I cannot stress enough how you should not waste your money on this game. The game is $45 and if you want any meaninful customization in this "MMO" you will need to purchase the battle pass of the items individually from a rotating store(you might see the item again in a year or so if you didnt purchase it). If you want a mount, thats another $16. They will sell you a title to go over your head for $4. Monetization is a mess.

With all this monetization you would assume this game would come out with regular content. You would be wrong. The developers have stated that new tems and new areas would be "too costly" but they said they would add features to retain players. Its has been years and there has been virtually no PVE additions to the game.

They were too busy chasing the E-sports dragon. That flopped and the cancelled after 1 season. They canned thier standalone PVP app cause no one would play it, cause OF COURSE free players wouldn't use it, PVP is far too complex to just throw a new player into.

The holiday events were so grindy that the community complained so hard every time that the devs just straight up removed them, and that was an improvement to the game!

And what do they do with this overly monetized game? They make a new game before they even finish this one. They also spend resources to make a tv show. Then complain that the players were expecting too much of them.

But enough about development lets talk about the game. The story is bland and poorly paced. Its about a 60 hour story. PvP is complex and interesting but good luck getting a pop in the queue that isnt the same guy you fought three times that day. The endgame activities are designed to limit you. There are 5 activites in the endgame island all of which take forever to do and are the main source for this games endgame currency: feathers. The issue is you can only do them once a week without paying the standard currency: pansuns. You can get pansuns by grinding the monotonous activites in the game like package delivery and gym rematches. The 5 activites limit you so that at a certain point it is impossible to win, so there is no such thing as a "good run" only the optimal run when the game tells you you've had enough battling and the bad runs where RNG ends your run early.

Why do you need this currency? To luma hunt. Lumas are this games shiny system and honestly they are quite cool, many colors and sparkles, each is unique. However there is a rarer version of a tem, called an Umbra. Now you might expect with how cool Lumas look, umbras must be some next level stuff. No. They are just the temtem, but with a purple/black coat, every umbra temtem is like this. This gets even more painful when you realize the only way you can get an umbra is to sacrifice a luma to get Luma Drops(yet another currency). So you give up your pretty temtem to get the bland samey tems. Its completely backwards.

I have over 10k hours in this game over 5 years, 99% of that time was hunting lumas, and I've come to regret every one of them.
