I played this game during the free weekend and won a game with the harmony affinity. It's fun, but not amazingly so. The amount of game content doesn't exceed $10-$15 at the most.
The original Alpha Centauri (and the expansion Alien Crossfire) is still better than this game.

Pros:
- Quest decisions provide different benefits to choose from
- Creative and interesting alien creatures
- Each unit has a different version depending on the affinity you choose
- Music and sound effects are great
- Lots of ways to improve your bases through buildings, wonders, and tile improvements

Cons:
- NPC images instead of models during diplomacy
- Very little effort put into NPC text
- NPC dialogue options have little or no impact on the game
- The UI isn't very good
- Not all that many technologies to research
- Only one narrator for the entire game
- Won't zoom in to let you see more of the terrain, buildings etc.

I think most reviews here are right on the edge of positive and negative. I really want to like this game, but for now I'll have to make this review negative :(
