(SPOILER ALERT) How to defeat the Magic Pencil boss

(WARNING: SPOILERS) This is a guide that will explain in great detail how to defeat the Magic Pencil boss seen at the end of the remixed World 1. I've seen many people complain about the boss, so this guide/walkthrough will describe the steps necesarry to defeat the Magic Pencil boss.

Introduction

Hey! I assume that you've clicked on this guide to learn how to kill the Magic Pencil boss found at the end of the Remixed World 1. Well, fear not. While this boss is frustrating if you don't know how to beat it, after a lot of time, I was able to determine the steps necesarry to defeat this irritating boss. Once you learn how to beat the boss, it's actually extremely easy. So without further ado, here are the steps you must take to defeat the Magic Pencil boss.

Phase 1

Alright, so you've just gone into the door that the pencil has pointed at, and he's now currently trying to stab you. The pencil will do this three times. The developers of Fancy Pants seem to have put some effort into this boss, as its AI cannot be fooled by just simply running forward. Instead, he will anticipate your movements and stab where you are about to be, not where you will be (probably a Hanzo main). In order to avoid this, run forward until you see the pencil begin to shake violently. At this point, turn around immediately and run in the other direction. This will cause the pencil to stab the ground, and not you. Do this three times and it will continue on to its next attack.

After trying to stab you (and hopefully failing), the pencil will spawn in a spider. This next part is very important: Do NOT kill the spider. Just make sure it doesn't hit you. You'll need the spider in order to move on to phase 2. After spawning the spider, the pencil will move on to its final attack.

The pencil will now begin to spin across the screen. If the tip of the pencil or the eraser hits you, you'll take damage. You can anticipate which way the pencil will come from to do its spin attack by watching it and seeing which way it goes after spawning the spider. This next part is one of the trickiest parts of the entire battle: Once you see the pencil go off screen, jump on and stun the previously spawned spider. Make sure you do not kill it. Sit by the stunned spider and wait for the spinning pencil to come into view. You have to kick the spider so that it hits the tip of the pencil. This might take a few tries; if your spider misses, that's fine, just duck under the spinning move and the pencil will loop all of its attacks and you'll get more chances. In order to improve your chances of hitting the tip of the pencil, wait until it's on screen, but don't wait until it's right up in your face and about to hit you to kick the spider. If you have successfully landed a hit on the pencil, it will fly up in the air and then land back on the ground. Run up to the pencil and hit it with your pen. This will knock the lead out of its tip, and it will fly off screen.

As soon as the pencil moves off screen, the sound of a pencil sharpener can be heard, and then the pencil will return, initiating Phase 2.

Phase 2

Phase 2 is very similar to that of Phase 1, the only difference being that the pencil is shorter in height and that it will perform its attacks faster than the ones in Phase 1 The pencil will also spawn 2 spiders instead of 1. Just repeat what you did in Phase 1 and you should be fine.

If you are getting damaged a lot during the pencil's first attack, do what you did in Phase 1, but like the pencil, speed it up. You have enough time to run forward a little, but immediately turn around afterwards as the pencil will stab you before you get the chance to if you wait too long.

Once you make it to the second attack, I recommend killing the first spider the pencil spawns. It won't help you in the long run and it just decreases the chances of you getting hit.

In the third attack, the pencil will spin much faster than it did before. Once you think it is close, even if it hasn't appeared on the screen yet, you can still kick your spider. As long as the pencil is relatively close, you'll have a decent chance of hitting it.

Once you've hit the pencil again with your spider, the pencil will do the same thing it did in Phase 1, and then it will come back and initiate Phase 3.

Phase 3

Once the pencil has come back after being hit twice, it will initiate its final phase, Phase 3. Much like Phase 2, this phase is very similar to the first phase, the only differences being that it spawns more spiders, is shorter in height, and attacks much faster.

When the pencil performs its first attack, it won't leave you much time at all. It gives you about 2 seconds to run forward and then run backward. The second it begins to shake, do what you did in phases 1 and 2 and you should be fine.

In the second attack, the pencil will spawn 3 spiders this time. Much like phases 1 and 2, you only need 1 spider, so you can kill off 2 of them. Wait for the pencil to prepare its third attack with only one spider alive.

In its third attack, the pencil will practically zoom across the arena. Ensure your spider is stunned as the pencil is moving to set itself up to spin across the screen. Once the pencil has started spinning, even if you don't spin it, it's up to you to judge when to kick the spider. If you're near the wall, wait a little bit longer than you would if you were in the middle. A lot of this battle is based on luck, and it will take a couple tries to hit the pencil. Just make sure you aren't kicking the spider when the pencil is right on top of you, and try to duck if your spider misses to dodge the attack. If you follow this guide, you should be able to survive just fine.

Once you've landed that final shot on the pencil, it will do what it did in phases 1 and 2. Run up and hit the pencil and the music will stop. It will fly in the air before spinning back to the ground, a much smaller version. In fact, this pencil looks familiar... yes! It's the one from Fancy Pants Adventures! The pencil will bounce around for a bit, before resting, eraser up, on the ground. Once you run up to it, your character will grab it and hold it up triumphantly. To my knowledge, this pencil cannot be used in the game. If you find a way to use this pencil, make sure to comment it and I'll add it to the guide and give you credit. Once you hold the pencil up for a bit, the level ends.
