I cannot recommend, at least for the PC. Controls are anti-intuitive, requiring surgical precision to simply open chests. Automatic view and targeting options are non-existent. Monsters can easily interrupt your attacks, but you can barely (if ever) interrupt theirs. Anti-Blindside Game Mechanics: Why? Why even? Your split-second timing is rewarded with a crit to the face? Really? Bounce off the armor, to be sure, but punishment for accuracy in such a critical (no pun intended) game element? Boss Fights: Don't make any plans for the next half hour, and that's just a single attempt. Main character can sprint a total of 10 feet before getting tired (I'm fat and old, and I can still sprint 100 yards before I need to admit that I'm having a heart attack). Main character cannot climb anything - only jump down. Main character cannot step over any landscape feature larger than a dead squirrel, and will hang up upon encountering said landscape feature. Flying opponents will freely engage the group, though the group (despite having ranged weapons) cannot engage the flying opponents. What's more: Flying opponents will float along, completely ignoring you, despite all of your best efforts to attract them to combat... until you've passed under them - at which point they will ambush you from behind, despite your wariness of their existance and eagerness to engage them in combat. Those are the nits.

The story is kinda meh. The plot is kinda meh. I didn't expect a Shakesperian presentation, to be fair. I got exactly what I paid for, in those departments.

Boiling these things down: The game has the potential to be engaging and entertaining, if the raw mechanics didn't drag the progression to an intolerable slog.

Things might be better with some kind of controller, but if you're a hardened keyboard-and-mouse player like myself - save yourself the grief and pass.

I love the Star Ocean IP, but this could have been done ~much~ better.

Well even if its a Jrpg its still a Rpg tell me one where you have all usefull skills at start?

And for the bosses the Weakspots (Well its is a bright shinning spot^^)are easy to see you only need the tip that normal attacks from party members can cover it before you can use one of your kombos. (i figured that out fast because i already knowed that problem from other games like that)

The elements.... just try it out like in every other game with hard long bossfights, and reload the last save and equip all members who has a Skill/weapon with it.

You mabe need your 30min for the first try on the first boss, but at least by the secound Boss you know what you need to look for and reload as soon as you have the information without using the Internet. The only time you will need the Internet is in the Post game in the optional Dungen but thats quite normal for that kind of Games.

You see? That comment is helpful, insightful, and intelligent. Thank you Caldona. My argument against yours is, at the time when I need them the most, these skills aren't available. Now, I confess that I'm not a particularly patient human being, but if I have to play longer than 5 hours to master the simple basics of the game (not the intermediates or black-belt levels of the game, but the simple basics), and scour the internet to figure out boss fights, then MAAAAAYBEEEEE the game is a little slanted. Now, tell me that you looked at each boss and immediately identified and exploited their weak spots without any kind of outside help, and I will personally sponsor your career as a professional gamer. Much luv, and I hope you prove me wrong.

Well i am very sorry that I am no American. But i think most people know what I mean even if my grammer or some words are incorrect. My nativ language is German I am from Austria.

But that doesn´t make my points wrong.

-No Schild skill prevents from being interrupted
- Story Bossfights take ~10 min if you exploit there weakspots or elements(It can be usefull to set the party members to "Healing" or "Stay mode" because normal hits from them on the exposed weakpoint can hide it again).
- Double Blindeslide works against enemys with the Counter- Blindeslide ability

And yes the flying enemys suck, but when you look carefully, you can see they fly lover at some points and there you can abush them, but that only really nessersary when they are hard enemys, on trash mobs its not worth the time.

You love the Star Ocean IP? is that a joke. Tell me one where the fights are much different.

Use the Weakpoints of the bosses and they are down in 10 min. Upgrade your stile and you get Double blind slide to counter their Counter-blinde slide, Use the "No Shild Skill" and only bosses can interrupt you attacks...

Gotta admit, this is a pretty hilarious review, even though I don't agree with much of it.
