The game is quite enjoyable and has even more replayability than Left 4 Dead 2 had with the card system. All of my playtime has been solo or with randoms with mixed results (mostly unsuccessful). Unfortunately, you have to go out of your way to say what build you are running, or make a guess what others are running based on character. This makes strategy more complicated instead of just showing the name/cards of your deck to the other players in character select.

With the most recent patch (Dec 16th), the game's difficulty has been curbed to fit a more casual playstyle versus the competitive mess it was before. Nightmare still stands to be a very tough challenge, but more forgiving than previously, and without the BS of old nightmare.

I found veteran to be too easy for a middle difficulty now though, and would like to see a fourth difficulty to fill the gaps. There's also still a few minor-moderate bugs in the game that can be annoying, but I'm sure will be patched in the next few weeks.

One last thing that doesn't get nearly enough attention is that nearly all of the current customization is a reward for your playtime and achievements. The only monetization right now is the annual pass that contains future DLCs, and a few weapon skins that were given to people that pre-ordered the game. Skins are obtained with SP (supply points) that you earn for playing the game and you get more for each person that clears the level to the end. The more prestigious skins are earned by playtime and effort, not bought with money. I haven't found a game in a long time where I saw someone's cool skin and thought "Wow, he must be good at this game." Here's hoping that most of the future content continues to be obtained through playtime instead of money.

It has its fair share of shortcomings, but it has so much potential for when new content and patches come out. I look forward to when there are multiple campaigns out and the story gets more meat to its bones.
