Resolution Registry Fix
Does your game boot to a black screen and file revalidation or reinstalling won't fix it?

9 times out of 10 it's due to a resolution issue. The game stores its graphics settings in your PC registry, so it takes a few simple steps to go in and change them manually.

1) Run regedit.exe. If you don't know where that is, type "regedit" in your start menu's search bar. It comes with windows by default so it should be there.

2) Navigate down the file tree to where the graphics settings are located.
- EAW's settings are located in
HKey Current User\Software\Petroglyph\StarWars\Profile\Profile0

- FOC's settings are located in
HKey Current User\Software\Petroglyph\StarWars FOC\Profile\Profile0

3) Now just scroll down to find the screen height/width/refresh rate section and change it to what your monitor is currently running. Double click on the entry you want to edit, switch from "hexadecimal" to "decimal" in the new window that pops up, and enter your new numbers. Then click "Ok" and you should be ready to go.

If for whatever reason you have issue navigating through regedit, here's a quick visual guide. Blue arrow is for EAW's settings, green arrow is for FOC. (Click image for full size)

See? Super easy. Just don't mess with anything else in the registry unless you know what you're doing. Seriously. Now go out and mod the game 'till it breaks again, like true heroes do.
Windows 10 Value Reset Issues
(Updated 5/19/21, thanks Blackburn!)

So apparently Windows 10 has a new "Fullscreen Optimization" feature which may interfere with any changes made in your game registry files. If the game resets to default resolution values every time you launch the game on Windows 10, try disabling the Fullscreen Optimization feature by doing the following:
  • Press "Windows key" and "I" key together to open Settings.
  • In the Settings window, click System.
  • Then click Display tab from the left panel.
  • Then choose Advanced graphics settings.
  • In the pop-up window, uncheck the option Enable fullscreen optimizations.
Here[www.minitool.com] is an article with alternate methods of disabling Fullscreen Optimization if the problem persists.

Oh snap, of course Windows 10 has to mess with stuff, right?

I've updated the guide to note that issue in case anyone else runs into it, thank you!

my friend has this problem to, We tried to change reddit values. BUT every time we tried to launch the game - it restores all the values in reddit to default. So no luck to launch the game. We even can't launch the game in windowed mode
