Intro
It's cheap, easy to find, and easy to use! I'm sure I'm not the only person who plays this game with the F310 Gamepad. This will tell you what button number corresponds to what (more familiar) button. My goal here is to demystify this part of the Configuration Tool menu (the option when you launch the game, not the in-game options) and make the process of rebinding your controls a little easier. I will make a list for both of the controller's modes, XInput (Xbox 360 pad simulation) and DirectInput, since the F310 is a "dual action" pad.

Both of the controller's input modes are accepted by the game but each mode will have its unique limitations as of the current game version. Until (if) additional button support gets patched in, you will need to use an outside program of some kind to use the other buttons.

If you swtich from one mode to the other outside of the game, you will need to rebind the controls again to use the new mode or toggle back to the mode you last used; the game will not remember both. Don't switch while the game is running or your character will simply jump in place and your inputs won't be recognized until you switch back.

Playstation layout / Xbox layout ................. button #
XInput Mode
For XInput mode -

X / A ................................................... Button 1
O / B ................................................... Button 2
Square / X .......................................... Button 3
Triangle / Y ......................................... Button 4

L1 / Left bumper ................................. Button 5
R1 / Right bumper .............................. Button 6

Select / Back ...................................... Button 7
Start / Start ......................................... Button 8

L3 / ? .................................................. Button 9
R3 / ? ................................................. Button 10

L2 / Left trigger ................................... Button 11
R2 / Right trigger ................................ Button 12

Logo button ........................................ Button 13

When you use XInput mode, the game limits you to buttons 1-10. That means L2 & R2 (Left and Right Triggers) as well as the Logo button will not be recognized by the game. I really don't recommend using this mode if you can help it; DirectInput is better for this game (right now) because more buttons work.
DirectInput Mode
For DirectInput mode -

X / A ................................................... Button 2
O / B ................................................... Button 3
Square / X .......................................... Button 1
Triangle / Y ......................................... Button 4

L1 / Left bumper ................................. Button 5
R1 / Right bumper .............................. Button 6

L2 / Left trigger ................................... Button 7
R2 / Right trigger ................................ Button 8

Select / Back ...................................... Button 9
Start / Start ......................................... Button 10

L3 / ? .................................................. Button 11
R3 / ? ................................................. Button 12

The Logo button has no functionality in this mode.

When you use DirectInput mode, the game limits you to buttons 1-12. That means the Logo button will not be recognized by the game, which isn't a problem since that button doesn't work in this mode to begin with. Everything else will work.
Closing
For Umineko: Golden Fantasia, I recommend using DirectInput mode. Everything but the Logo button will work...and it's not like you need a 13th button anyway.

Just remember that how you set your buttons affects what you press to "Accept" and "Cancel" things. Accept is always what you set "Weak Attack" to and Cancel is always what you set "Medium Attack" to.

I know it's a hassle but I hope this information serves to lighten that hassle a tiny bit.

Happy playing!

@pioykowsky I'm not familiar with that controller, so I can't give you a comparison. The analog sticks seem okay on the F310; they're pretty responsive and I haven't noticed any problems on that front. I mainly use the D-pad in most games anyway as a personal preference. If you buy the F310 and the controller isn't to your liking, you should be able to return it and get your money back, I imagine.

Hey I'm probably gonna buy this one, but I have one main concern. I have old Logitech Dual Action (kinda reeaaaallly old) and it has really good working analog sticks - no deadzone in center nor outside. Does this one is as good as the old one or is it cheaped out? I've ben using cheaper pad for a while and it has analog deadzones in both specified areas and it's unusable for me ;(

@STRATOS198XAD There are only 3 macro options in the game's config: A+B, B+C, and A+B+C. You can bind them to any button you want.

Your normal options are A (weak), B (medium), C (strong), D (Touch/Tag), Taunt, and Start.

Thanks, I plan to buy the game and I just have this control. I did not know that the change in DI and XIN could make so much difference.

Does the game contain an option for macros? or you have to use software like Joy2Key?
