Live Wallpaper Manager
Live Wallpaper Manager is the first module you will see when you run the application. It allows you to manage your wallpaper library: browse your local and Workshop libraries, downland and vote wallpapers, preview and set desired wallpapers, and to create your own play list.

Your Local Library
On the first screen, you see your local library that shows all live wallpapers installed on your computer. Click on the item in the list to see a larger preview, basic information, and get access to the item specific options. When an item in the list is active, the button on the bottom left side also becomes active enabling you to select one of the following options:

- Sets an active wallpap r as your default desktop theme.

- Preview an active wallpaper on your desktop without changing your default theme.

- Open an active wallpaper in the Live Wallpaper Editor. The option is available only for official wallpapers and wallpapers created by you.

- Delete or unistall an active wallpaper from your computer.

Slide Show
Instead of setting a single wallpaper as your desktop theme, you can create a play list or slide show. The Live Wallpaper Master settings determine which wallpaper in your playlist will be displayed, and the order in which the wallpapers are displayed.

To add a live wallpaper to a play list, select it in your local library and click on the small arrow button on the right. You can add as many live wallpapers as you want. To set your slide show as the default desktop theme, click the Start Slide Show button on the bottom of the slide show list.

Workshop
Click the Steam Workshop tab on the top to get access to the community library of ready to use live wallpapers. Here you can browse all wallpapers created and shared by the Live Wallpaper Master community. Click on the item in the list to see a larger preview, basic information, and get access to the item specific options. When an item in the list is active the button on the bottom left side also becomes active enabling you to select one of the following options:

- Download an active wallpaper to your computer.

- Preview an active wallpaper on your desktop without changing your default theme if it is already downloaded.

- Delete or unistall an active wallpaper from your computer.

Settings

  • Language - sets the language of Live Wallpaper Master interface, needs restarting the program to take effect.
  • Run Live Wallpaper on Windows startup - if this option is set, your default live wallpaper will be set automatically each time you turn on the computer. It does not require Steam client to be launched.
  • Change wallpaper every - sets wallpaper change timing. It takes effect only if the slide show is set as your default desktop theme.
  • Show wallpaper in random order - shuffles your slide show list on Live Wallpaper Player startup.

  • Software render icon - if you have an issue with animation on your desktop, try this option. It is not recommended for use in other cases.
Live Wallpaper Player
This is the main module of the application. When it is run, it replaces your static desktop wallpaper with an animated scene from your library. It can be launched from Live Wallpaper Manager, or run automatically on Windows start up if the corresponding option is set in the application settings.

  • Pause/Resume - this option allows you to pause and resume desktop animation
  • Mute Sound - this option turn sound off, if it is present in the played live wallpapers
  • Create Wallpaper... - this option opens Live Wallpaper Editor
  • Exit - this option closes Live Wallpaper Player and stops desktop animation.
Live Wallpaper Editor
This module allows you to create your own animated themes. Let’s look at the basics of the creation process.

Background

Every new wallpaper should start with choosing and loading a background image. You can use your static wallpaper, or any other image of suitable size.

Click the "Open Bacgroung Image" button at the top-left to open your background image. Now you are ready to animate it.

Animations.

Click the plus button in the Animation section on the right to open the animation library.

There are 4 main types of animation tools you can use in your scene.

1. Animated Object. They are ready to use elements, such as weather effect, plants, animals, and other objects. Each can be applied immediately, and have controls to modify its appearance and behavior.

2. Warping Brushes. These tools morph your background or whole scene in different ways. They can make still images wave, bend, expand, and so on. To use these tools, add one of them to the scene and paint over an area you want to animate.

3. Nature Brushes. These tools add cool nature effects to your scene. Some of them, like water brush, require a specific image (photo of water), but others, such as fire, can be applied to any background.

4. Particle systems. This is a more complex tool and requires some exploring before using due to the because of large amount of options available. First, you need to select a particle system (source). This determines where the particles appear and the direction of their movement. Then you need to set the particle options: image, size, color, and many others. With all of these options, you can design many different effects: your own rain, fire, smoke, explosion, fountain, and so on. Do not worry, however, because some of these effects have already been designed for you and are available in the Animated Object branch.

Examples

Winter scene. It was made from a static photo of a winter forest using two layers of Snow animation. Fast and big flakes for near falling snow, and slow and small flakes for distant falling snow.

Seascape. It was made from a static photo of the sea using the Water brush.

Aquarium. It was made from an aquarium background image using 3 animated objects: animated fish, bubbles, and light rays. The Underwater effect was also applied to make the scene more vivid.

Try different options in the program settings. Changing "software render icon" option could help. What windows version do you have?
