Getting Started
Bang!Howdy is a fast paced turn based strategy game. Use your units to kill the other team and capture the objectives!
The basics
Watch your ticks!
Bang!Howdy operates on a turn by turn 4 tick meter system. Units will be able to act when they have filled up their tick meter. Try to plan your units moves ahead of time before their meter fills up!

Controls
Press 'C' to change your camera perspective, Press 'E' and 'Q' to Rotate, Press 'Tab' to select the next availible unit with no orders.
Big Shots
Big Shots are hero units that play a unique role in each game mode & team. Recruit the right Big shot to lead you to victory! Get to know the ins and outs of each hero, their special abilities can help define your playstyle.

Old Codger
High defense and his tick reseting ability makes him one of the best defensive units. At full health he can also one shot dirigibles!

Cavalry
High mobility and moderate damage makes him a very versatile Big Shot. Dominates Frontier town modes like Gold Rush.

Tactician
What he lacks in mobility he makes up in other areas. Good range, high damage, and immunity to projectiles makes the Tactician a force to be reckoned with. Artileries and loggers best beware of his bonus damage to ranged units!

Storm Caller
His lower than average Big Shot damage and high range makes him a real team player. Use your other units to weaken enemies and set up thunderous chain kills! Be careful not to zap your own units with his arcing damage!

Trickster Raven
The Trickster is ground unit who can transform into a bird, other flying units beware! His high mobility and bonus damage to flying units makes him a real terror in the skies.

Revolutionary
A very unique Big Shot he applies a passive damage buff to the rest of your team while alive. When he dies he resurrects all units that are currently waiting to respawn.
Units
Get to know your units! Each unit has strengths and weaknesses that can help with your objectives.

Frontier Town Units

  • Steam Gunmen are great for carrying gold long distances and fighting off human units!
  • Bam! Shotgunners hit hard and their splash damage hurts homesteads and units alike
  • The Sharpshooter is great against homestead's and knocking nuggets out of the enemies hands
  • The Gunslinger is one of the best units to use against human units, especially big shots!
  • Up in the sky! Dirigibles can fly over obsticles and flank your opponent
  • Fire in the hole! The Artillery packs quite a whallop, keep it out of range of air units so it can defend itself.

Indian Trading Post Units

  • Distance and flying make the Thunderbird fantastic for carting objects around the map. Be careful about taking him into combat!
  • The Dreamcatcher may seem like a sweet old lady at first but her tick reseting ability will give the enemy team nightmares!
  • The grizzled Dog Soldier is immune to being pushed or scared by other units. He likes it up close and personal where he can damage adjacent ground units each tick.
  • Watch out! From a distance the Buffalo Rider hits like a ton of bricks and pushes his targets! Just make sure you don't try to fight with him up close and personal.
Consider your cards

Cards are items that you can bring (1-3 per round) into a match or pick up while you play. They can perform tasks such as healing your units, giving them a damage buff, or dealing massive damage to the enemy team! Keep your strategy dynamic, consider the type of objectives you need to be capturing and holding.

Pace yourself!
While it might be tempting to unleash your cards on your opponent right from the get go consider the impact your moves can have. Try to save your cards for very impactful moments in game to turn the tide!

For example:

  • Missles can be used to target objectives, Use a missle to destroy an enemy totem piece right at the end of the game.
  • Save your objectives, use a misfire to protect units holding gold nuggets.
  • Heal your bigshot before it dies to ensure he can capture the Homestead, Repair cards can also heal totems and homesteads.

The ability to purchase certain cards requires the unlocking of ingame badges. See those requirements here http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1222557110

It's all about the points!
The player with the most points wins!

Damage Points - Each time a unit inflicts 10 damage to an enemy unit you will get 1 Damage point. Hitting your own unit via a misfire or a redirected attack will also subtract your points!

Bonus Points - Each bonus is worth 10 points each. Some bonuses give those points every time they are picked up (Forgiven, Repair, Card, Reinforcement). Units only get bonus points if it is their first equipable bonus (hollow point, hustle, ect.)

Objective Points - Each game mode has specific objectives to complete. Whether it be branding cattle, building totems, or saving the forrests these objectives are your best chance to score points and ensure victory. Get to know the ins and outs of each game mode and plan your team composition accordingly.
