This guide shows you how to install fix pack for GTA Vice City. This collection of mods aims to fix the game's bugs and refresh the old ui. With this update you can play the game with higher frame rates and higher resolutions.

This collection of mods aim to fix the game's bugs and refresh the old ui. With this update you can play the game with higher frame rates and higher resolutions. You can also add another mods with the mod loader. I tried to stay as faithful to the original game as possible.

HOW TO INSTALL

1. You need a clean install of GTA Vice City.
   
2. Just extract all of the files from "GTAVC_QoL_Update_V1.0.rar" to your game directory(Example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto Vice City").
   
3. Play the game from "gta-vc.exe" file.

• To use the radar zoom press T key while playing the game.
  
• To turn off the radio press X key when you are in a vehicle.

KNOWN BUGS

• In "Demolition Man" mission the camera behaves weird. There are camera mod files in the scripts folder(Vice City Installation Folder/scripts) called "ClassicAXIS.asi" and "ClassicAXIS.ini". Move those files into another folder in the installation location(Like: Screenshot links -> https://pastebin.com/2LK8BZBu ). Then run the game. When the mission is finished, move the mod files into "Vice City Installation Folder/scripts" folder.
  
• In "Supply & Demand" mission the game is crashing. To prevent the crash we have to move "ClassicAXIS.asi" and "ClassicAXIS.ini" files to another folder(the files are located in the "scripts" folder). When the mission is finished, move the"ClassicAXIS.asi" and "ClassicAXIS.ini" files back to "Vice City Installation Folder/scripts" folder.
  
• In "Dildo Dodo" the markers may not be rendered. To solve that reinstall Open Limit Adjuster.

RECOMMENDED MODS TO INSTALL

•   VRTP - Vice City Retexture Project or AI Enhanced Textures for Vice City -> Upscaled Textures
  
•   VC Map Fixes[gtaforums.com] -> "All of Vice City is filled with this type of unfinished objects, which break my heart and make the beautiful city uglier. All these mishaps probably come from the fact that GTA Vice City was done in just a year and the guys from R* didn't have time to polish the map up. Lately I finally had a bit of free time, so I started repairing what Rockstar forgot about 15 years ago."
  
• EAX Alchemy Fix (improve audio)[www.mixmods.com.br] -> You may have already realized that the sounds of GTA San Andreas are better than GTA III and GTA VC, not only the audio files, but how they are reproduced in the 3D environment. Mainly, it's because GTA SA use EAX audio system. There is an EAX option in the III/VC menu but it is not possible to select it on modern systems (Windows 7 or newer). This mod fixes the issue.
  
• LCS Big Vehicle Pack[libertycity.net] -> "This wonderful mod replaces (or maybe adds) vehicles from GTA Liberty City Stories. All vehicles are ported from the PS2 version and ready to be installed in the game, you just need to rename the selected vehicle to the name of the replacement."
  
• GTA VCS Vehicles[libertycity.net] -> "The pack contains all the vehicles from GTA Vice City Stories (with the exception of the ATV, aquabike, air cushion and bicycles)."
  
• Maxo's Vehicle Loader[www.gtagarage.com] -> "This mod heavily patches the game code on the fly, so it might interfere with other executable or .asi/.flt mods. Therefore if it crashes for you, you should try removing some other .asi/.flt mods or Cleo scripts you have installed to see if that helps. This mod only works with 1.0 version of the game executable. This is a modification that makes it possible to easily add new cars to the game without replacing old ones."
  
• Vice City vehicle mods[libertycity.net] -> "Vehicle mods, mostly vehicles in vanilla style."
  
• Change Saves Folder[www.mixmods.com.br] -> "portablegta.asi is a mod that will change the “ GTA Vice City User Files ” folder, to a “ userfiles ” folder in the same directory where your game is installed."

That exception could be related to mods or settings or something else. You may try to delete the 'gta_vc.set' file in the 'GTA Vice City User Files' folder. Or move some of the mods to some other folder else in your computer to understand which mod breaks the game

sorry, i reported the wrong bug. but anyways, on launching the vice city exe on this pc windows 10, i get the unhandled exception c000000005 at address blah blah blah bug. do you have any fixes for this or know what it is?

Some of the mods can be detected as false positive. It is up to you to use the mod package. All of the mods are downloaded from original mod pages

Yes you are right. There is no settings option to change between standard and classic controls. But you can change the location of the ClassicAXIS.ini file from ...\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\scripts to another folder(example -> ...\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\skins). When you do this the classic axis mod is going to be disabled.

i have a problem there is no option to change between standard and classic controls that option just doesnt exist
