For a seting, set up & backstory that just grabbed me and a game with such promise it just falls totally flat.

Basically you either need to become a set of moronic slavering super hard wired muscles & reflexes OR the total bulging headed smarmy run from & con everything because a sneeze will kill you. Nothing in between works.

Thus all the apparent possibilities just vapourise.

It may be a great game for some but for me its limitations just kill any real flavour and character it might have. Short of unleashing "cheat codes" to build a rounded character .........

You can build a "hybrid" character (fighter/talker, etc). Many people have done so and posted different builds proving it, so you don't have to take my word for it. However, this path is not for the first time players as it requires knowledge and better understanding of the combat system.

So since it appears that you like the game but want to play a "hybrid" character , stick with it and it will come to you.

Sad bit - that combat is far from the worst feature! Scary but oh so true. ALL non combat resolutions are fully detirministict. One has no idea going in what is needed and dialogue squences are entirely controlled (if not contrived) - no "looping back", don't get it perfect (where one starts with zero idea of what might be needed) and things force you to death or a set conclusion. Nothing but trial & error to stumble around with - each trial requiring going back some distance and continually replaying for another blind guess. Even better don't have the perfect set for an option then its gone for good often without even knowing one had it.

Now over 50 hours in and for all its promise this is THE WORST BALANCED GAME I have tried in more than a decade.

Starting with combat - the set up is dreadfull. If one isn't a slavering combat machine Do Not Fight EVER! The combats start badly balanced and don't appear to get anything other than worse as they scale against one (if not a combat moron) for everything I have tried. The AP system is so poorly executed that it really adds little but false hope as tactical combat manovrering is often grossly disadvantageous. The combat "Random" is foull, extreme and throughly weighted against the player - strings (adverse) of 0.01 to 0.001 % are so not uncommon as to be an exercise is masochism. Start with a high dodge, put opponent in net then hit is arms to affect his attack get hit EVERY time. Have a declaed attack chance in the 80+% miss 3 times out of 4 until one dies. Time and again Save spamming and self flagelation is the only way forward.

Not from what I have seen. Still got some limted time to go before I am certain but this game has another common fault of games "Trying" to be hard substituting weighted chance for difficulty - when probability strings of 0.07% are frequent - tollerance rapidly runs out
