Taboo:

GAME OBJECTIVE:
Get your team to say the word on your card without using the prohibited words underneath!
Score the most points by guessing the most words.

STARTUP:
Divide yourself into two teams.

TAKING TURNS:
1. Team A chooses one of their players to be their first clue-giver. The rest of the team CANNOT see the card and will blindfold themselves by pressing b on the keyboard.

2. Team B can choose a player to watch the time to tell Team A when to stop giving clues as well as to ensure that Team A are not using any of the prohibited words on the card.

3. After Team A's clue-giver has gone, a member of Team B is chosen to give the clue next. Repeat steps 1-2 with the opposing team.

4. Teams take turns appointing clue-givers and guessing words until all players have had one turn as clue-giver. (if one team has fewer players than the other, one player from that team is the clue-giver twice)

PLAYING THE GAME:
1. The Cluegiver flips over a card. The word at the top of the card is the word the clue-giver is trying to get their team to say. The 5 words below the guess word are the words the clue-giver CANNOT say when giving clues.

2. As soon as the card is flipped over Team B can begin the timer (60 seconds) for Team A.

3. As the clue-giver gives clues, his or her teammates shout out possible words trying to say the guess word. There is no penalty for wrong guesses.
4. If the guess word is guessed, the clue-giver may flip over another card and repeat the process until the time has ended.

5. If the clue-giver says a forbidden word the other team is awarded the card and the clue-giver may pick up another card and provide clues for the time that remains.

6. If you would like to pass on a card, put it to the side and flip another card over. The opposing team will be awarded the card/point.

7. Once time is up count the cards your team has guessed and keep track of your points using the counter. Cards can then be placed on the discard pile INCLUDING the last card of the round that was not guessed. The opposing team can record their points if they earned any from that round.

TRACKING POINTS:
1. Each time a teammate shouts out the correct guess word, the clue-givers team scores one point. The number of correctly guessed cards is the number of points the clue-giver earns for his or her team.

2. Clue-givers can lose points in two ways: by saying a forbidden word (one of the five) and by passing on a card. All lost points are awarded to the opposing team

RULES FOR CLUES GIVEN:
1. No form of ANY word printed on the card may be given as a clue. For example, if the word is PAYMENT, PAY cannot be given as a clue. If the word is SPACESHIP, you cannot use SPACE or SHIP.

2. No sound effects or noises may be made, such as explosions or engine noises. You can sing if you would like.

3. You cannot say the guess word "sounds like" or "rhymes with" another word.

4. No initials or abbreviations can be given if the words they represent are included on the card. Example: MD cannot be used if MEDICAL or DOCTOR is the guess word. TV cannot be used if TELEVISION is the guess word.

WINNING THE GAME:
When all players have had one turn as clue-giver (or both team have had the same number of turns as clue-giver), whichever team has most points on the counter is the team who has won the game.

In the case of a tie, each team chooses their best clue-giver and takes one more turn to determine the winner.
