Sometimes
when i wake up
in the middle of the night
i like to look out the window
and see the stars
who are there no matter what
they are there for me
when blood is streaming down the blade
that i use to cut all my feelings away
and they are there
when it is 1:30 a.m. and i am sitting on the floor
drowning in my own tears
and they understand
that when i say i'm tired, or fine,
what i really mean is
help me i'm dying
the stars know
what is going on

i want to touch the stars
jump out the window
and fly up to them
they will welcome me
comfort me
and i will be safe
