The Samurai embraced Zen as it gave them peace in a world of violence. Despite the hardships and total brutality of the ages, they found joy in the simple matters of daily life...tea, calligraphy, poetry, art, and the manner in which they trained. Knowing death could come today, they took time to pay attention to the flowers in the fields, the bug crawling across the floor, and the intimacy of relationships.
