Outer Wilds has GUSTO, and I mean that in the most visceral sense. When you eat a grape your teeth press on the skin of the fruit, and pressure builds and builds and builds until you're rewarded with a satisfying pop and an explosion of gustatory sensation. But then what? The grape is gone, expended, no more. Well on to the next one right? The outer wilds is just like a bag of grapes. Each time you hear about something in game it's just whispers and clues and echoes until finally you get all the pieces together and unveil the hidden truth. That thing is presented to you wholly and fully, and it's stunning. So on to the next mystery. This loop is so satisfying that you'll be rushing to the end eager to see this next grand reveal and suddenly you'll realize it's over. The steps can never be retraced, and the mystery never re-solved. It makes the game hard to replay since you already know where everything is. But that's okay, I think that's what gives this game it's grand value. The temporary but sweet and satisfying nature of it, just like a bag of grapes.
