How to Build the Tankiest Tank
By Salvador3031
Introduction

This guide is my attempt to find objectively, the best tank robot that can take the most damage, from the widest range of attacks and be able to engage enemies in the widest range of sistuations with the best amount of damage at a maximuim CPU limit.

Movement

As of the current state of robocraft in 1.0, their are two options for movement parts that can take the most damge and they are mech legs and tank tracks. Biulding flying tanks or at least the attempt of biulding such a thing will not be covered. I find these two are the best optoins because these two have tyhe highest ratio of health they have realitive to CPU cost. This is a theme that will appear many times in this guide, is that as of 1.0 snipers are the greatest threat any robot will be facing and biulding resistancy to them are the most important factor in determining tankiness. The lowest mech legs i would use would be blue rarity mech legs at 85 CPU cost. While the tank treads i would recommend is green rarity warhog treads at 35 CPU. In order to build robots resistant to snipers, redundency is a key, the more you have of something at a lower cost the longer it will take to snipe it off. Taking into consideration how mechs tend to be "sawn in half" and that problem does not exist with tanks from my experience, I find this another advantage of the tank treads. I will give this catagory to the tank treads due to how you can have more of them at a lower cost and they only based on health and don't have shields and tank treads in a practical stand point have more valid attachment points.

Chasis

It is clear that your robot should use as many blocks and tank treads as possible to get near 100% health boost. for tanks it means using many tank treads and at least two different types of threads of varying hieght so your robot will naturally have different places of elevation to mount weapons on it. I find shields should be avoided becuase they do not provide a health boost. Remember this robot should be 2,000 CPU to be the tankiest possible, you will not win by out damaging your enemy but by out lasting them. Make sure you use only square blocks because wieght will not matter and they have more health.

Weapons Philosiphy

The main goal you want to acheive with weapons is to have as much weapon health for as little CPU as possible so it will be hard to "nuter" your robot. This will disquallify all legendary weapons if you seriously just want to be as tanky as possible. For the cost of the legenary lazer gun you can achieve with the same health with epic lazer guns for half the cost. The goal will be to have as many weapons as possible with as much health as possible for the lowest cost because weapons don't give you a health boost. That is why you will want to have a big area on your robot to place weapons.

Weapon Choice

I will first of all disqualify all legenary and their epic counter parts weapons because of the reasons stated, this will leave the rail guns, lazers, and plasma from in my opinoin the rare through epic variety becuase common has too low a dps (even for a tank). Agian, we want to be as effective against the widest variety at the widest range. Our goal is to have no exploitable weaknesses and to defeat all our enemies by the endurance of your bot. This will disqualify the sniping rails and the can't his planes plasma, this will leave rare through epic lazer guns due to them having fast projecties, that are fairly accurate and do good damage. I have found both to be good guns on tanks, just make sure you have like twelve of them.

Missilanious

For gagets, i would recommond against all of them, with the weapons you are using running out of engergy is not a concern and disk sheild becuase of how once you use it you are imbobilized by having to stay behind the shield to engage far away targets, gaining distance while chain splitter hovers put up their shields is my main method of killing them. They cost a lot of CPU and don't give a health boost. on triforcing it really shouldn't matter too much but do try to at least tri force the guns

Game play

You want to be the robot that leads the charge for mid in areana and take the brunt of the attacks. Whenever you fight an enemy robot always go for his guns becuase you should always be able to win a one v one and get his guns before he get's yours. When i use the tanks i biuld in accordance to this guide I only die at the hands of 3 other robots and even in death I act as a long distraction. You should be able to take a full plasma barrage and shrug it off, you should be able to out CQC the shot gun sprinter. You should be able to shoot down any plane of helicopter before they can kill you. You will have no visable weakness and it will take the enemy team minuites to find out how to kill you. The robot should be 2,000 CPU and push very close to 100% health boost, like +-10%. It should have redundencies in movement and weapons and make things hard for snipers.

Self Advertisment

If you want to see what my idea's of tanks are you can feel free to look at the tanks made by me which are: Taticool Tank, Reduduncy tank, and MI Rhino (the I is a i).

Thank you for reading my guide and i hope this will help you, this has been my first guide.

I have a super tank. Someone gave me deadly amounts of salt because of it. Check it out on CRF. "A simple tank" is the name of it.

I tried making a flying tank, but Robocraft doesn't let it fly

Suggestion if you are finding my guide better -- remove yours or alter it to link to mine

I biult using your method and i have a 102% health boost. this is sweet.

surviving lets you contest longer, or prevent the enemy from getting a point. there is no negitive to surviving in any gamemode

Which is fine. I can win quite a few 1v1s, but winning the 1v1 doesn't lead to winning Arena as often as surviving the 1v4 does.

I see what you are saying I just thinkj that we have seperate goals to achieve with our vehicles becuase we have different situations and different goals. I want to win in a 1v2 and you want to survive a 1v4.
