I was surprised to see the amount of folks who were disappointed with this DLC. Honestly, it's a refreshing take on the "humans meet aliens" trope. The Arma series (even the original OFP) is all about realism, or approaching realism as close as possible. It's one of the hundreds of things I love about the game. Don't expect a sci-fi shoot 'em up: this ain't it, Chief.

This DLC is no different, managing to add a new take on an old formula in several different ways. The campaign is focused more on thinking and taking it all in, enjoying the ride and mystery as you go, watching how events unfold and the implications of the human reaction to an utterly alien encounter. Plenty of free roam and choice in sections, which is a big check for me. Plus, the non-ET parts of the DLC are awesome as well, in a vein similar to Laws of War.

I highly recommend picking up this DLC. If it was a tad cheaper, that'd be great, but when you factor in all of the free assets on top of all the goodies this one comes with, I understand that somehow BI has to pay the bills. I've been an Arma fanatic for almost 10 years, and Contact expands the Armaverse in many fantastic ways. The campaign is great, and I'm looking forward to making and playing new alien scenarios on the Workshop. It's a big yes from me!

And please, for the sake of humanity, don't shake the lightbulbs!
