How to incorporate dances into your strategy

Leap Frogging

Arguably the easiest of all the tricks in Stronghold 2 is the leap frog.

Imagine a scenario where you want to have 2 stockpiles quite a ways away from one another. How do you do it?

It's quite simple

• Place 3 stockpiles
  
• Delete the middle stockpile
  
• Then place another stockpile closer to where you want it from the third stockpile
  
• Delete the third stockpile
  
• Put another stockpile closer to where you want it within range of your current one
  
• Rinse and repeat until the stockpile is where you want it

Dances

Dances are an extremely powerful component in a pro's strategy. It provides you will large amounts of honour with fairly little effort except for the initial entrapment of the Lady.

It happens more frequently and provides more honour than the Feast. It costs quite a lot less if you're purchasing all of the cloth rather than the Feast food.

How does it work?

• The Kitchen Boys deliver cloth to the Bedchamber
  
• The Lady process cloth into dresses
  
• Once 4 cloth have been processed into dresses, the Lady will walk to the Keep and hold a dance
  
• Once she finishes her dance, it will grant you 200 Honour

How do we do it?

The technique is pretty simple... if you're used to it.
The following screenshots will be used to show how it works.

To begin with, you require a kitchen, with it being populated by workers.
Then once everyone is present, put down a bedchamber, somewhere out of the way and in the open.



After you place your first bedchamber, your lady will begin to walk to that location. You then delete that bed chamber and place a new bedchamber where you want it to be for the rest of the game. (preferably between your first stockpile and your castle) You need to block your lady in with wooden walls before she makes it to your second bedchamber that you placed.



Now you just have to spend some time waiting as the boys get cloth and deliver it to the bedchamber. Before releasing the lady, make sure you have AT LEAST 2 cloth in the bedchamber before releasing her, 3 to be sure.



Now we play the waiting game, as she makes dresses we should be focusing on other things, once she has 4 dresses she will go to the keep and have a dance.







Wooh! 200 Honour!

Now you don't need to do any more managing, she will continue to hold dances for eternity so long as there is cloth in your stockpile and you do not hold a feast... Ok she will take a bath but that's ok.

Remember to use your market to purchase more cloth as needed, make sure you never have 0 cloth in the stockpile.

Advanced Dances

These types of dances are not for the lazy like yours truly. I know the trick well though so I will tell you how to do it yourself.

This trick will require more micromanagement however, so beware!

This trick will incorporate the feast into our dances.
If a dance is occuring while there is already a feast being held, it will end immediately!

Then there's always the honour from the feast to look forward to as well.

So keep in mind everything you've read up until now, you'll need it.
The only difference to the strategy I've said above, is you want to create a gate between the bedchamber and the keep.



This will allow you to lock the lady out of feasts. If the lady is at the feast, that's time lost she should be making dresses and preparing for a dance.

So, buy 10 of each feast food type and start a feast, then close the door!



The lady will walk out to go to feast but we will lock her out, as she comes out make sure the door is closed. Then once she goes back to the bedchamber, open the gate once again! Do NOT close the gate on her when she is about to hold a dance however!

When she is done making her dresses, she will walk to the keep again and hold the dance, ending immediately giving you 200 honour!



The feast will eventually end and give you 150 extra honour.

So why would you not do this if it gives you so much more honour? It's effort.

To keep doing this consistently through the game you need to check when you're having a feast, buy the feast food, make sure the lady doesn't go into the keep when you start the feast, open the gate again every time.

Personally I only do this once in a game, but many others do it consistently until peace time is over.

@Tralen I'm not sure how this is cheating since this has been known and frequently used by a large portion of the community. Leap frogging was learned about in 2005 and dances in 2006, dances + feast was used around 2008.

It might be considered cheating if you've not played a game against anyone decent on this game.

As for Firefly never fixing it, they have known about leap frogging and constant dances with close to no interruptions since 2006, a member or two of their team at the time went on 4H forum and would have seen these tricks in the tip section at the time, maybe not about the insta-dance trick with feasts though as that is more recent.
