I dont get the negative reviews, a lot of hate is for the dlcs but most of them are for skins and the game has been updated a lot.

The PC version comes with multiple characters unlocked already (mostly paid for already since the game isnt free to play on steam). Even then, one of the most powerful characters (Katherine) is one of the 5 characters in total that you can get without spending and they are extremely cheap to unlock.

You mainly buy other characters if you want something different or just a straight upgrade which Katherine is already more than enough. And you can unlock them by doing daily tasks anyways.

A lot of effort and love was put into the sprites and art for the characters and enemies, they are some of the best ive seen and even the skins are noticeably flashy and not just a basic colour swap.

For those who worry about FOMO in-game items, the game dosent have any pre order bonuses and all that, but the default character has a rare skin that can be only get from giveaways and events which is extremely rare to come by by itself.
