Looking at this as simply MGS3, it truly is a masterpiece and a stepping stone for narrative story telling in video games, and still has influence today. If we look at this in regards as a port, it is extremely bare bones, lacking 1080p at launch unlike its PS5 counterpart. In 21:9, the game is bordered, and stretches if you try to fix it with mods. It lacks any volume settings, and has basically no controller options due to the bindings resetting in the launcher every time you run the game. It only has 3 language options and 2 voice over options as well.

In regards of bugs, it certainly has them. Once again, no native 1080p support, you need to use mods for now. Unfortunately, anyone who's not 16:9 will have borders in their game. With fixes, these borders turn into stretching, which is objectively worse. This goes for anyone with 21:9 or the oddbody with 16:10. The game does not have Steamdeck support due to lack of Linux support. There seem to be framerate issues with speed up/slow downs all over the place for anyone with a high refresh rate monitor (above 60hz). The sound quality seems to be worse in a few areas, constantly going from clear and sharp to muffled during cutscenes.

[Update | 10/26/23] Konami has spoken up about the game's framerate/speed issues. Instead of actually fixing the problem, Konami more or less said "Fix it yourself" and shared some GPU specific ways to fix the game's framerate, such as: Using Vsync; Using a frame cap via GPU; Limiting min/max FPS in AMD (Which as an AMD user, never works for any games); And using Gsync.

I can't recommend it in its current state, but this isn't the last time that Konami has fumbled. Given how Silent Hill HD turned out, this honestly could be how the game stays on PC. I can't even recommend it to people who own the HD collection because they're simply on par... because those are exactly the same versions.
