21.6 hrs on record
Look lets start of with the obvious. I see that a lot of reviews are negative and at the time of me typing this there is only 66% of total reviews are positive but this game is fun.

I wouldn't buy it at full price however. I grabbed it on sale and it has been worth the money for me. My rule of thumb for most games is about 1$ for 1 hour means it was worth the money for me and I got it at 15$ with still more hours I want to play. So throw it on your wishlist and convince some friends to do the same and wait until the next sale.

So far I have played through the "completion" of a dungeon 3 times (died countless others). Once by myself but 2 times with some friends and that is where this game really does well. This game is a good party game. It can also be a good drinking game if you want to make it one. Singleplayer is fun and a bit more challenging but multiplayer is this game sweet spot.

First up are the two classes. There is a Brute and then the default guy whose official name escapes me right now. The Brute is basically a tank (groundbreaking I know) but his low speed, low stamina but high health and high defense make him very helpful in multiplayer games. The other class is kind of whatever you want it to be depending on what armor you decide to wear. You can be super fast or super tanky (not as tanky as base Brute however), the choice for playstyle is really up to you.

Now to enemies. Well they never really change. You can always kind of expect the same enemies no matter where you go. The first play-through will be a challenge while you try to figure out their move-set but dont expect new enemies the second time around. A lot of people think this is a bad thing but honestly it is to be expected of these types of games. I have beaten both Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 and the enemies in NG+ are nothing new. they are harder but they aren't completely new enemies. Plus if you dont get the game on sale you are paying half of what I paid for one of those games. I realize the play-throughs arent as long in Necropolis but I wouldn't expect more or the same from a game that costs less. If you want a good single player game like Necropolis go grab DS3 or Bloodborne.

Caveat to the enemies: don't expect one stategy to work against them all. Different enemies will punish you if you just come in swinging while others can out range you. They also seldom come as single enemies. Most of the time you have to fight a few at a time even in multiplayer. This game can surprise you sometimes. I've seen and killed all of the enemies in this game but the levels are always procedurally generated so you can't be reckless and expect to not get killed. I've been killed a few times by relatively easy enemies surprising me and either overwhelming me or combinging with harder enemies to bring me down.

Progression is something that this game does decently. Now you arent going to have new enemies but the Codex feature to this game brings you back a little bit. they are purchased using a currency that takes a while to obtain and the best Codexes can be a bit expensive so it might take a run or two to get the one you want depending on your commitment to completing the small tasks given to you.

Weapon diversity is actually decent in this game. Its not great but its not terrible. On most of my play-throughs I ran into new weapons. The best weapons are never going to be on the enemies you face but in the steel chests you can find if you are curious enough to try and explore the map. The descriptions of the weapons will also really help you decide if its an upgrade or not. Some do poison and fire damage while other have acid and lighting damage on them. These correlate to being better against some enemies and of course weaker against others. This adds a little thought into the weapons instead of just picking up the highest level one. You also have to decide what kind of weapon you want to rock out with. There are fast swinging but low damage ones and there are heavy hitting staffs and great swords. There are also shields to help block attacks and a flamethrower, wand, and multiple levels of crossbow if range weapons are more your style.

There are a few cosmetic choices that you can buy with those hard earned tokens. I have a few that I like and unless I see another I really like I'm good. I haven't seen them all btw. Just saw 3 new colors in my last game. These arent required of course and only add a little flash of color to the game.

I think a lot of the reviews I've read on this game don't have very much time in them or simply expect way too much from this game. Its never going to be Dark Souls 2 and I am ok with that. I don't want a game that takes that long to beat. I just want to sit down and play a dungeon crawler game thats not that easy and that I can still discover new things in and Necropolis satisfies that itch for me.

BTW this game will kill your GPU if you dont turn V-Sync on in the settings. Im going to just asave you the headache and tell you to do that as soon as you first launch it.

TL;DR: I recommend this game. Singleplayer is fun but multiplayer is the best. Don't expect it to be Dark Souls level hard or diverse because it doesnt have the price tag or press coverage to justify that but there is some diversity. Buy it on sale if you can. And TURN ON V-SYNC.
