Assembling Robocraft's Cosmetic Mech-Heads
De Yugo2Slow
edited 5/27/18 ** Gonna get the Royale Mech-Head ASAP. Reclassified EAGLE as an Epic part. Other changes forthcoming. **

Have you ever wanted to dress up your latest robot with some cosmetic parts and attempted to put together one of the cosmetic heads that FreeJam provides? Or maybe you just want to use the TAUNTS that come with them. These Mech-Heads are good looking, quite distinct, and fairly rare in-game. They are also notoriously difficult to assemble. If you are like me, you probably tried and within a short time threw your hands up in frustration...

HERE'S THE EASY WAY -->

This guide uses a systematic approach to the quick and easy construction of each of Robocraft's 11 cosmetic heads. The construction of each mech-head is documented in an "A - B - C" way with illustrations and clear instructions. All of these models use 6 parts arranged symmetrically, three on a side.

Part of the ease in construction comes from the "Starting Block" -- a base block with color-coded component attachment points. I do suggest that you do your first build for each mech-head on a stand-alone Starting Block. Most of these models have parts that extend away from the main structure, and it's likely they will interfere with something on your bot. A preliminary build using a Starting Block allows for pre-inspection, correction of any points of interference, and pain-free integration of these parts onto your bot.

In addition to the obvious eye-candy benefits, FreeJam has included a unique animation and taunt sound effect for each Head. It's beyond the scope of this guide to record, link, or publish these taunts -- suffice it to say that I think all of the taunts are fun and well-done and a few are definitely "go to" for me. :p If you aren't interested in sculpted bot-heads the Taunts alone might be worth the effort!!

I hope you enjoy your project and finished bot - see you in the arena!! Good Luck and Have Fun!

Please don't hesitate to share any thoughts or comments you might have - this is my first guide and I know there is plenty of room for improvement so rate it and comment!! Thank You!

The Process and The Starting Block
THiS IS THE KEY TO IT ALL - the Starting Block!
Make a 3 x 3 x 3 cube attached to the front of a post 5 or 6 cubes high.

Since you'll probably want to integrate the 3x3x3 cube onto the greater structure of your robot to make building the head easier. Try pre-building your mech-head on a stand-alone Starting Block before grafting it onto your bot - this helps you to become aware of possible points of interference and allows you to design and edit for those before-hand. You just eliminated about half of the possible frustrations!
.
The Starting Block - a 3x3x3 cube shape mounted on top or on the front of a short post:
.

.
.
Each of these cosmetic mech-head assemblies has six parts set symmetrically, three each on the left and right. To help with visualizing the placement of the parts each Starting Block is coded with three colors at the mounting points. Instructions for each part will have the color to install on and the orientation. Every part also has a picture of how it would appear as attached properly on the Starting Block. After the three parts are shown indiviually I present a final picture of the finiished Mech-Head.
.

.
Each Starting Block is referenced from a frontal perspective -- as if you were face to face with the block. On the front face cubes are numbered from 1 (top left) through 9 (bottom right). These cubes are referenced using CHUCK -- Cosmetic Head Universal Communication Kode. For this example CHUCK would be "Orange 1, Gray 7, and Blue 10" (behind Orange). Since these are symmetrical "Orange 1" means both "Orange 1 and 3," etc... Brave CHUCKERs say "O1G7B10"
.

Use the block, Luke!.

Yugo2Slow you know you can get royale for FREE now, so anyone who gets it, can get the T-Rex Mask. That's what my previous comment meant.

As much as I have and do enjoy Robocraft -- I didn't have such a warm experience with Royale and at this time don't plan on spending any money to buy it - hence, no new head. I'll try and find a way but it probably won't happen soon :( This certainly illustrates how obsolescence can occur right in the middle of things! Enjoy the T-Rex if you have it - I think there is a set of steps for assembly here in the comments!

They banned me from the forum cause i trolled them about the state of the game, like Pit mode, lol. If they came up with one good game mode, all they have now is BA, and thats crappy 5v5. It was a justified banning.

Update it with the t-rex mask since anyone can get royale now

The T-Rex mask wasn't included, but most likely it's because it's only obtained by users who have robocraft royale.
