My screen is black! Why?
You do not have DirectX 11.1.

Versions of Windows below Windows 10 may not fully support DirectX 11.1.
Some older graphics cards may not fully support DirectX 11.1.

Please make sure you meet our minimum system requirements on our store page.https://store.steampowered.com/app/504650?snr=2_9_100006_100202_apphubheader
How do I draw?
Make sure you are on the "Create" menu, and have the "Draw" button selected.

If you press the trigger on your controller, you should start to draw with clay.

If nothing happens, make sure you are drawing within the cube outline.
Can I import models?
Yes. Images and 3D models can be imported into MasterpieceVR from the File menu.

Image formats that are supported include: JPG and PNG.
3D model filetypes that are supported include: OBJ, FBX, STL, and GLTF.

3D models can be edited by converting them into clay. This can be done from the Select menu.

How does multiplayer work?
All multiplayer functionality can be found under the Collab menu.
Network sessions are referred to as "rooms".
Each user in a room must be running their own instance of MasterpieceVR, and will need their own equipment.

Joining a Network Room
If you would like to join a network room, you can find all active rooms listed under the Join tab, beneath the Random button. Selecting a room from this list will connect you to that room. You will be asked to enter the password for that room if it is password protected. If there are no active rooms, the list will be empty.

Selecting the Random button will connect you to a random room. If no rooms are available, this will create a new room.

Creating a Network Room
A network room can be created from the Create tab.
If you would like your room to be private, you may add a password.
The Cube Control buttons allow you to select the control mode for your sculpture. Free mode allows anyone to move the cube, while it remains in place for those who do not want to move it. Fixed mode keeps the cube in a static position for all participants.

Selecting the Create Room button at the bottom of the menu will create a network room with the chosen settings. You will be placed in your network room, and it will appear to others on the list of rooms.

General Information
While in a room, your Network menu will show all users currently in the room, as well as their rank in the room. Selecting a user will display additional options related to that user. Selecting yourself will not display options.

There are 3 ranks a user can have in a room. These ranks dictate what a user can and cannot do within a room. They are: host, artist, and spectator.
  • The host can kick, promote and demote users. The host fully controls all room functions until they leave the room, at which point the host status is passed onto the next highest ranked user.
  • Collaborators can modify the sculpture, but cannot kick, promote or demote other users.
  • Spectators can only view the sculpture.

Up to 20 users can be in a room at once. Up to 4 of those users can modify the sculpture, everyone else must be a spectator.

Current Limitations
  • Sculptures cannot be loaded when in a multiplayer room.
  • Undo/Redo is disabled.
  • Other functions may be disabled if they are currently unstable over network sessions.
How can I make the menu less complex?
MasterpieceVR has two menu modes; basic and advanced. The basic menu has a more focused feature set, and is great for beginners. Menus will be smaller, and have fewer buttons in basic mode.

If you would like to switch menu modes, you can go to Options->Settings->Advanced. Selecting the "Advanced" button change your menu mode.
Will MasterpieceVR run on my computer?
Currently MasterpieceVR will only work reliably on Windows 10. A VR capable machine is needed. Please refer to our store page for more detailed requirements.
Does MasterpieceVR have layers?
No.

We do, however, have a similar feature. Clay can be converted to a mesh, allowing you to transform it independantly of your sculpture.
Can I export models?
Yes. 3D models can be imported into MasterpieceVR from the File menu.

3D model can be exported as: OBJ, FBX, STL, and GLTF.

Export to .GLB and I'll consider purchase. It'd be nice to import an .OBJ edit it in VR and then Export it to use in Oculus Home.

I'm sorry you're having trouble finding features. It sounds like you may need to enable Adavanced mode. You can enable advanced mode by going to Options->Settings and then selecting "Advanced". It should be highlighted blue.

If you are having difficulty finding tools in Advanced mode, then you can try selecting different tabs in the Create menu, or open up the Guides menu to enable mirroring. Many of our tools can be found in sub-menus and pop-out windows. Hope that helps!

hey, question: the program is extremely simple. i cant figure out any way in heck the stuff in the trailers was actually made using it. can you please tell me what the actual, honest workflow was for creating those things? sorry if this is coming across rude. but i refunded another app that was the same price to buy this one because this seemed like it was more worth the nearly $40...so far it looks like its just oculus medium with a better looking room. i dont want to refund this if im missing something obvious for how to better utilize this...

I really enjoy the program. One feature that would be really nice is the ability to place/move a cut-a-way plane that would allow me to see inside and allow me to carve out internal cavities etc. This would be indepsensible in creating caves and such in a sculpted mountain for instance.

@Ollimator, I think you have to enable Advanced mode. Options->Settings->Advanced. At least I do see everything they show in the tutorial.

I have just opened Masterpiece and watched the tutorial--
where are all the tools that are showcased in the video? I only find cube and Sphere.
Also where is the export function and how do you activate a symmetrie mode?
It looks to me as if the software only has a farction of the shown features.
