So I figured out a work-around. I got a numpad emulator from sourceforge and defined custom keys in the numpad settings <gear icon> "Add/Remove Buttons". Keys that I added were ctrl, shift and "create custom button" of "/*-" <without quotes>. Done. While playing game, either from game or the menu, simply press F9 or "fn + F9" in laptops to open numpad emulator and press your desired buttons you just custom added to the emulator. if you are having trouble with the numpad emulator, just play around with the buttons and load built-in configuration. you will soon learn how to use it. Hope this helps anyone who wants to replay The Settlers before the new one is out. Btw, I tested this cheat in both The Settlers 6 History Edition from UPlay and Gold/Limited Edition version 1.71.4289 from GOG. Works on both.

Also, the "play as AI enemy" doesn't work, nor in the base version or in The Eastern Realm, tough it seemed to be interesting. If someone knows about that, please contact me

Can anybody exaplain the abbreviatons of the show FPS cheat? I'm trying to debug the game because it has terrible performance, while bigger games like Elite:Dangerous run flawlessly..
I only have ~8 FPS, that's why I want to find the cause of the lag

Hello. I know this post is old, but I just started playing The Settlers VI: Rise of an Empire (Gold Edition), and repeatedly tried getting to the Free Camera Mode, sadly without much success.

What I did exactly, step-by-step:

(1) Ran the game and loaded a savegame. Then, clicked on the Menu button at the top-right corner and performed the following command: [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[/]+[*]+[-]. As I play on a laptop, I used an USB keyboard with a numpad to press the last three characters of that command.

(2) Then, I checked if I had entered the Cheat Mode by performing the following command: [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[G]. The GUI toggled off, then I confirmed having entered the Cheat Mode.

(3) Then, I tried performing the command suggested by Tsundak (2 Feb 2017 @ 3:56am): [Ctrl]+[0] to switch between RTS Camera Mode and Free Camera Mode. The only immediate effect was rotating the camera clockwise, still as it normally does in RTS Camera Mode, but not what I expected it to do in Free Camera Mode.

(4) In another forum thread (https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/351442-Free-camera-in-Settlers-6-YES-!!!-Forums) , additional commands were suggested by "filxx1" (10 Jul 2011): [MMB]+[Move Cursor] ("free camera look") > [Up Arrow]/[Down Arrow] (Zoom In/Out).

Final Results: After I tried repeatedly these suggestions, and even after trying tweaking with them a bit (just in case they were actually slightly different from what was suggested), however I tried in various ways, none of them got me in Free Camera Mode.

Conclusion: If anybody here can help me get to see my city like this: (http://media1.webgarden.name/images/media1:4be6d88364369.jpg/The%20Settlers%207%202.jpg); I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for any practical advice.
