This strategy simulator is really enjoyable, with many scenarios, many plague types, and many more options from Steam Workshop. I have not tried multiplayer, but many of the plagues can be beaten with a very similar strategy. That is the biggest downside, but there is certainly some nice variety with the plagues that are different (most of the later ones).

I would expect players that are “leaderboard chasers” to get the most playtime out of this game.
