Introduction
This walkthrough is a work in progress. Thank you for understanding!

Welcome to Super Indie Karts, a game where indie characters from various indie games go head-to-head in a white-hot World Grand Prix!

Before we get any further, let's see what the Main Menu has to offer:

Controls: Due to a recent update, Super Indie Karts now uses Rewire for the overall controls. However, I will keep the original control schemes up if you happen to play an earlier build.

Settings:

Video:
  • Resolution: Change the game's screen size in Windowed mode as well as the aspect ratio.
  • Fullscreen/Windowed: Self-explanatory. You can also toggle this by holding the left or right Alt key and pressing Enter.
  • TV filter: Adds a TV border as if you were playing on an actual TV. You can also toggle this option by pressing "F" on your keyboard.
  • 3D walls: Changes the walls around the Super and Beta tracks into 3D blocks. Otherwise, they will be flat.
  • Vsync: Synchronizes the game's frame rate with the monitor's refresh rate.
  • Max FPS: Changes the highest FPS the game can go. (30, 60, 100, 120, 144, 180)

Audio:
Change the game's master volume, music, sound effects, and voice volumes.

MAIN GAME:

Game modes:
Grand Prix/Splitscreen GP:
A well-known mode in multiple kart racers, Grand Prix puts you and three other friends/rivals in a race with AI racers for first place. As you race, you are given three retries to get all three Race Stars for a track. If you use them all, you will have to start the entire GP over.

There are 4 engine classes you can choose from:

SUPER CUPS:
  • 50cc (Casual Drive): All karts drive slowly for beginning players. There are three laps per race, and the AI is easy. 10 Race Jewels and one Golden Mushroom are required for a Race Star.
  • 100cc (Speed Racer): All karts drive a little faster than 50cc. There are four laps per race, and the AI is a little difficult. There are four laps per race, and you must get two Golden Mushrooms and 15 Race Jewels to get the respective Race Stars.
  • 150cc (Power Drive): All karts drive fast. There are five laps per race, and the AI is challenging. 20 Race Jewels and two Golden Mushrooms are required for their Race Stars.
  • 200cc (Rush Hour): All karts drive very fast. There are five laps per race, and the AI will go all out to stop you from winning. 25 Race Jewels and three Golden Mushrooms are required for a Race Star.

ULTRA CUPS

NOTE: All of the engine classes will always be 3 laps.
  • 50cc: 1 Golden Mushroom and 10 Race Jewels are required for a Race Star
  • 100cc: 2 Golden Mushroom and 15 Race Jewels are required for a Race Star.
  • 150cc: 3 Golden Mushrooms and 20 Race Jewels are required for a Race Star.
  • 200cc: 3 Golden Mushrooms and 25 Race Jewels are required for a Race Star.

When you finish a track, you will receive points depending on what position you come in.
  • 1st: 12 points.
  • 2nd: 10 points.
  • 3rd: 8 points.
  • 4th: 6 points.
  • 5th: 4 points.
  • 6th: 3 points.
  • 7th: 2 points.
  • 8th: 1 point.

Ranks:
A***: Got all Race Stars.
A**: Got 10 or 11 Race Stars.
A*: Got 9 Race Stars.
A: Got 8 Race Stars.
B: Got 7 Race Stars.
C: Got 5 or 6 Race Stars.
D: Got 4 Race Stars.
E: Got 2 or 3 Race Stars.
F: Got no or 1 Race Stars.

In Splitscreen GP, Race Stars are disabled, and the player who has the most points at the end of the GP wins.

Time Trials:
Another staple of kart-racers, Time Trial allows you to get the best time on any track you choose.

Single Race:
Similar to Time Trials, Single Race lets you race on the track of your choice. It also teaches you how the Race Star mechanic works in-game so you can get ahold of it, as well as learning how the track is laid out.

In multiplayer Single Race, Race Stars are disabled, and the player who has the highest rank out of those that are competing wins the round.

Items
(I'd like to take this moment to thank One Legged Seagull for providing me with the pictures of the in-game items)

Throughout the game, you will encounter Item Jars. As of version 0.75, you'll get an item depending on what place you're in.

  • Meloon: A watermelon with a face. It bounces around the track like Mario Kart's Green Shell and will break after it either bounces eight times or if they hadn't touched anything in 32 seconds (16 in Battle Mode). It also comes in a triple variant.

  • Loconut: A coconut with a rocket that homes in on other opponents. It will break if it hits a wall or fails to hit an opponent.

  • Pangapple: A pineapple sporting sunglasses that acts like a bomb. It will blow up players that get too close to it. However, it will blow up on its own if left alone for a few seconds.

  • Gelato: An ice cream cone that leaves a huge splat on the track. Players that run over it will be spun out.

  • Pepper: Chili peppers that provide the kart with a huge boost. Although this comes in double and triple variants, all of the peppers will be used, but your kart will go faster depending on the variant.

  • Pumpking: A giant, mischievous-looking pumpkin that, when thrown, produces a shockwave. Racers near the pumpkin or in the radius will spin out. After bouncing, the pumpkin lingers on the track to attack unsuspecting drivers.

  • Mutant Tomms: A bunch of evil-looking tomatoes that bounce across the track and disappear when they hit another racer or a wall. When activated, you can lob as many of these as you want for four seconds.

  • Beeta Blocka: A large beetroot that takes up a portion of the road and floats in place to catch out the other racers.

  • Race Crystal: Small collectibles scattered around the tracks. You must pick up a certain number of these depending on the engine class to get a Race Star and a slight boost.

  • Gold Shroom: Mushroom-shaped items that are found in various locations on the track. Up to three of these, depending on the class, can be collected. Gathering all of them will make you invincible and faster for a short while. They also allow you to crash into any obstacle that instantly destroys it for the rest of the race.

  • Boost Pad: Panels found on courses that provide racers who pass over them with a Double Pepper boost.

  • Gold Boost Pad: They function like Boost Pads, but they provide racers with Triple Pepper boosts, and are rarer than regular Boost Pads.
Cups and Tracks (Ultra Cups - Emerald Cup)
Introduced on July 20, 2018, Ultra Cups are 3D tracks that are much more dynamic than the tracks featured in the Super and Extra Cups.

Emerald Cup:

Tracks:

Game of origin: Super Indie Karts

Welcome to the very first Ultra track of the game! Here, you drive straight into a tunnel, then drive your way through a huge turn where there are trucks advertising the many indie games and characters in Super Indie Karts, and marvel at the architecture. (There's even the game logo spelled out in giant letters!)

Golden Mushroom locations:
  • Big: Just after the race starts, look to the left of a stack of tires (Which may be knocked over if you're playing with AI drivers) and there sits the mushroom.

  • Medium: When you're halfway through the tunnel, hang right and the Golden Mushroom will be seen next to two shrubs.

  • Small: On your way back to the start, look for a stack of yellow tires on the sand. You'll find the Golden Mushroom underneath.

Game of origin: Teslagrad

This second Ultra track has players driving up spiral roads in both the front and back sections. While the track layout may appear simple, there are plenty of obstacles you should avoid, such as spikes, floating tesla orbs that shoot electricity, and tesla coils that can either push or pull you against the wall. Not only will they slow you down, they will shoot you into a spike on the wall, so stay on your toes!

Golden Mushroom locations:
  • Big: In the first tower after the race starts, hang to the right wall and you'll see it.

  • Medium: After the moebius strip-styled bridge, the Mushroom is in the middle of the road after the first red tesla coil.

  • Small: It's in the second blue tesla coil at the top of the second spiral road, but make sure you hang to the left because you will be pulled towards some spikes.

Game of origin: Canabalt

Welcome back to Canabalt's world! Here, after you go up the long spiral road, you and your opponents will be duking it out on the rooftops as you make your way across. When you get back to the start, you'll break through a window as if you were trying to make a daring escape.

Golden Mushroom locations:
  • Big: On the bridge leading to the seventh building, the Mushroom can be seen next to a stack of boxes.

  • Medium: On the second spiral road, the Mushroom can be found in front of three Golden Speed Panels.

  • Small: When you reach the fork in the road on the second rooftop, turn right and you'll see the Mushroom at the top of the ramp.

Game of origin: Runbow

Runbow Road is back, and more dynamic than ever!

In case you forgot: The sky changes color every six seconds, and any platforms that match the background color disappear.

You start by going up a long, curvy road then shooting down through a series of platforms that are in a pool of magma, then you drive up another colorful road and go back to the start.

Golden Mushroom locations:
  • Big: When you're about to drive on the long road after the magma section, look in front of the blue platform to find the Mushroom.

  • Medium: Just after the race begins, look to the right. It's next to the wall.

  • Small: In the magma section, stay on the far right orange platform in the first ramp jump to get the Mushroom.
Cups and Tracks (Ultra Cups - Ruby Cup)
Ruby Cup:

Tracks:

Game of origin: ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove!

Welcome to the jammin' roads of outer Funkotron! This funky road features obstacles from the original ToeJam & Earl, such as guys with lawnmowers, devils and more! One other cool feature on this track is the upside-down section of the track! Be careful not to get too dizzy when you go up those steep slopes!

One notable gimmick for this track is the signs that take up the fork in the road. On the first lap, you take the high road, on the second, you go low, but on the final lap, both roads are accessible. In the upside-down part of the track, there are two ramps that take turns raising and lowering during each interval. Make sure you aren't on the sinking ramp, or your jump will fail.

Golden Mushroom locations:
  • Big: When you take the high road on lap 1, the Golden Mushroom can be seen in the middle of the jump ramp.

  • Medium: When you take the low road on lap 2, hang to the left wall and you'll pick up the Golden Mushroom that's on a patch of grass. If you're impatient, you can jump down from the high road to get this on the first lap.

  • Small: Just after the corkscrew loop leading to the upper part of the track, the Golden Mushroom is on the right of the first pair of interchanging ramps.

Game of Origin: Mutant Mudds

In the Grannie series of levels from this game, you first race through a small forest, then you round your way around a giant rising and sinking mud pit that swallows careless drivers, then through a cave with giant maces, and finally you make your way through a sky bend where the clouds will try to blow you off the track, and dive head first back to the start.

One notable graphical change for this track is the Gold Diamonds. However, they function just like Race Crystals.

Golden Mushroom locations:
  • Big: Near the mud pit just as you make your way around the bend.

  • Medium: After the race starts, look to the right of the road near the second turn and you'll find it on the offroad.

  • Small: On a circular patch of grass just after the sky bend.

Game of Origin: 2064: Read Only Memories

What's this? Market Street is now a city?! Well then...

Despite the level taking place in a large city, most of the race takes place on a high road that has many bends leading back to the bustling streets of the city. Watch out though, the turns come one after the other, so now would be a good time to go and practice your drifting skills.

Golden Mushroom locations:
  • Big: Just as you drive straight down the street, the Golden Mushroom can be seen on the left sidewalk at the bend.

  • Medium: When you arrive at the jump ramp leading to the other side of the highway, stay in the middle of the road to get it.

  • Small: When you leave the highway, the Golden Mushroom is on the right sidewalk. It might be a little hard to get.

Game of Origin: Burrito Bison: Launcha Libre

Welcome to Candyland, a peaceful place in Burrito Bison. As sweet as the name may sound, the only obstacles here are Gummy Bears riding UFOs equipped with extendable boxing gloves that punch racers from above. When you're in the arena, you have to make a complete circle around the ring, then bust your way out and back to the start.

Golden Mushroom locations:
  • Big: After the first wave of Gummy Bears, this Golden Mushroom can be found in the middle of the road on top of a blue splat.

  • Medium: Before you enter the ring (literally), the Golden Mushroom is in front of the Boost Panel next to the right wall.

  • Small: Just after the second U-turn, there is a small house infrastructure. The Golden Mushroom is in the middle of the doorway.
Cups and Tracks (Ultra Cups - Sapphire Cup)
Released alongside the Mission Mania update on January 27th, 2022, the Sapphire Cup is (currently) the newest set of tracks in the Ultra Cup. While the cup was initially released in an unfinished state, the cup became fully available on December 24, 2024.

Sapphire Cup tracks:

Game of origin: Super Indie Karts

Let's hit the beach with various indie characters!

For the track layout, you start on the boardwalk leading to the small town area where you drive past two gummy bears from Candyland Arena. After making a left, you drive straight down a long path then make a long winding left turn. After jumping over two ramps, you'll come across a mural containing almost every playable character in Super Indie Karts, then you drive down a small dirt road between four 18-wheelers. Lastly, you'll dive deep into the water then drive up a curling bridge leading back to the boardwalk.

Big: Stay on the street in front of the mural to find this between two white lines.

Medium: Near the curved bridge turning to the left, look on the grass in front of two Boost Pads. The Golden Shroom is situated next to a tall tree.

Small: Instead of driving on the bridge at the beach, go underwater to find a stack of yellow tires between two bridge poles and Boost Pads. The Golden Shroom is underneath the tires.

---

Game of origin: Mission in Snowdriftland

Brave the frigid regions of Snowdriftland!

As for the track layout, you'll drive on a trail left behind by a snowmobile into a frozen cave. Once you exit, you'll make your way up a log bridge then dive straight down into a volcano, where you must stay on the walls and avoid the lava, as touching it will spin you out. Finally, you'll then hop across several icicles suspended in mid-air on your way back to the start. Don't worry, they won't fall!

Golden Shroom locations:

Big: Just after entering the ice cave, stay on the left side to find this Golden Shroom in front of a Speed Panel.

Medium: When you reach this part of the bridge with the item boxes, look to your right, but be careful not to fall off.

Small: On the way back to the start, jump to the right most icicle to find this in front of two Speed Panels. You may want to watch your speed when getting this one so you don't fly over it.

---

Game of origin: Clive 'N' Wrench

You start in Clive's bedroom where you are inside part of a teleporter leading from the space portion. You jump onto a plastic orange track leading up a wall, then diving downward onto a ramp leading to a slot-car track. Past this portion, you'll go into a long tube alternating between red and blue with pencils poking in to cut you off. After leaving the tube, you will come to a teleporter that leads to The Space Between Time with areas based on various levels from Clive 'N' Wrench. At the end of this section is a teleporter leading back to Clive's Bedroom.

Golden Shroom locations:

Big: In between two Boost Pads on the red mat next to the slot-car road.

Medium: On a Boost Pad in the tube, just below two pencils with the tips touching each other.

Small: In front of one of the pyramids in The Space Between Time.

---

Game of origin: Nitromeland

As explained in the name, the track takes place at a large theme park, with various attractions that you must drive through.

You start by going to the "FeedMe" attraction, where you head inside and find a conveyor belt that automatically propels you toward a Venus flytrap. Just past this, you'll enter the "Test Subject" attraction, where you drive straight. Overtime, several lasers will activate and you must avoid them.

The third attraction you'll enter is "Endless Doves", a large S-shaped turn with a Game Boy-styled feel to it, as noted by the aesthetics referencing the system's screen. Past this is the King Casino pinball table from Super Leap Day, where you must avoid both the pinballs and bumpers as you make your way to the top. Outside the table, you'll bounce across several bumpers and land on the turns leading into the dome-shaped building, where inside you'll find artwork of various characters from Nitromeland.

In the "Motor!" attraction, you'll find two large swinging blades from HotAir, and spinning bumpers that damage you when you touch them. At the end of this attraction is a large Skywire gondola that will carry you to the "Icebreaker" tunnel, where you first go up an ice path avoiding large blocks of ice, then slide down an icy chute. Last, you'll end up at the Rubble Trouble demolition site (where, if you're fast enough, you can see a building get demolished) and the rail lines from Off the Rails. There are large vases that you can bump into to destroy them.

Golden Shroom locations:

Big: In the Icebreaker attraction, stay in the middle of the ice chute to find the Golden Shroom at the end of it.

Medium: In the art gallery, stay near the velvet rope on the right side of the wall to find this.

Small: Just past the King's Casino pinball table, you will bounce across a series of bumpers. The Golden Shroom is found on the bumper at a slight angle than the others. It may take some practice to get this one.
Cups and Tracks (Advanced Cups - Knight Cup)
First appearing on July 19, 2019, the Advanced Cups are a series of tracks that use the same scenery style as the Ultra Cups, but they're just like the Super Cups.

Knight Cup Tracks:

Game of origin: Super Indie Karts

Welcome to the very first Advanced track! At first glance, the track looks like it takes place in an indoor water park, but that's because it does! If you look on the wall, there are murals of past and current Super Indie Kart racers. The only hazards here are tire stacks and the water, the latter which can slow you down greatly.

Golden Mushroom locations:
  • Big: In route back to the start, look between two Boost Pads in the middle of the road. It can easily be spotted.

  • Medium: Ahead of the small Golden Mushroom, look to the right of the red girder and you'll see it between said girder and a wall.

  • Small: Just after the starting line, look to the left of the track to find a circle of flowers with a shrub in the middle. The mushroom is in there. As of the Sapphire Cup update, a sticker has been added to this area to make it a bit easier to find.

----

Game of origin: Knightmare Tower

Welcome to the second track inspired by the game Knightmare Tower! It's called... well... you know. Either way, the track plays like Bowser Castle 1 from Mario Kart: Super Circuit. If you know that course like the back of your hand, you'll have it easy here. However, do take note that the oil puddles seen on the side of the road slow you down, so be careful here!

Also, on the top left corner of the track, lava oozes through the grated fence, so be careful as you make your way through here.

Golden Mushroom locations:
  • Big: On the oil slick after the first few turns.

  • Medium: Just after the big Golden Mushroom, next to the orange bat-like creature flying in and out of the lava.

  • Small: At the first of the series of jumps, it's on the right side. However, beware of the green ogres that pop in and out of the lava.

----

Game of origin: Duck Game

No, this isn't Daytona!

With that out of the way, you start in a football-field like area then drive your way through a tunnel. At the end, you come through a small dirt pass leading up to a giant ramp where you jump over an abyss, then land back in the football field to complete the lap.

Golden Mushroom Locations:
  • Big: Just after leaving the tunnel, you can find this Mushroom in the middle of the road.

  • Medium: Look in the clump of leaves to the left of the swerving road.

  • Small: Look in the clump of leaves to the right of the swerving road.

----

Game of origin: Teslagrad

It's the third track based on Teslagrad. This time, it takes place in an aviary.

Unlike most tracks, this course features branching paths, but only at the beginning of the track. Also, what isn't a Teslagrad track without the coils? However, they've been placed over pits that can either push you down or pull you up.

You start in a woodland-like area with two electrical enemies moving left and right to zap unlucky racers. Second, you end up at the fork in the road. The left path features conveyor belts that slow you down, and the right path consists of 90-degree turns. After that, you'll end up at a series of platforms that lead back to the treetops. Drive straight down the path and the lap is complete.

Golden Mushroom Locations:
  • Big: When you're on the last platform at the series of jumps, you'll find this between the two ramps.

  • Medium: When you come to the fork in the road, go down the left path and you'll find this between two jump ramps.

  • Small: When you reach the fork in the road, head right to find this between two ramps. It may be hard to see depending on how fast you're going.
Cups and Tracks (Super Cups - Square Cup)
SUPER CUPS:
Square Cup:

Tracks:

Game of origin: Toto Temple Deluxe!

Welcome to the first track of the game, Toto Temple Run. As the name implies, it takes place at a temple where first-time players are greeted with 90-degree turns.

When the race begins, you will encounter three walls popping up from left to right. Start by driving straight and then turning left. Jump over the border and then turn left and then right past three more pop-up walls. At the second set of boost pads, go straight, and then turn left to jump over another border. Finally, drive straight back to the starting line and the lap is complete.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • In front of a green jump sign next to the first border jump. (Small)

  • Near the corner next to the double boost pads. (Medium)

  • A little to the right next to the second border jump. (Big)

Game of origin: Whispering WIllows

If you're still new to the game, Whispering Garden is another perfect place to practice your drifting. The track is set in a garden where there are fluctuating ghosts that are bound to throw racers off if they're not careful.

One thing to note is that the track consists predominantly of left turns, but just because this is true doesn't mean you can ignore steering right.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Near a corner on the third left after the starting line. (Small)

  • Near the corner before the second jump. (Medium)

  • Next to the boosters leading to the other side of the track. (Big)

Game of origin: Canabalt

One thing to note is that this is the first track to introduce gaps where players can fall into the pit. Also, the track has 90-degree turns, much like Whispering Garden.

You start in a straight. Turn left and jump over. Drift left, then turn right to jump over two walls. On the first fence, drift left, ride the jump panel, then drift left and go down the straight path. Drift to the left and the lap is complete.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • In front of a boost panel on the third fence. (Small)

  • Near a stack of tires on the second fence. (Medium)

  • Near the wall on the left after the starting line. (Big)

Game of origin: Fist of Awesome

Welcome to the last track of the Square Cup. This track really puts your beginner skills to the test as you navigate through 90-degree turns and avoiding obstacles along the way.

The main obstacles of the track are oil drums and the straightaway after the first two turns being covered in flames. The former will slow you down while the latter will make you spin out of control for a few moments.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Between two oil drums by the left wall on the long straight.

  • Medium: Keep going down the same path as the first Golden Mushroom. This Golden Mushroom is behind a firewall.

  • Small: Next to the right wall near a lone oil drum.
Cups and Tracks (Super Cups - Circle Cup)

Game of origin: Power Drive 2000

This track is what inspired the VR Trax designs for later versions of Super Indie Karts given the vector-styled theme used here.

Think of the track as Sunset Wilds from Mario Kart: Super Circuit, as this track uses a similar layout to the track. As this is mostly true, there's plenty of room to practice your drifting, and there's plenty of shortcuts to take here.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Next to a vertical line of Boost Panels.

  • Medium: Next to the left wall and a palm tree. If you take the offroad shortcut, it can be seen straight ahead.

  • Small: Near two diagonal Gold Boost Panels.

Game of origin: CrossCode

Before you ask: No, this track does not consist of the three shapes mentioned above. However, there are little to no walls that stop you from falling off the track. Be very careful as you drive on this course, as one false move will have you and the kart plummet into the water.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: When you encounter two jump ramps, go left on the second jump ramp to find this Golden Mushroom.

  • Medium: Between two Gold Boost Panels on the way back to the start.

  • Small: On a remote platform near the long straight. It's gonna take some practice to get this one.

Game of origin: Read Only Memories

This track looks like a RYB/CMYK track. However, the only obstacles here are drones that float in place to obstruct your path as well as tire stacks. The track is similar to the third track of Mario Party 2's Slot Car Derby. However, although the track looks like it, you can't cut corners here.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Near the start, to the left.

  • Medium: After entering the bottom left portion of the track, turn right to find this on the offroad.

  • Small: On the offroad to the right in the bottom right portion.

Game of origin: Teslakid

As you drive around the track, you'll notice tesla coils flowing from the sky. The blue coils ascend your height while the red ones do the opposite. If you're hovering over a pit, a red coil will pull you in immediately.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Near the first Blue Tesla Coil, it's off to the bottom right and a few feet away from a Gold Boost Panel.

  • Medium: In the second field of grated platforms, use the Blue Tesla Coil in front of you to jump across to the platform in front. The Golden Mushroom will be in front of the jump ramp.

  • Small: In the bottom right corner of the map, beside a Gold Boost Panel and a jump ramp.
Cups and Tracks (Super Cups - Triangle Cup)
Triangle Cup:

Game of origin: Duck Game
Welcome to the first track of the Triangle Cup, littered with ducks and a reference to Adult Swim's Duck Game. Here, the track consists of 90-degree turns. The obstacles here are barrels, mines, and drums that slow you down. There are also holes in the ground that you fall in if you're not careful.

You start off by going right, then going down a long straight, jumping over the gaps along the way, then turn left twice to see two more gaps then a boost panel to go back to the start. You will complete the lap.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: After crossing the jump over to the start, you can find this between two oil drums.

  • Medium: Near a corner after the straight.

  • Small: Next to the right wall in the series of boost panels in front of the jump panel. It can be hard to see.

Game of origin: Freedom Planet

Welcome to Fortune Night, which is based on the third Freedom Planet stage of the same name! The obstacles here are tire stacks and Trafficles, which are enemies that resemble traffic lights that float left to right. Thankfully, unlike their original appearance, they don't shoot lasers at you.

You start by going left, then making another left to a jump panel. On the other side of the track, you turn right, then make your way around two walls, then make two more rights to complete the lap

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: En route back to the start, you'll find this on the bend.

  • Medium: Near the wall where the racer in 8th place starts.

  • Small: After the straight, you can find this near the second "Turn Right" sign.

Game of origin: Shutshimi

Welcome to the world of Shutshimi. There's a lot going on: The sharks are friendly, the squids are swimming about, and there's a fish with legs wearing shorts? Strange...

Finally, one thing to note is the jellyfish. They will leave you alone if you stay on the track, but if you use the offroad paths as a shortcut, they will be there to slow you down.

You start by turning left and then right. Drift left at the hairpin and drive down the straight. Turn left then weave your way through another swerving straight, and drift left to complete a lap.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: On the offroad path between two oil drums just after the race starts.

  • Medium: There are four drums that, appearance-wise, resemble a rhombus. You can find the Mushroom here.

  • Small: Next to a jellyfish just after the sharp hairpin.

Game of origin: Runbow

No, not Rainbow Road from Mario Kart.

If you haven't played Runbow before, here's a tip: The background changes color every six seconds. Remember this order: Pink, Blue, Green, Orange, and White. Any platforms that match the background color disappear. Finally, another thing to keep note of is the ghosts that float back and forth on this track.

Start by driving straight and then bearing right. Turn left and you'll go down a long straight, but be sure to jump over any platforms that have disappeared. Turn left and you'll drive over the colored platforms that are pink to orange on the left and green to blue on the right. Last, you'll drive over a brief color path. At the end, drift to the left and the lap is complete.

Gold Mushroom locations:
  • In the middle of the orange platform leading back to the start. (Small)

  • In front of the blue and green platforms on the left next to the 90-degree platforms. (Medium)

  • On a blue platform next to a wall during the long straight. (Large)
Cups and Tracks (Super Cups - Diamond Cup)
Diamond Cup:

Game of origin: Freedom Planet

Welcome to the first track of the Diamond Cup, which is based on Dragon Valley, the first stage in Freedom Planet. Here, the obstacles are Gansekis, which occupy the middle of the road to stop drivers in the middle of their jumps, spikes, and the Hunter Snake, which follows the track to attack unsuspecting drivers.

You start on the left side of the track, then you jump around and go around the other side of the track, then repeat the process to complete the race.

Gold Mushroom locations:
  • Big: Next to a tree on the left side of the track.

  • Medium: Next to the tree in front of the Stomper.

  • Small: Next to a tree on the right side of the track.

Game of origin: StarrMazer DSP

This track is basically "Rusted Cluster" from a previous version of Super Indie Karts. If you're skilled enough or a speedrunner, you can cut across the entire track with no problems. Just watch out for the enemies that shoot lasers on the track and move either left and right, or backward and forward.

Gold Mushroom locations:
  • Big: Next to the wall just before the sharp left turn on the top right portion of the track.

  • Medium: In the bottom left portion of the track, next to five Race Crystals.

  • Small: On the way back to the start, you can find this near the edge.

Game of origin: INK

Before you take off on this track, do note that there is no minimap to help you guide the course. However, as you drive around, you'll leave a trail of ink to help you remember the course. The square blobs moving back and forth on the track serve as checkpoints.

Gold Mushroom locations:
  • Big

  • Medium

  • Small

Game of origin: Knightmare Tower

This is the last track of the Diamond Cup, and the last track of the Super Cups overall. This course takes place in an ascending tower with lava.

One thing to note here is the tombstones and the giant, evilly-grinning purple snake-like creatures that serve as an obstacle. They will spin you out if you run into them, so watch your step!

Gold Mushroom locations:
  • Big

  • Medium

  • Small
Cups and Tracks (Beta Cups - Melon Cup)
EXTRA CUPS:
Melon Cup:

The layout is pretty basic and is very similar to Baby Park from Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. Start by driving down the long straight, turn left, drive down another straight, turn left, and the lap is complete.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Next to the wall where the racer in 2nd place starts.

  • Medium: Between a series of boost pads on the other side of the track.

  • Small: Next to the lake in the first turn.

Although the track has a VR appearance, it still counts as a dirt track due to its offroad-like appearance.

For the layout, you start by turning left and going down a fork-in-the-road. Drift left two turns, turn right, and then left to go down a straight. Turn left to complete the lap.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: On the offroad section after the second left turn.

  • Medium: When you come to the fork in the road, go right and you'll see it.

  • Small: On the left side of the track on the way back to the start.

If you're good at drifting, this track shouldn't be a problem. If you aren't, be careful because there are plenty of places where you can fall off.

You are greeted with a left turn immediately after the race begins, drive down the straight and drift left. Jump over the series of gaps and turn left on the final straight to complete the lap.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: In the middle of the straight after the race begins.

  • Medium: In the second gap between the series of jumps.

  • Short: On a narrow bridge. Before the jump, drift left and drive straight down the line. This can also be used as a shortcut.

The track is shaped like a figure-8. Keep this in mind as you race around the track. There are also jump panels to help you get back into the race should you run into a wall. However, they are also a hindrance because they may cause you to end up in the wrong direction.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: In front of a jump panel off the track.

  • Medium: Next to where the racers start. If you're in 7th or 8th place, it can easily be seen.

  • Small: In front of a jump panel just after the first turn.
Cups and Tracks (Beta Cups - Piney Cup)
Piney Cup:

If you've played track 2 of Slot Car Derby from Mario Party 2, you'll see the similarities.

You start by turning left and going down a straight. After turning left, you'll be down another straight with tire stacks in the road. After turning left, you'll encounter two more hairpins. Meander past them and head back to the start to complete the lap.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Next to a tree just after the race starts.

  • Medium: On a boost panel between a series of trees.

  • Small: Offroad between a tree and a wall on the way back to the start.

This track is shaped like a rubber band, except that it doesn't fold over each other to make the infinity symbol.

Turn right, and go down the swerving path, turn right, go down another swerving path, and the lap is complete.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Offroad between two speed panels to the left of the track.

  • Medium: Offroad next to the corner of a wall near the first swerving straight.

  • Small: Behind the racer in 8th place where the track starts.

This track's easy on the upper half, but on the lower half, there's a gap where players can fall in if they aren't careful.

On the upper half, make your way to the first turn. Go left, and left again to go down a straight. Turn right twice, and then make two more lefts to enter the lower half of the track. There, you must make a left turn, then a right turn, then another left. Head straight down the path, bear right, and the lap is done.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Behind two boost panels and next to the pit on the lower half.

  • Medium: Off to the right just after the second turn.

  • Small: In the middle of an enclosed square offroad on the upper half. There is a boost panel and a jump pad that will help you get it.

Note: This track is an eyesore.

For the layout, you're greeted with a fork in the road. Turn left on either path and you'll head straight down a meandering straight. Turn left and you'll come into a sharp hairpin. Grip left, then right, then left again and go down the straight path.

(If you'd like, you can use the jump panels that are located in front of boost pads leading to them.)

After going down the straight path, you'll come to another fork in the road. Turn left to complete the lap.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Between a tree and a row of tire stacks.

  • Medium: After the sharp left turn leading to the straight, it can be found on the right next to five Race Crystals.

  • Small: In the position similar to Amsterdam Tulip Farm, which is behind the 8th place racer where the track starts.
Cups and Tracks (Beta Cups - Gelato Cup)
Gelato Cup:

Think of the track as Mario Circuit from Mario Kart: Super Circuit. You start by turning left and going down a long straight. At the edge, you'll encounter a hairpin and must grip left. After maneuvering your way through several hairpins, make a few more turns and the lap is complete.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: After the third boost panel next to the long straight.

  • Medium: Next to a tree after the second sharp hairpin.

  • Small: Offroad next to the curve that leads back to the start.

As the name implies, it's best to stay away from the left edge because there is nothing to help you stay on track. If you fall off the track, you will lose time. Another thing to note is that the turns consist mostly of 90-degree turns, as seen at the corners of the track.

From the start, grip right, drive down the jagged straight, and turn right again to go down another straight. Finally, turn right again and the lap is complete.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Next to some Race Crystals at the top right corner of the track.

  • Medium: Next to some Race Crystals at the bottom left corner of the track.

  • Small: Can be seen on the edge after the top right corner.

You're racing under a moon, but there are no lawnmowers to be found here.

With that aside, you start by making your way around a squiggly line, then going through the fork in the road with water in the middle, then back to the start.

Gold Mushroom locations:
  • (Big) Near the starting area, between a wall and a tree.

  • (Medium) When you reach the fork in the road, turn left and hang near the edge of the track to find it.

  • (Small) When you reach the four Boost Pads, it can be seen near the corner of the track.

Welcome to the last track of the Gelato Cup. This time, you're racing in a mountainous region with a fireworks show going on.

One thing to note: On this track, there are little to no stage hazards other than trees in the road and small tire stacks. Despite that, this track is still relatively easy.

Gold Mushroom locations:
  • (Big) When you reach the first hairpin after the starting line, look between a wall, a tree, and 5 Race Crystals.

  • (Medium) When you get back to the starting line, there will be a line of Boost Pads off-road. The Golden Mushroom is in between them.

  • (Small) When you get to the top right corner of the track, it will be seen off-road.
Cups and Tracks (Beta Cups - Loconut Cup)
Loconut Cup:

The layout of this course is very similar to the power button found on all Xbox 360s. It is laid out in a circle, and there are boost panels that help you jump from one part to the other. On the final lap, the entire course will turn red, referencing the "Red Ring of Death".

Gold Mushroom locations:
  • (Big) In front of the second boost pad on the second quadrant.

  • (Medium) To the right of the first quadrant before the jump to the third quadrant.

  • (Small) To the left of the third quadrant before the jump to the fourth quadrant.

There is nothing to say about this track, as it is simply the left part of the level mirrored and flipped to make the track feel like an "inversion". You start by driving forward and bearing right to jump over the water. On the other side, repeat the same thing until all laps are complete.

Gold Mushroom locations:
  • Big: Near the offroad boost panel just after the race starts.

  • Medium: Off the track next to the finish line. If you start this race in last place, it can be spotted easily.

  • Small: Next to a boost panel on the other side of the track just after the first jump.

Appearance-wise, this track is very similar to Electric Dreams. However, it's shrunk and the curves are a lot more sharp. Unlike Electric Dreams, the track takes place at night.

Gold Mushroom locations:

  • Big: Off the road next to the wall just after the first curve.

  • Medium: Next to a tree on the way back to the start.

  • Small: Next to the wall just after the long straight.

Welcome to the final track of the Extra Cups. If you haven't been practicing how to drift, now would be a good time to use this track in Single Race to sharpen your skills.

Now as for the track itself, you start off by turning slightly left and gripping the first corner. Be careful when you take the first 90-degree corner because you will land in the water. When you grip the second 90-degree turn, drift left and you'll go down a medium-length straight and turn left. Make your way through the snake-like road, turn left and the lap is complete.

Gold mushroom locations:
  • Big: Between two trees near the second 90-degree turn.

  • Medium: Found between a series of boost pads near several trees on the leftmost wall.

  • Small: Can be seen on the edge of the track near the second curve.
Battle Mania
As of version 0.77, Battle Mania has returned with a fresh coat of paint. From the start, there are three modes where you can choose from.

  • Shroom Hunters: The Golden Mushrooms that appear in the tracks spawn around the arena waiting for other players to collect them. A tall bright light surrounds them letting players know where they are so they can go and gather them. The player who has the most Mushrooms when time runs out wins.
  • Egg Crackers: The basic battle mode. All players start with three eggs surrounding their kart to let them know how many lives they have left. If they lose all of their eggs, they are out for the rest of the match. The player who is left standing wins.
  • Jewel Grabbers: Played similarly to Mario Kart's Coin Runners, players scramble around the arenas grabbing as many Race Crystals as they can. If a player gets hit by an item, they will lose 5 Race Crystals they have. The player who has the most Race Crystals when time runs out wins.

Now on to the arenas!

ULTRA ARENAS:
  • Fibonacci Fortress - An arena resembling Block Fort from Mario Kart 64, but unlike said battle arena, the towers are cylinder-shaped.
  • Crossroad Portals - An arena resembling a cross with teleporters at the end of the roads to allow players to make their escape, or catch others off guard.
  • Four Floors - A giant building with multicolored floors for where the players start. Players can climb up and jump down a couple of floors to throw their opponents off.

CAGE ARENAS:
  • Sphere Cage - A large, open cage where you can go in circles or upside down to throw your opponents off. Just try not to make yourself dizzy.
  • Cube Cage - It's a cage match, literally.
  • Donut Cage - Plays like Sphere Cage, but has a torus shape.
Mission Mania - Book 1
(This section is a work in progress. Please excuse its appearance.)

Introduced alongside the Sapphire Cup update on January 27, 2022, Mission Mania is a brand-new mode in Super Indie Karts that is played in the same vein as Mission Mode from the 2005 Nintendo DS game Mario Kart DS.

When you select Mission Mania from the Single Player menu, you'll be greeted with a folder full of Books. Books are tabs that have nine missions to complete before you can move on to the next Book. Once you complete a mission, you will receive a rank depending on your performance with A*** being the highest and F being the lowest, similarly to Grand Prix mode.

With that aside, let's get onto the missions!

---

MISSION 1-1: S.U.P.E.R. Gates
Character: Teeta Totta
Track: SIK Ultra Stadium

You start at the tunnel, but go through the course in reverse. The "S" and "U" gates are right in front of you, so drive straight through them. You'll find the "P" gate in the dirt patch, but remember to keep hopping so you don't slow down. You'll come up to the "E" and "R" gates, the latter being in the second tunnel.

---

MISSION 1-2: Tyre Stacks
Character: Duck
Track: Ducktona Speedway

As with the previous mission, you start off in reverse. The tyre stacks are mostly on the left side of the road, except the fourth one, which is in the middle of the jump conveyors to the other side of the track.

---

MISSION 1-3: Crystal Bushes
Character: Carol Tea
Track: Dragon Valley

The Crystal Bushes that appear in this track and Fortune Night are larger so you can easily spot them. Drive around the track breaking the Crystal Bushes at each corner. The tenth one will appear after you head back to where you started.

---

MISSION 1-4: Race Jewels
Character: Juan Aguacate
Arena: Donut Cage

The Race Jewels in this arena appear in straight lines of four, though there is a line containing eight of them. You must follow the line of Race Jewels as quickly as you can to get the best ranking. If you must, try building up drift power to save yourself some time.

---

MISSION 1-5: Funky Presents
Character: ToeJam
Track: Jammin' Journey

This mission's objective is a gimme. You have to find 16 presents before time runs out. However, be on the lookout as one of the presents is hidden behind a wall.

---

MISSION 1-6: Box Bash
Character: Canabalt HD
Track: Canabalt City Circuit

There are stacks of boxes that you must knock over. You start by knocking over the two stacks of boxes on the roof in front of you, then you climb back up to knock over another box stack. The fourth box stack is in front of the middle Boost Pad. Just after the fourth box stack, turn left to find the fifth box stack in front of the Boost Pad leading to the girder. The last box stack is on the aforementioned girder.

---

MISSION 1-7: Gate Drift
Character: Dream Fiend
Track: Advanced Indoor Circuit

This mission is similar to the first one, as there are gates that you need to pass. What makes it different, however, is that you have to perform drifts through the gates to earn more time. To finish this mission faster, try drifting on the inside of the corners, as they will shave off some time to get to the next checkpoint.

---

MISSION 1-8: Exploding Barrels! Oh my!
Character: Timm Burr
Track: Bearhattan Car Park

In this mission, your job is to get to the goal without touching an explosive barrel as quickly as you can. Be careful though, as the barrels are placed conveniently to make sure you watch your speed.
Mission Mania - Book 2
Mission Mania - Book 3
Mission Mania - Book 4
Notes
  • When a race ends and you miss a Race Crystal before the specified amount, any collected after the race will not be counted.

  • As of version 0.65, there is an option to turn off controller vibration, as well as activating or deactivating auto-acceleration. However, if you do use auto-acceleration, you'll still need to use the Accelerate button if you want to get a starting boost.

  • During a Splitscreen GP on "The Ring of Death", the entire course will turn red for only Player 1, regardless of whoever enters the final lap. For everyone else, the track will still be red, but the background will not change.

Nope. All of the characters control the same.

However, there hasn’t been any official confirmation on whether the characters will have their stats altered or not.

Thanks for the guide, one question though. Are there any differences in the racers? I was looking for the equivalent of Koopa Troopa in Mario Kart. Not too fast, not too slow. Great handling etc.

@BurningCrisis Savage
You'll have to enable Steam input for Xbox controllers by going into your Steam settings. The option in question is found under "Controller".

@乌克巴尔
You can't unlock the other maps because they're not available yet, as indicated by the Mauritius sign of a person digging through some dirt.
