Method, hints and used symbols
This guide has maps for the first version of the game. This version can be run by opening the local files of the game and running the file Lab_OG.exe.

This guide was built using Mipui (https://www.mipui.net/). Mipui has enough options and symbols to be able to draw an undertandable map for all structures present in the labyrinths of Labyrinthian. This game has some large labyrinths and special structures ( oriented walls, several floors, holes to other floors) which are almost impossible to navigate thorugh without some kind of orientation help. There are actually only two levels that are hard enough to require such an effort. From my numbering of the levels (I started counting from 1 and 1 is the simple straight line level), they are level 4 and level 6 (took me about 5 hours to completely map level 6). I suggest that you try to build your own maps for these levels before using this guide, since using the guide may take all the fun out of the game.

Hints to build a map:
  • All labyrinths are cartesian - meaning they respect expected euclidean distances - and follow a rectangular grid.
  • It takes one loop of step sounds (two steps) to walk one maze square unit. Since maps are cartesian, having well measured distances is sufficient to have path cycles that end in the expected place (i.e. the grid matches).
  • There is one level with multiple floors (level 6). I suggest creating a new map for each floor and using the starting position as a coordinate reference, so that you can understand what parts of each floor are over or under other parts of other floors.
  • Ramps on level 6 take three square units of distance. One unit in each floor and one unit of distance in between both floors. I suggest using only one square of ramps in each floor so that they do not overlap with other parts of the maze.
  • Holes on level 6 can take you one or two floors below current floor.

Hint about the path in a specific level: on level 6, the exit is probably going to be one of the last places you will visit, because you have to fall in a specific hole to get to it

Following is a list of used symbols (legend of the maps of this guide):
