Dark Souls is one of the giants of gaming. You've heard about it, you know what it is, and you constantly get reminded of how insanely challenging these games can be.

It's one of my favorite games ever made. I only got into the series recently, but better late than never. The world is so interconnected and well crafted, you can tell there was some serious thought put into it. The bosses are all unique and challenging (With the exception of Pinwheel and some of the Lost Izalith bosses).
Here I will be going over what makes this game worth buying.

Map and World
As I'm sure you've heard, Dark Souls has a very intricate and interconnected world that provides shortcuts and smooth transitions into new areas. The first half of the game makes it easy to get from one place to another without having to run all the way back and forth. Some argue that the second half of the game suffers from lack of time, and a kind of rushed feeling to areas like Lost Izalith and The Tomb of the Giants. While I personally have no complaints, since you are gifted a very useful tool after the boss of Anor Londo, it takes away the need to have an interconnected world. Overall, in my opinion, it does not detract from the main game.

Enemies
What's so cool about this game is that each area has their own respective enemies and boss(es). Undead Burg, one of the first areas in the game, will provide the player will lower level enemies like Hollow Soldiers and archers. Then, other areas like Tomb of the Giants, which is considered a late game area, have giant skeletons and skeleton dogs that deal massive damage. Each area is meant to be taken at a certain time, unless you are feeling adventurous! Depending on your build, different areas could be easier for say, a strength build and much more challenging for a sorcerer or pyromancer. This also adds infinite replayability to the game.

Weapons and Builds
For a true Dark Souls experience, you are gonna want to pick a build early. The starting classes help, giving you more points in a certain category, like Strength, Dexterity, or Vitality depending on your starting class. You will want to use levels from souls to help form your build. The most fun I've had playing is a tanky strength build, where you have a massive HP pool and can deal out TONS of damage and tank through hits. That's my own personal preference though. Every playthrough can be different!

Weapons can be found all over Lordran. Excellent strength weapons like the Claymore and Zweihander can be found in the first few areas, while powerful sorceries like Dark Bead can only be found at the end of the DLC, which is also late game. Because of this, it's good to know the locations of where your classes best weapons can be found, and how early you can access them.

Bosses
Now for the real part of Dark Souls: The Bosses. They are what the game is known for, and the game would be wildly different without them. Without spoiling too much, some of the bosses in this game have become my all time favorites. 3 of the 4 DLC bosses and the boss at the end of Anor Londo are the true contenders. Each boss has it's own strenghts and weaknesses, like some bosses can be weak to lightning while others are very immune to it and can actually use it as an attack. Some bosses can take trial and error runs to find the best way to overcome it, or you can save time and use the internet!

Overall, this experience is unlike any other. Sure it has it's flaws, but what game doesn't? They are easily forgivable in a masterpiece such as this. If you are on the fence about this game, I highly recommend it!
