Review Showcase
TL;DR: This is the roughest gem of a game you'll probably ever play. You'll love it if you take the time to appreciate it. It isn't for the "Casual" gamer. Do not trust a review of this game with less than 3 hours of ingame time, due to its nature. But I advise to read on.

Non TL;DR:

I will try to give a legit review of a game that's shrouded in a weird layer of reviews of people who have less than 2 hours in game, hating it and not giving legitimacy (Such as the user Contagious' review, who blocked me later). Or a meme-like response of positivity. So what is this game?

This is a Cyberpunk Grimdark FPS RPG hybrid that people who play games such as Deus Ex are familliar with. Leveling up, Gunfights, Psionic Powers, and mental ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ are abound. The game utilizes the source engine, so the gunplay is smooth as butter, anyone whom has played a Source game understands the sentiment.

The game nails its atmosphere, despite how strange that it is. The admitted influence to the game was the Warhammer 40K universe, although other such series such as Shadowrun are very appearent. A dystopian future that lets on less than there actually is. I can describe the setting best as a form of cyberpunk future where instead of corporations telling-whos-boss, it is instead government bearaucracy and religious zealots. There is always this sense of Philosophical dread that the game has in its writing and plot, and its pretty damn interesting.

However, that is a a love/hate part of the game; the writing. The game is originally in french, then translated into English. Now, the translation isn't bad in the sense of back in the NES days (Memories of ZERO WING's "All ur base r to belong to us.") but in the sense that phrases are completely absurd and sound like some one stood reading a thesaurus all day to translate. Such as the famous line in the game "Laugh it up my uncultured friend, for soon you shall weep!". Then in all other parts, it seems to just have an absurd phrasing of things. Such as the hub world of the game usually tells you that everyone is friendly so don't attack, the game phrases this as "DO NOT BE OF AN ANNOYANCE." There is a patch that fixes these errors online. However I feel its a shame to play without the strange translation, it makes it feel so much more strange.

This undoubtedly is not a game for everyone. I equate this to the release of the original Dark Souls back when. This game is brutal, it does not hold your hand. Many fault it for that reason, but I find it more of a refreshing virtue. Another difficulty point of the game, is that it was indeed made by a sort of novice crew of developers (First game infact). The game suffers from UI clunkiness that I equate to trying to pilot a Panzer in real life. The game has a tutorial, but most of this is presented via video form, most people say this makes it impossible to play.

I do not agree with that issue however. Although I do grief with the UI of the game, the tutorial isn't a problem. Anyone who remembers being a kid and never playing tutorials on their brandnew PS2 game but just naturally learning how everything works eventually really nails what its like playing the game. It is an experience to be learned, it is not for the casual or faint of heart. This game is nigh impenatrable to the "Idiot Gamer."

The graphics is something of an irk. I am not one to be overbearing on the subject, but for people who are, this game may irratate you a bit. It looks on par for games released during the 2007-2009 era. But this was released in 2011. Its not that bad of a stretch. But it is appearent. Also, it being built on source means that you will experience the beautiful glory of ragdoll physics.

The plot is...well holy hell. The game appears to be meaningless at first. Just being the typical sorts of "do this because you are part of us and we told you." if one doesn't pay attention and speeds through the game, that is all that will ever appear to be. However when confronted with the side quests and secrets (as well as the 3 endings this game sports) you may just find yourself in one of the most metaphysical and weird stories you may ever witness. Without spoiling what it is exactly, the game's plot is like Jacob's Ladder met Buddhist and Hindu scripts of religious literature. Fitting for the Religious motifs that play throughout the factions as well as the lore.

Also, this game has 32 player co-op. I have no idea why. But do with this information what you will.

All in all this is simply one of those games that you cannot sit for a hour and judge properly. If you feel like investing in a engulfing kind of game, then it is money well spent. This game is much more than just another "FPS" its almost like an experience in a way.

The game has garnered a medium sized cult following. Which has its own discord that was made recently that can be found on the discussions page. This game is famous and infamous among the RPG and Hardcore Gamer crowd. And its legacy is one that refuses to just be a simple footnote. This is certainly a game that has earned its right to such a crowd. Then again, its reviews of "Mostly Positive" are to speak for itself. Mixed reviews have came recently like everytime due to the casual gamer picking it up for a buck or so, then getting frustrated at a game that will not cater to them.

If you have already read all of this, as I know that review readers are actually an uncommon bunch, let alone review writers. If you did read, then you are probably already set on either buying the game or not. If you wish to pick up more feedback about the game, please do not for the sake of accuracy rely on any review that has less than 3 hours ingame.

The company, Streum On Studio has gone on with the Warhammer 40K IP (ironically enough) and is behind the recent DEATHWING SPACE HULK game. The lead developer has expressed some interest in continuing EYE.

There once was a man named Freddy Tharbern. Freddy valued three things above all else:
Women, money, and frosted flakes. Seriously, he could not get enough of the sugary goodness that was Tony the Tiger's Frosted Flakes, that was almost all he ate for breakfast lunch and dinner. If any one were to tell Freddy that he could not have Frosted Flakes, he would go absolutely berserk, assaulting them with whatever he could get his hands on, in the case of Freddy's mother it happened to be the leg of a decorative table he had broken during his last rampage.

Following the violent murder of Freddy's mother, Freddy was sent away to Handsome Harry's Happy farm to be rehabilitated. While there Freddy underwent treatment so cruel and vile that it turned his brain to mush, and as he lie there covered in his own waste, he watched. Watched as his captors poured themselves a nice tasty bowl of Frosted Flakes.
