Solution to crashing on the loading screen when trying to start or join a game

Is How to Survive crashing on the loading screen every time you try to start a new game? Try doing this.

The Solution

If How to Survive is crashing on the loading screen every time you try to start a new game, try going to your install folder <drive>\Steam\steamapps\common\How to Survive and renaming the "Video" folder. I renamed it to "_Video" myself but I don't think it matters what you pick. Do this, launch the game and hopefully you'll be able to play the game now.

This is a pretty specific tip so if you have other crash issues, such as not even being able to launch to the main menu then you may have some other issue. If like me and many others your issue is as described here though, it's worth a go.

I've spent a long time trying to find the solution to this and I've only just stumbled across it. Here's hoping that as a guide, the information a bit more accessible.
