You're a WIZARD, Spike! The Great and Honorable Dragon Lord Spike, The Brave and Glorious...wizard. Also known as: the only reaction episode where I didn't ship 2 characters together and just leave it to the desperate shippers.

You all know my stances on Spike episodes in the past. Season 4 was OK with Spike episodes. Season 5 was TERRIBLE when it comes to Spike episodes. Season 6...it was kind of alright. I do understand that other people think of this episode highly as being a big step-up for Spike and his role as the developing character but for me, I was expecting more out of "Gauntlet of Fire". I know, quite guilty of saying that but, that's what I got out of this episode.

The action scenes are visually appealing and it's nice to dive back into the Dragon Lands again after Season 2 to revisit a couple of old "favourites" to rack our brains to the day that dragons were just "big, mean baddies" stereotypes. However, ponies know little about their culture...EXCEPT for the fact that they know about the Dragon Lord thing. 1000 years have passed and that's all they know about them?? Good thing Twilight's doing more then the REAL princesses are.

I wouldn't go as far as to say this is the BEST SPICK EPISODE EVAH but, I would see it's a decent Spike episode for me to re-watch and glorify the action scenes and especially a little bit of world-building here and there. That was what I kind of appreciated in this episode.Now, the Sparity ship can be sunk into the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. *cue My Heart Will Go On*
