Half-Life 2: Lost Coast tips & tricks

This is a short but imformative guide about some useful gimmics within Half-Life 2: Lost Coast.

Skipping the intro scene & vaulting the fence

First you'll need to grab the supply crate from the water with the gravity gun.



You can stack this onto the other supply crate next to the fence and hop over with ease. This about 30 seconds.



Here we can see that I'm comfortably over.

Preventing the wooden staircase from being destroyed

Once you've reached this point a combine elite will shoot an energy orb at the staircase usually destroying it. However if you act fast you can prevent this from happening. Once you reach the staircase after eliminating all of the combine, wait just before the first landing, then quickly sprint up the staircase and grab the orb with the gravity gun. You can kill the elite with his own orb also.

Skipping the church section

It is possible to negate the whole church section by grabbing a chair from within the church and bringing it to the gate (below) if you manage to stack it against the wall you can easily hop onto and over the fence. If you're falling short you can shoot the chair with the gravity gun when standing on it to give yourself a small boost, enough to mantle the gate.

Skipping the hunter chopper battle

To skip the hunter chopper battle simply position yourself at the edge of these planks



Perform a strafe jump to the set of metal beams that I'm aiming at. If done correctly you should be in this position



Then just hop into the basket/lift and you can jump out again after a few seconds into the water to cancel out any falling damage.

There's a quicker way to do the first part of the game that doesnt involve any crate stacking. just skip the crates and hop on the rocks, then jump onto the pathway. I used the technique i just explained in my 5:15 speedrun of Lost Coast, glitchless. i also count rocket jumping/boosting a glitch, so yeah

also u can turn on commentary, go to the hunter chopper battle, turn on the commentary and the hunter chopper will freeze until the commentary is done
