why does this exist?

very good interchange for single (only cargo/only passenger) rail networks or pieces of your network where you only have on type of trains.

This is the best Interchange in my opinion. ;)

This is a really nice one. Serves the purpose of crossing 2 train lines perfectly and it is compact. Slightly sensitive to steep terrain but normally it should be fine.
