Cash, Build, Crash
By Fenrir
First of all, im not one of the superior pros in this game, but i guess i totally understand some basic mechanics... and those i want to share, for i would've been happy to know some things early from the beginning...

CASH

Lets start with cash, because without cash u're just driving trash, right? wrong... well, kinda wrong... even with trash you can be quite succesfull... but lets talk about that later...

cash! yea, theres an ingame coin stuff... u want it, u need it, u can earn it... sorry to say it straight upfront, there is no way of easy obtaining it! (well, unless u spend real money) Selling things will get you this cash for "free", BUT! and thats something different i guess, not with selling your basic resources like scrap copper and so on! you will need that stuff! you really need every single piece of that s**t... once you're lvl 5 at a faction you can build epic pieces... therefor you need 5 rare pieces, 150 copper, 750 wires, and 250 scrap...

now lets do some math... to build one rare piece on your own, you need 450 scrap 50 copper! that makes a total of 2500 scrap, 400 copper and 750 wires.. per week you can obtain 2800 scrap trough fights/brawls (only between 10-20 per mission, brawls might be higher) and per day u can get another 200 if you finish a daily quest... you see, after all you really need that stuff bad, so all guides who tell you to sell that stuff just want to buy your scrap cheap... keep it!

every two weeks now, there are seasons where you complete missions to earn extra resources... try to solve them! "easy" should be completable without problems...

and for sure, dont sell your boxes... they go away for nearly nothing and not worth selling it, in my opinion... i obtained rarely some rare items, sure... and you cant sell them, right... but in the beginning you'll be happy to get some blue stuff, and sure you will need it... if not, scrap it! 100 scrap is fine aswell! and its worth 5 sold boxes...

of course you need some cash to get your workbench running... so sadly you have to sell some stuff to get your first 5 coins, but afterwards you should be fine... sell your first built rare item, and everythings cool...

we learned:
-keep your raw materials!
-get to lvl 5 from a faction!
-try to build epics!
-use your boxes!
-try to do seasons
BUILD

building is always a difficult topic... its not just about style, its about your desired gameplay and efficiency... lets start with weapons... i'll keep that short, because i dont want to prevent you from experimenting and having fun trying different things... just let me tell you:

shotguns, closecombat! i always see some guy trying to shoot the whole map... wont work...
machinegun, close to medium range, fast fire, huge spread, fast turn, hard to hit on some distance...
cannons, heavy, turn very slow (if even possible), huge impact, requires some practice...
autocannons, more damage than machinegun, slower firerate, higher range, slow turn...

of course there are much more weapons, like granades, rockets, bla bla bla... try them out yourself... in the "gallery" are a lot of cars designed by players... you can try them out to find your weapon of choice...

now to the building-thing i really recommend to follow carefully! fit your weapons on your cabin, or well protected, or use more than one structure-part to carry it, even if its just some wire or something like that... why? because if you loose this structure, you'll loose that weapon aswell! and belive me, that sucks! as an example, your cabin might have 300hp, one plate of, dunno, basic-something-wall, 20... what will fall of first?

for sure, you will say something like: but the bigger piece has more hp than a small one...
you're damn right! but at some point every structure-part is nearly a oneshot and for sure its a bigger target... so more structure-parts keep you a little saver i'd think... also its harder to snipe through a small hole in your armor while driving, right? so your guts are not that exposed after loosing some armor... hope u get my point...

also take a look at the weapons-hp... cannons got pretty nice hp, compared to a machinegun... use that to your advantage! maybe to keep your cabin save from frontal attacks?

we learned:
-connect your structure-things more than once if possible! (really! that helps a lot!)
-connect your weapon with your cabin/more structure-parts/parts where projectiles can pass
-try different cars from the gallery to find your playstyle or try new things
CRASH

now the fun part! let's crash 'em!!!

of course it totally depends on your playstile how you frag 'em, slash 'em, or blow them up...
i'd recommend speed and maneuverability over heavy dmg in the begining... so you guys can check out every single maps pros and cons...

stay with your group, everybody says that, and really, do it! keep yourself a bit in the back if you're already damaged, or some sort of glass-canon, but be always ready to rush in and help a buddy out of trouble... sometimes it is very usefull if you can play the target for the slower guys to show up and shred your enemies to pieces... again, speed and maneuverability here :D...

dont underastimate confusion of people who dont know who they want to shoot first, or the other extreme, people who try to get that one kill while you rush in an teach them a lesson! also! try to shoot their weapons! and if there are two enemys and u already got one unarmed, dont go for the kill, go for the other guy! he is still a threat to you, right? if things really get ugly and you know you cant survive, selfdestruction is your way of success! hold backspace and stick to the enemy like a fly on poo... yea, you blow up, but so does your enemy... what a fancy surprise!

another thing i noticed, if you rush into a group, the way to last longest is actually to attack them... "whaaat?" you say? easy, bro... easy... let me explain... if you turn or even stop, driving backwards or something like that, you are a pretty slow and exposed target... you would agree, i think... well, but what if you rush in? you get closer, one of them can totally easy target you, yep, you are right... but what about the others? most of them are soooo horny for the kill, that they will block each other... not just their cars, but even their line of fire... yep... so you are using your own enemy as a shield against the weapons of others... pretty nasty, and one bold move, no? but let me stop you right here, and let me tell you, most of the time you will pay the price, but what you have done is pretty great: you survived 5 - 10 seconds longer, dealt more damage, and hopefully your friends showed up in time... while your enemies are still trying to get back in line, they are exposed (or maybe even heavily damaged through your selfdestruction?) what a great sacrifice! most left unappreciated though, but in your heart you know, you are a true hero and watch your mates shreding them to pieces *-*...

now lets get back to the "trash-car" thing! you're matched with other players not because of your lvl, but because of your ps (powerscore) so, lets say, you drive a really trashy car, but got one really nice epic weapon, you might have a ps around 3000... if some other dude builds his car with huge amount of structure parts and about 5 common machineguns he got the same...
but dude, if you just know half of what you're doing, you'll make him cry...

as you can see, everything has a powerscore... structure-parts, guns, add-ons, and custom-thingies aswell... weapons usually more than other things... even epic supportive tools got less than a rare weapon... so dont be shy! use them! they are all very handy! especially if their effect stacks!

and pls realise that: win > survive > kill (means your first goal of all is to win! die for it! its fine! if the choice is survive or take a kill, survive! sometimes the kill is more important, because the enemy is a hover-bling-bling-overpowerd-bi*ch, but to stay alive is a valuable goal i'd say... again, hit hard and run... sometimes if you stay too long to get a kill, its you who gets toasted aswell, or worse, just you...)

really! never give up! even if you lost your weapons, lost armor, are burning already... you got just 2 wheels left? no problem! still one more than you need to succeed! often the game is won, because of one nearly crushed car capturing the enemy base... or you play the helpless target (well, you dont need to play... you ARE a helpless traget without weapons :P) to get your team an extra kill...

what we learned:
-stick with your team
-be aware of your enemys situation and condition
-use your enemies as a shield agains others (even turrets...)
-dont always go blind for the kill, always keep track of the situation
-if you're fast, try to lure them into your group/distract them/guerilla-style hit and run
-your powerscore is the key to your matched enemies
-win > survive > kill
-never give up!
-really, stick with your team!!! at least in the beginning of your crossout

PERSONAL SUGGESTIONS

some personal things i'd like to share with you guys...

there are a lot of, well, lets say unfriendly people out there... (or let's simply call them a-holes...) they swear, they ram you, push you arround, dont care if you need help, try to get a kill and push you in the line of fire to use you as some sort of shield or distraction...

dont take it personal... i met a lot of s**theads so far, but there was always an acceptable way to show them respect... a funny line you write, re-block him, pushing him from a cliff, and so on... :P... naaa... dont be a d**khead... i love the thought of having a friendly community... even thoug it seems to be a long way to that goal, i'll do my best to reach it...

do the same! try to help if you can (still dont lose track of situation though!), honk at the start of the game to greet everbody... and if you die, it might be bad luck and not an other car, or even it was because of some stupid driving, everybody makes mistakes... even you, and even me... relax, take a breath, its just a game :)...

and for gods sake! use space! yes! you got breaks! use them! if you crash in your mate, stop that damn car, for both of you can drive faster... you're in a team, mate... some sh*theads wont even stop after your car is draged through the whole map (in slow-motion though)... whats the point of that? wanna show of balls? if so, you really need to grow some, because usually people with balls dont feel the need to show them...

and if you're one s**thead that always yells at people and complain about loosing every game, rethink-- if you loose every game, maybe its because of you? just a suggestion :)...

hope i could help you guys or brought up some new ideas... if so, feel free to like, if not i totally apologise for wasting 10 minutes (or 15, depending on your readingskills) of your life... but be so kind and keep in mind it took me ages to get my, lets call it knowledge, and at least one hour to do this guide... well, it might not be THE guide, but that are my experiances so far, and i guess i became kinda badass... at least i pretend to! so half the war is won, right? damn right! :P...

if you have your own suggestions/storys to tell, pls share! i totally appreciate opinions and a nice chat about experiances and funny situations... and if you want me to do more guide-stuff, just let me know... i'll gladly share every single, dirty secret i know... :P...

until then, drive fast, hit hard, and dont forget to kiss the frog! :D

so long,
Froghog

I also gave an award for the guide and I'm already thinking of different ways to tweak out the starter car and trying to plan for a new vehicle build I'm thinking like a mad max buggy but slightly bigger, and maybe some deco pieces.
