Introduction
Welcome fellow pilots!

In this short guide I would like to show you how to add your own photo inside a cockpit of your plane, it can be anything, your girlfriend, wife, dog.. etc. You get my point.

So your cockpit would look like this:
Finding directory
First of all you must find folder with sample pictures:

C:\Users\your_name\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\DashPics

In this folder you will see 2 other folders; "Selected" and "Templates". In Templates you will find default pictures that you can use, but we want to make our own photo.
Sample photos
There are 3 diffrent styles of pictures you can find in that folder. Allied 1-3 and Axis 1-2 are the same.

Allied1-3:

Axis1-2:

Emina

Editing your photo
Now when you choosed what style of photo you want, we will proceed to edit it.
For that we need Gimp2, it's a free program you can download from gimp "dot" org.

Step 1. Open for example Allied1 in gimp.

Step 2. Use the tool in red circle and select that photo, then click "Del" to remove it, so it looks like this:

Step 3. Find picture you want to use and copy it, in gimp press Ctrl+V to paste your picture. You will see new layer in a layer tab. Right click on it and choose "Add to new layer". You should also click on it and move it under your base layer. Of cousre you will have to scale your image, just like before, right click on it and choose scale. So it will look like this:

Step 4. Now all you need is to remove what's left outside of your picture, just choose that pink square icon on the same tool tab you used in step 1.

Step 5. If you want you can remove name of the girl and also add ducktape that we removed in step 2. Simply click on number 1, then click on color you want copy next to girl's name, then click number 2 and paint :)

For ducktape just do step 2 but instead of removing it, copy and paste part of ducktape. Then move it a little below and it should look like this.

Then you just need to right click first layer and "Merge Down". All done! Just save your image but keep it as .tga

Remember that in gimp you don't save, you export. You can save this project but for what we need now is export option. Name it as you wish and save on your desktop.
Almost done...
Now all you need to do is put your file here
C:\Users\your_name\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\DashPics\Selected
and also inside
C:\Users\your_name\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\DashPics\Templates

That's all! Now you can start the game and fly while being distracted by pretty lady ;)
It works for all planes but you can only have one picture, if you want to change it, you just have put diffrent photo in "Selected" folder.
Last words
Thank you for reading, hope it was helpful and you will have lots of fun playing this great game. If you enjoyed it please give me thumb up, does not cost you anything and more people will see it :)

See you in the air!

I put the picture in ...:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz\DashPics\Selected and renamed it 1, deleting the existing one. Now it works!

Works like a charm.
After I figured out I had to rename my art in the Selected folder to 1.tga ;-)

Since the canvas is a little bigger than the picture, you can also angle and crease the picture
I once made my own "Chewing gum" tack-on

Ok I tried everything and it doesnt seem to work, tried other programs too and nothing. Its like it doesnt work anymore for some reason or I just didnt activate an option for the pics to show in the plane or something.
