A guide to getting every possible achievement in HIVESWAP: ACT 1

Introduction

THIS GUIDE WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR ALL PARTS OF HIVESWAP: ACT 1. MOST ACHIEVEMENTS SHOULD BE EASY TO GET WITHOUT A GUIDE, SO MAYBE GIVE THEM A GO ON YOUR OWN? THIS IS TO HELP ANYONE WHO'S COMPLETELY STUMPED.

As a general tip, the icon of the achievement will give you a hint towards what receiving it entails. For example, >DON'T ENCOURAGE HIM involves Bubsy and the dog treats. A full run-through of the game doesn't take very long, so try giving them all your best shot before you come back for help.

Story-Related Achievements

>OVER? BUT WE JUST STARTED!
Contact Jude for the first time by walkie-talkie.


>IT WASN'T LOCKED
Leave Joey's room.


>LIGHT WEAPONRY
Get batteries from the radio in the kitchen, and use them with Joey's flashlight.


>STEP UP
Complete the first STRIFE encounter.


>NA NA NA NA, HEY YOU
Be Jude.


>THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM
Successfully send Joey the red and green marbles.


>FEATHERY DOOFUS ACQUIRED
Complete the third STRIFE encounter, and retrieve Byers from the fridge.


>WHY'S IT EVEN LOCKED
Spin the globe and get the key to the attic.


>SIGNATURE STYLE AND FLARE
Complete the fourth STRIFE encounter.


>NOW WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON IN HERE
Make it to the attic.

Complete the first game of snake as Joey.


>ACCIDENTAL ASTRONAUT
Talk to Xefros again after you're told to look for Dammek.


>LET THE RUMPUS COMMENCE
Be Xefros.

Unshelve Xefros' cuebat using the bent spoon.


>TREAT TIME
Successfully unlock the safe in Xefros' rumpus room, after obtaining the playbook and canned drink.

>RUBBLE LEADER
Blown up.


>IT'S A LIVING
Make it to Dammek's living room as Joey.


>G R U B B _ _ S
Decipher Dammek's flavour of the week and complete the second game of Snake as Joey.


>GOOD DEER. BEAST FRIEND.
Use the Alternian bestiary and veterinary kit on Dammek's lusus.


>INSUFFERABLE ZOOSMELL
Name both lusii.


>HEAL THE DEERCAT. BE THE RIDER.
Ride Deercat to Xefros' aid.


>SAVE XEFROS
Save Xefros with the hover pad.


>CELL YOU LATER
Complete Act 1 with the E batteries from Grandpa's universal remote in your inventory. You can find the remote on the table by the television, in Harley Manor's living room.

>BATTER LUCK NEXT TIME
Complete Act 1 without the E batteries from Grandpa's universal remote in your inventory.

Missable Achievements

>DON'T ENCOURAGE HIM
Give the Bubsy poster by Joey's TV some dog treats.


>HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL
Use the ballet shoes on the slinky up near the attic.


>NO. THEY'RE YOURS NOW
Try putting the E batteries back in Pa's universal remote. You can find the remote (with the batteries inside) on the table by the television, in Harley Manor's living room.

>THEY'RE STUFFED
Use dog treats on the three taxidermied bear things in the living room, the narwhal left of the hula dancers in the basement, and the lion head and deer in the trophy room.

>WHERE THEY BELONG
Throw some pogs in the trash, by the fridge in the kitchen.


>MAY I HAVE THIS DANCE?
Tap-dance and ballet at the dancers in the basement.


>PERIOD-APPROPRIATE REFERENCES
Fax some pogs with the power back on, also by the fridge in the kitchen.


>ACTIVITY RECORDED
Locate the mysterious figures out the hidden window[i.imgur.com] in Jude's treehouse.


>SEQUENCE BREAKER
Try firing a flare at the evil-looking mansion out the same hidden window.


>RED AND GREEN HERRING
Fill a pouch with two cat's-eye marbles. Some people have gotten this achievement with two of any marble, but I'm not sure if this is intentional or not.

>THE LONG GONEBIRDS
Examine Jude's bird cage after sending each pigeon out, including one last time during the final STRIFE sequence.

>BIRDGEONING TALENT
Use Byers on the piano and listen to his haunting refrain.


>SURELY HE HAS SOME ADDITIONAL PURPOSE
Use Byers on 30 different objects.


>SERIOUSLY, DON'T EAT THE MUMMY.
Throw some spice on the mummy hidden in the attic. It's under a chair, just right of the pile of hay.

>MELODIOUS CHIRPS AND TONGUE-CLICKS
Tell Xefros you're the nightmare squid god kind of alien.


>CONVEXED
Use the bent spoon on the pile of bent spoons.


>PLAYING WITH POWER
Use the cuebat with the pusher playbook.


>VENT FRUSTRATION
After crawling through the vent, send Byers back the way you came.


>JUNIOR VETERINARIAN
Use the bowl of milk, dog treats, Alternian bestiary, and Alternian veterinary kit on Byers. The milk must be in the bowl to proc this achievement.

>BOROS, and Conclusion

>BOROS
There is no known way to legitimately unlock this achievement as of now. It is very likely that there'll be a matching achievement called >OURO, either in Act 4 of Hiveswap or at some point in Hauntswitch. Bottom line, don't think too hard about it for now.


The exact conditions required to unlock some achievements are still being tested, and aren't set in stone yet! Some people are claiming that >THEY'RE STUFFED, >ACTIVITY RECORDED, and >JUNIOR VETERINARIAN are bugged, but I'm not sure if it's that or just if they hadn't done exactly the right things to get them. If anything changes, I'll be sure to update this guide as soon as I know.

does boros really not have something to do with saving and coming back to a specific part? doesnt make sense for them to add the achievement without making it possible to get since its a finished game...

I got the junior veterinarian when I also combine The Big Book of Beasts you found soon after you go through the portal ( It is located in the foreground, in the room with the safe after you crawl through a vent) with Byers. Just if anyone wants to know.
