I wish the author would have given Gal something. If an accidental target combo throw attempt turned into bouncing off harmlessly instead of getting grabbed, headbutted or worse, even that would be an improvement. Some fix is needed in my mind. The rest of the game is awesome.
Hey, it's no problem dude! I made this guide to help people like you (mostly the people on the forums complaining the game is too hard).
I've been thinking of making a new and improved version of this guide that not only tackles how players could approach the bosses but also how they could approach the levels themselves (namely the raft and final gauntlet levels).
Anyway, I hope it helps, and I hope you learn to love the game just as much as I do (comes with getting better).
Thank you again so much for the quick and thoughtful reply! As your new award says, you've been Extra Helpful!
Thank you so much for the very, very thoughtful reply. I am already able to clear the Dobermans with full health, and can beat the boss with just over one life bar worth of damage taken. That said, your thoughtful reply provides a lot of things I can try to make the Servant battle more tolerable. Reading it was your favorite boss fight threw me, as I just want it not to ruin the game for me.
And this stupid 1,000 character limit is complete bullshit. It's my guide. I should be able to say whether or not long comments are allowed or not smh.
If there is one last thing I can say is that, when fighting the Dobermans, do as I said in my guide before, fight them one on one (btw you can kill all the rats and the last two drops knives, so you don't actually have to throw them, sry outdated guide lol). Try to minimize taking as much damage as possible and resist the temptation to eat the chicken found in the barrels until you have defeated them all (or at least there's simply one left). Going into the Servant's fight having half an HP bar is going to be hard.
I must remind you I'm no speed running pro at this game. I've gotten better over time, for sure, and this guide is actually a little out-dated considering my current skill level. These aren't strategies that will let you beat bosses in one life. Even I, myself, cannot fight the Servants as Gal without dying AT LEAST once. The only way I could see beating them without dying is to simply, well, "git gudder." Be on point with parries, manage special cool-down so you always have it when you need it, optimize combos, etc.
If you perform a target throw on Attary or the Servants, they will be able to grab you, but do not fret, if you press the jump button as you get grabbed, you will break out of the Servants throw and they will be knocked down. This applies to ALL enemy throws (the window to break free is more lenient on non-boss enemies).
One strategy Gal can use to fight the Servants is to position yourself so that the Servants come to you together, and then perform a standard jab jab jab combo (assuming you have baited them properly). The Servants do NOT have wake-up moves, so you can hover over their bodies and spam the punch button to attack them as they get up. This will generally lead to you being able to repeat the combo, unless the Servants perform a headbutt attack (and thus armor your hits). At that point, simply dash away. Unfortunately, trying to bunch them together after this is generally more difficult than what it is worth.
Parrying Attary's leap is incredibly easy once you get the timing down and will be VERY useful fighting the Servants. A tip for parrying Attary is to simply STAND STILL, wait for them to be above you (roughly Gal's head of space between you and Attary or Servant), and THEN press either left or right to get the parry. You can punish them once they land you can punish them with a combo. I will agree that fighting the Servants is easier with F.Norris and Ricardo than it is as Gal, but the Attary fight alone shouldn't be too much of a problem for her.
You shouldn't really try to parry the headbutt attack from Attary or the Servants; if you screw it up you will take waaaay too much damage, and the jab attack Attary and the Servants has is too fast for you to react to (and generally unpredictable).
Attary's a fun fight because, as Gal, you don't actually need to spend the fight running around at all. Her walk speed is fast enough to out-pace him, and as long as you stay out of Attary's punching range (when he does that swipe attack), you should be fine. You simply play some "footsies" with him (press pack and forth and back and forth until he does something stupid, like leap). Attary will approach you if you walk away, but he will retreat if you approach him, but of course, if you approach him to close he hits you, and if you go too far, he leaps. This is the same with the Servants, only you have two to worry about.
