 FEB 2018 a las 10:35 a. m.
Well, I do not mind that. If you find my work to be cringy, you can leave. I do not force you to be here or admire the guide.

There are plenty of model to work here in Gmod. You can choose whatever you like and I am sure there are a guide for it. Maybe you should start with TF2 model as they are the most popular one.
